Around 200,000 Syrian refugees are currently living in camps through out Turkeys border regions. Turkey shares a 900 km border with Syria. It has been a staunch critic of the government in Damascus . Damascus on the other hand claims Turkey is the biggest perpetrator of the crimes taking place in their country.

Turkeys PM has received a heros welcome on his return to Istanbul after he stormed out of a debate about Gaza at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Recep Tayyip Erdogan had reacted angrily when he was refused the chance to respond to Israeli President Shimon Peres defence of the operation. Thousands of people turned out in the city to greet Mr Erdogans plane. He told them Mr Peres language and tone had been unacceptable so he acted to stand up for Turkish honour.

Major opposition parties have slammed Erdogan not only for aiding the militants, but also for the lax border patrol that recently resulted in dozens of deaths in the Turkish border town of Reyhanli. In other developments, the Turkish President Abdullah Gul has praised the European Union for lifting an arms embargo on the foreign-backed militants fighting the Syrian government. New information has been released about the Gezi park protests that happened in Turkey throughout this summer. The protests started over the ruling AK Party\\\'s decision to destroy the last remainig park to Istanbul iconic Taxsim square. The protests quickly spiraled into mass anti-government rallies through out the country. The protesters condemned the ruling AK Party and its leader Prime Minister Recep Teyyip Erdogan. They also accused the government of being dictatorial with a hidden religious agenda in store for Turkeys secular society.
