According to a report published on August 12 by the newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's achievements on the ground against the insurgents in Aleppo have frustrated both Ankara and Washington. The report added that, the US is trying to establish a no-fly zone in Syria in order to weaken the Syrian army's air force. However, they will not succeed. Considering the situation, the US tries to supply the Syrian insurgents with anti-aircraft equipment and Stinger missiles, the report said. French lawmakers approve burqa ban French lawmakers have ratified a legislation to prohibit women from wearing face-covering veils despite right activist saying such a law violates personal and religious freedoms. The Senate voted 246 to 1 in favor of the bill, which has already cleared the lower chamber, the National Assembly, reported AFP. The law will come into effect if the Constitutional Council does not question its legality. Muslims argue that the legislation is going to discriminates against France's Muslim population, which is already facing rising level of Islamophobia. Once in place, the law will allow authorities to arrest and fine those women who defy the ban. A woman who continues wearing veils will receive a fine of EUR 150 (USD 195) or a course of citizenship lessons. A man who forces a woman to go veiled will be fined EUR 30,000 and imprisonment. France is home to the largest Muslim population among the 27 European Union member states. Nearly 10 percent of the 62 million people living in French is Muslim. In June, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) unanimously voted against any general ban against burqa or niqab in Europe, saying Muslim women should be free to choose their clothing. [08 Aug 2012] Kidnapping Iranian pilgrims crime against humanity - English Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has called on the United Nations to act immediately to secure the release of the Iranian nationals abducted in Syria and Libya. "The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for the immediate release of its abducted nationals and is of the view that using the hostages as human shields violates... international law and (the) human rights of these innocent civilians," Salehi said in a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday. "I would like to seek the cooperation and the good offices of Your Excellency for securing the release of these hostages," he added. A UN spokesman confirmed that the letter had been received but did not offer an immediate response. On August 4, 48 Iranians, who were traveling on a bus from Damascus International Airport to the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (AS) on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, were abducted by insurgents. Three of the abductees have reportedly been killed. Insurgents from the self-proclaimed Free Syrian Army have threatened to kill the other abductees. In all, the US government obtained the records for more than 20 separate phone lines designated to AP and its correspondents in April and May of 2012. A hunger strike by prisoners at the US-run Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba has entered its 100st day, amid national and international calls for the closure of the notorious prison. Nearly 130 out of a total of 166 inmates in the military detention and torture center were reported to be still on hunger strike on Friday. The strike began in February in protest to mistreatment by prison guards who intimidate the detainees by searching their personal belongings and deliberately mishandling their copies of the holy Qur\'an. According to the Lebanese Army Command, the warplanes broke the sound barrier over the southern Lebanese town of Naqoura. They also released heat balloons over the shores of the town of Tyre within Lebanon\'s territorial waters. Israel violates Lebanon\'s airspace on an almost daily basis, claiming the flights serve surveillance purposes. Lebanon\'s government, the Hezbollah resistance movement, and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon have repeatedly condemned the overflights, saying they are in clear violation of the country\'s sovereignty. UN Security Council Resolution 1701 calls on Israel to respect Lebanon\'s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Bahrain\'s police have summoned, Sheikh Ali Salman, the head of Bahrain\'s main opposition group al-Wefaq for questioning. Sources inside the kingdom\'s interior ministry have revealed the summons without providing any specific reason for that. Al-Wefaq has also confirmed the news, describing it part of the regime\'s blackmailing and revenge tactics against anti-government protesters. Bahraini authorities shut and dismantled an exhibition on anti-government demonstrations on Wednesday. They said the exhibition--set up by al-Wefaq--violates the law. Back in September, al-Wefaq\'s deputy leader Khalil al-Marzouq was also arrested on charge of inciting protests against the Al Khalifa ruling family. Although he was released in late October, he will stand trial in December.

China has condemned Japan for criticizing its new air identification defense zone amid an escalating war of words between the two neighbors. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has said the flight zone over a group of disputed islands in the East China Sea violates the freedom of aviation over the high seas and should be canceled. But China has once again defended the move-- saying Abe is using the situation to QUOTE maliciously slander Beijing. The Chinese Foreign Ministry says the establishment of the zone is in line with international laws and does not affect aviation freedom. Tensions have been running high between the two Asian powerhouses in the past year over the Japanese-controlled archipelago. Both countries have scrambled jets and carried out patrols in the area.

A federal judge in the United States has ruled that the spying activities of the government on the country\\\'s citizens are legal. New York District Judge William Pauley made the ruling in response to a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union against the National Security Agency. Judge Pauley says the NSA\\\'s phone tapping activities are valuable tools to counter what he called threats of terrorism. He also said the mass collection of phone data increases the agency\\\'s capabilities to protect US citizens. The comments come just a week after another federal judge ruled that the surveillance was unconstitutional. Washington DC federal judge Richard Leon said the phone-tapping program violates the Constitution\\\'s ban on unreasonable search.

This is because of resilience of Palestinians, Resistance Axis, against Trump, so it\'s forcing new US admin to reevaluate how to deal with this issue ⭕-Nasrallah: We think Israelis are exaggerating importance of normalization, just like they did w/Egypt and Jordan. Yes, Israel has peace w/Egyptian, Jordanian state, but their peoples have taken a very clear stance against Israel. We see this in position of Bahraini people, opposition, clerics who oppose normalization w/Israel or dealings w/Bahraini financial institutions w/Israel. And the Bahrainis are under threat from their leaders. We see same opposition in Tunisia, Algeria, Pakistan and other countries. So, we\'re betting on the people in these countries, because this is a battle for the people. We\'re not asking them to carry a weapon, just to boycott Israel and Israelis in every way. ⭕-Nasrallah: Israeli army chief Kochavi said that Israeli leadership must undergo change -- pretending they adhere to law and only target military targets.
