Israel is building a new settlement in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron also known as al-Khalil. According to residents and rights groups, Tel Aviv has already begun leveling land and setting up mobile homes in an area that is known for its extreme right wing settler population.

According to Israeli daily Ha'aretz, the Israeli occupation confiscated Palestinian lands northeast of the Jordan valley and gave it to Kibbutz Merav, inhabited by Israeli settlers. The Israeli occupation is systematically confiscating land and expelling Palestinians in the Jordan Valley, known as al-Aghwar. The route of Israel's apartheid wall was altered to secure the takeover of 375 acres Palestinian lands. This annexation have come during the same week as Israel plans to invite tenders for the construction of 2,230 settlement units in East Jerusalem al-Quds and other parts of the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority has condemned these Israeli plans. According to experts, a large part of the occupied land belongs to Palestinians who were driven out of the land by the Israeli occupation forces during the 1967 war. These Palestinians are considered "absentee" by Israel and under the Israeli so-called Absentee Property Law, their lands can be used for settlement activities. Thousands of acres of privately-owned Palestinian lands were given to Israeli settlers in the Jordan Valley in the 1960s and 1970s, and the confiscation of Palestinian land in the area is still ongoing by the Israeli occupation, regardless of International laws and resolutions. In most cases, Israel confiscates lands near illegally-built settlements in the West Bank under the pretext of security reasons, but in this case, they have officially annexed these occupied lands.

The EU will publish guidelines barring member states from having any economic ties with illegal Israeli settlements. In response, Israeli authorities have now approved over one thousand new settlement units in the West bank. Press TV\\\'s Nel Burden reports from Ramallah.

In Israel the issue of settlement activity is a sensitive one. Successive UN resolutions have called for an end to illegal settlement activity and for existing settlements to be dismantled, but Israel has refused to comply. In a new twist, properties in these settlements are being offered up to foreign buyers.

Israel issues tenders for more settler units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds. Settlement watchdog, Peace Now says the tenders were published for a total of 18-hundred-59 settler units. According to the NGO, about two-fifths of the units will be built in occupied east Jerusalem al-Quds. The announcement comes only days after Israel gave the final approval for 15-hundred new settler units in east Jerusalem al-Quds. Israel\'s settlement activities have been a main obstacle in the so-called peace talks between the Palestinian Authority and Tel Aviv. The Palestinian Authority has condemned the move as a flagrant violation of international law, saying it plans to turn to the UN Security Council and international courts to stop Israel\'s illegal activities. Israel\'s settlement activities are illegal under international law.

[27 June 2012] Israel playing game on settlements expansion - English The Israeli authorities have begun evacuating the illegal outpost settlement Ulpana, near Ramallah, in order to demolish 30 housing units.This decision came following the Israeli Supreme court's ruling that the outpost was deemed illegal due to them not gaining legitimate permits from the authorities to build the settlement.However as compensation, Israel has promised to build 300 new housing units in the nearby settlement of Beit El, which remains illegal under international law. Although ostensibly Israel is distinguishing between settlements built with permits and those constructed on private Palestinian land, the practical result of this is an expansion of the Beit El Settlement.

Despite global condemnation, Israelis approve the construction of hundreds more new settler units on occupied Palestinian land. Ha\'aretz newspaper says Tel Aviv\'s Civil Administration has approved 799 new settler units be built in the West Bank. The new units will be built in the Givat Ze\'ev settlement north of Jerusalem al-Quds, and in Nofei Prat, near Jericho, and in Shiloh, also in northern Jerusalem. The move comes a week after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the Housing Ministry to suspend plans to build more than 20,000 units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Israel is to allocate $ 250 million to further expand its settlements in the occupied West Bank territories over the next two years despite international objections. The figure is contained in the 2009-2010 budget, which passed its first reading in the Knesset (parliament) last week, army radio said Sunday. The move by the Knesset comes despite calls by the international community including Tel Aviv's staunch ally--Washington-- to Israel to halt its settlement expansion. Some 125 million dollars (90 million euros) is to be used for various security expenses, with most of the rest allocated to housing construction, the radio said. The Peace Now anti-settlement watchdog has declared that the settlement spending in the two-year budget could be far higher that by "spreading over several sections of budget." "The official figures are nothing but the tip of the iceberg and the Israelis will pay not only a political price for the settlements, but also an economic one," the head of the group Yariv Oppenheimer said. Israel has approved 69 new settlements in East Jerusalem al Quds. The new plan seeks to expand the Har Homar Israeli settlement. However, Palestinian activist Daoud Hamoude says the move is part of a bigger plan to annex all settlements from the North of the West Bank to the E1 area in Bethlehem, ultimately turning the West Bank into a string of Palestinian ghettos. Jamal Jumaa of the Stop the Wall also told Press TV that Tel Aviv has no interest in peace talks and will not cease settlement activities under any conditions. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the European Union for summoning Israeli envoys over Tel Aviv\\\'s settlement plans. Netanyahu has slammed the EU\\\'s latest move, saying the bloc should end its quote hypocrisy over condemning Israeli settlements. Earlier in the day, Israel\\\'s ambassadors in Britain, France, Italy and Spain were summoned over Tel Aviv\\\'s latest settlement plans. A senior European diplomat says EU officials have made clear the settlement announcements have negative impacts on the so-called peace talks. The bloc\\\'s urged Israel to refrain from such moves and use the unique opportunity of talks to end the conflict between the two sides. The EU\\\'s latest move follows Tel Aviv\\\'s recent unveiling of a plan for more than 18-thousand new settler units in east Jerusalem al-Quds and the West Bank.

A political analyst tells Press TV that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is running out of options and he keeps loosing on the international scene. The comments came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he doesn\\\'t care about what the United Nations says about Tel Aviv\\\'s plan to build more settler units, pledging to escalate the construction activities.
