More than 100,000 Turkish protesters have gathered at Istanbul\\\'s Taksim Square, calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan. Thousands of others also took to the streets in cities, including the capital Ankara, Izmir, Mugla and Antalya in support of the protesters in Istanbul. Protesters say that Erdogan is out of touch with the reality on the ground and want his government to step down. The unrest turned into anti-government protests after police moved into Taksim on Friday in order to break up a sit-in protest against the razing of the park, wounding at least two dozen people. According to former French Foreign Minister Roland Dumas, the United Kingdom had pre-planned the death and destruction in Syria to bring about regime change in the country. The statement by Dumas came during a recent interview with French Parliamentary TV network, LCP. \\\"I\\\'m going to tell you something. I was in England two years before the violence in Syria on other business. I met with top British officials, who confessed to me that they were preparing something in Syria,\\\" said Dumas. Egypt is tightening security measures along its borders with the Gaza Strip following massive unrest in the country. The new security measures are affecting the daily lives of many Gazans in the coastal enclave. Gaza has been suffering for several years from an Israeli blockade which has caused a lot of difficulty for the people living there. But now the new situation on the Egyptian border is making the economic situation in the coastal enclave much more difficult than before. Acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas has urged Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Syria to maintain a neutral position regarding the conflicts in the two countries. Abbas also called on Palestinian refugees to \"disassociate\" themselves from the unrest in the noted countries and to abide by the Lebanese cabinet\'s decision regarding the possession of arms at refugee camps. The World Health Organization says at least 22 people in Syria, mostly babies have been infected by the polio disease. The organization confirmed that this would be the first outbreak of the illness in Syria in 14 years. The country\'s health ministry has begun a vaccination drive. There are more than 100-thousand children now at risk of polio in Deir Ezzor province alone, which has been caught in fighting between Syrian government forces and foreign-backed militants. The country has been going through unrest since March 2011, which has cost the lives of over a hundred-thousand people there.

Syria\'s grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmed Badreddin Hassoun says at least two-thousand Russian citizens are currently fighting along foreign-backed insurgent inside Syria. Sheikh Hassoun made the remark during a visit to the Islamic University of Moscow. Hassoun said from the beginning of the unrest in Syria more than two-thousand Russian nationals, mostly of Chechnya origin, have moved to Syria to fight the government there. He\'s added that a large number of those people have been killed so far and Damascus estimates that some 1300 of them are still operating inside Syria. According to Syria\'s grand Mufti, most of those Russian nationals are from North Caucasus and citizens of Commonwealth of Independent states.

A Salafist movement confirms that at least 77 Jordanian nationals have been killed in Syria since the beginning of the unrest in the Arab country. The Jordanian Salafist Movement has said the slain militants were fighting under the banner of the al-Nusra Front. It added that there are at least 15-hundred Jordanian nationals fighting in Syria, most of them members of the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. A very large number of the militants fighting against the Syrian government are reportedly foreign nationals. Latest reports also suggest that more than 210 extremists have traveled from Germany to Syria since the conflict started about three years ago. The Syrian government says the West and its regional allies, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants.

The UN-Arab League Special Envoy for Syria has arrived in Damascus as part of a tour aimed at garnering support for proposed peace talks. Lakhdar Brahimi was welcomed by Syrian deputy foreign minister Faisal Moqdad upon his arrival. Brahimi traveled to several countries in the Middle and Near East including Iran to prepare the grounds for the Geneva Two conference. The talks are aimed at ending Syria\'s two-and-a-half-year unrest. This is Brahimi\'s first visit to Syria since December.

The military-backed government in Egypt is planning to ratify a draft law on combating terrorism. The interim government wants to put the law into effect before the upcoming trial of Egypt\'s ousted president Mohamed Morsi on November 4th. The government expects potential unrest during the trial and fears that the mandatory expiry of the state of emergency laws in mid-November will pave the way for more protests. The curfew was imposed following the brutal crackdown against Morsi supporters at Rabaa and Nahdah and the ensuing violence.

The Libyan army goes on a state of alert in the eastern city of Benghazi after nine people including soldiers are killed in clashes between security forces and Salafi militants. The fighting erupted following an army operation against the militants from Ansar al-Sharia group that lasted for several hours. Nearly 50 soldiers and civilians were also injured. The unrest comes after weeks of deadly clashes in the city and in the capital Tripoli. Local militias which were empowered during the NATO war on Libya have now turned against the state. Their refusal to put down arms has sparked public protests and the subsequent killings.

A senior Russian lawmaker says US attempts to influence the situation in Ukraine are a desire to take revenge for Washington\'s defeat in Syria. Alexei Pushkov says US interference in Ukraine is to show that the West is still the force that determines the course of events in global affairs. He emphasized that the West\'s meddling in the events in Ukraine suggests that the country is treated as a semi-colony. Pushkov also says the direct involvement of the EU and the US in Ukraine is a new form of political aggression. Ukraine has been hit with a wave of political unrest since late November when President Viktor Yanukovych refused to sign a trade pact with the European Union.

Meanwhile, thousands of people have taken to the streets of Rome to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Enrico Letta\'s government. The protesters, who\'re angry over the government\'s harsh austerity measures and high unemployment, called for fresh elections. They also accused the ruling class of corruption. The relatively calm protest turned violent after the demonstrators broke a journalist\'s camera, accusing them of being terrorists. The rally was organized by the anti-European Forconi or Pitchfork movement, which has been demanding more national sovereignty and lower taxes. The movement initially started as a farmers\' movement and was later joined by truck drivers and students. The Italian president has warned that failure to swiftly introduce reforms to help struggling citizens could plunge the country into violent social unrest.

Syria\\\'s official news agency, SANA, has lashed out at the US for condemning the government for airstrikes in the northern city of Aleppo. SANA says Washington views the unrest in Syria in a partial, biased way, ignoring crimes committed by militants fighting the government. On Monday, Washington condemned as QUOTE \\\"indiscriminate\\\" the bombings of Aleppo which have reportedly been taking place for the past nine days. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says 15 people have been killed in the latest airstrikes, bringing the total death toll to over 360 during the period. The group blames the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the bombings. Damascus has not made any comments yet. Press TV can not independently verify the group\\\'s claims.

Press TV sources say the insurgents were trying to infiltrate into Syrian territory from Lebanon. But the Syrian army chased them, killing a dozen and injuring many others. Syrian troops have on many occasions blocked such attempts by the foreign-backed insurgents over the past months. Syria has been rocked by deadly unrest since March 20-11. Damascus says armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the deadly violence while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

In the capital Tehran, people have gathered in one of the city\'s oldest mosques to mark the event. Kazem Sediqqi, Tehran\'s interim Friday prayers leader, delivered a speech there. Hundreds of thousands of people attended massive rallies on December 30, 2009, in response to months of political unrest that followed the presidential election held the same year. At the time, supporters of the defeated candidate claimed vote fraud and protested in the streets of Tehran and a few other cities. Dozens were killed and more injured in those riots.

Iraqi security forces backed by local tribesmen have killed at least 71 al-Qaeda-linked militants in the western province of Anbar. A tribal leader says the militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant were killed during clashes in and near Ramadi. Clashes also took place in the nearby city of Fallujah. Officials say 32 civilians also died during battles in both cities in Anbar province. The security forces have managed to take control of more areas which had earlier fallen into the hands of militants. The unrest came after the removal of an anti-government protest camp in Ramadi on Monday. Authorities said the camp had been used by al-Qaeda-affiliated militants.

Tunisian activists have demonstrated near the Foreign Affairs Ministry to demand the resumption of diplomatic ties with Syria. During the rally, Syrian refugees denounced the war and said that some Arab countries want to destroy Syria for the sake of Israel. Protesters praised the efforts of the resistance in backing Syria against Israeli agents. Many observers say the Syrian unrest will end soon as government forces there have so far been successful in dealing with foreign-backed terrorist groups.

Iraqi prime minister, Nuri al-Maliki has blamed QUOTE \"diabolical and treacherous\" Arab states for the recent surge of violence in Iraq. Maliki says Iraq is a target for certain countries that support evil and terrorism. He warned that violence has started to expand and will ultimately reach the countries which are backing it. Maliki did not specify which countries support violence in Iraq. In the past, Iraqi authorities blamed Saudi Arabia and Qatar for fueling unrest in their country. Iraq has seen a surge in terrorist attacks over the past year. The army, in recent weeks, has been fighting militants from al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in the western province of Anbar. On Sunday, it launched a major offensive against the militants in the provincial capital, Ramadi.
