Pakistan\'s interior minister says the government plans to put former military ruler Parviz Musharraf on trial for treason. Musharraf would be the first military ruler tried for treason in a country that has experienced three military coups in its 66-year history. He could face the death penalty if convicted of treason for declaring a state of emergency while in power. Musharraf has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Musharraf was forced to step down in 2008 after ruling for about a decade and left the country shortly afterwards. He returned to Pakistan in March to run in the national elections in May, but was disqualified. Musharraf had been held under house arrest for months and was freed earlier this month after he received bail in four other cases, including the investigation of the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

A Bahraini opposition group says the British government has a negative attitude to the revolution in the Persian Gulf state and rather supports the suppressive al-Khalifa regime in the country. Last week, Cameron hosted talks with Bahraini ruler King Hamad al-Khalifa in London but no details of the meeting were made public except a brief statement by the British PM’s office. “Cameron reiterated Britain’s support for ongoing political reform in Bahrain. The Prime Minister also encouraged His Majesty to continue to demonstrate substantive progress in all areas,” the statement said. Ahead of his visit to London, the Bahraini dictator amended a law on public gatherings to “ban organizing protests, rallies, gatherings or sit-ins in Manama, with the exception of sit-ins outside (offices of) international organizations\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\". Ahead of Hamad’s visit on Tuesday, human rights group Amnesty International warned Cameron that Bahrain is displaying “a façade of supposed reform” though the reality is that “critics and dissenting voices are just locked up and silenced”. Fazel said the Bahraini opposition groups will surely continue peaceful protests, especially the Tamarod demonstration planned for August 14, despite the regime being fully geared up to suppress public rallies in the coming days.

Historians say Hazrat Zainab inherited bravery honesty and fluency in speech from her father Imam Ali a.s. and kindness and loyalty from her mother Hazrat Fatema s.a. She made great efforts in giving religious training to the women of her time and thus many women at that time benefited from Hazrat Zainab s knowledge and teachings. Hazrat Zainab s.a. spent her fruitful life in promoting monotheism and assuming divine responsibilities and her heroic participation in the greatest epic of history - namely the uprising of Imam Hussein a.s. in Karbala brought her a lasting name. Imam Sajjad a.s. says - I saw my aunt Hazrat Zainab s.a. saying her prayers while sitting. A major part of Hazrat Zainab s mission started when Karbala tragedy apparently ended with the martyrdom of Imam Hussein a.s. This chapter of Hazrat Zainab s life began with conveying the message of Ashura in which she heroically defended the rights of the household - ahlul bait - and did not permit the enemies to take advantage of Karbala tragedy. In this tragedy the Omayyud ruler Yazid l.a. and his followers l.a. thought that they had succeeded in creating a negative image of the holy Prophet s household but when the caravan of the household members now in captivity arrived in Kufa - Hazrat Zainab s.a. behaved in such a way that she managed to turn the so-called victory of the Omayyud into a defeat. In her famous address She changed the mentality of the people of Kufa and Damascus. She symbolized a shining sun who reflected light into everything. Although Hazrat Zainab s.a. did not live long after Karbala tragedy she sowed the seeds of awareness in the entire Islamic society. This great lady passed away in 62 AH after she made lots of efforts in the path of truth. Once again we offer our condolences and bring you an excerpt from her historic statement addressed to Yazid. She says - O Yazid practice any trick you can and do anything that you think would vanish Islam. But you should know that you can not eradicate our message our path and our remembrance. This is a ‘meccan’ surah. Asr means age which implies continuity of time. According to some commentators it is a reference to the period in which the Holy Prophet (s) was sent into this world to preach the religion of ALLAH (swt), Islam, so that mankind, in all ages, come out from the darkness of ignorance into the light of divine guidance and reach higher realms of spiritual bliss. Some say that it refers to afternoon prayers (salatul asr). Imam Jafar bin Muhammad as Sadiq (as) said: \"It refers to the age when the living Imam of the Ahl ul Bayt, Muhammad bin Hasan al Mahdi al Qa-im (ajtfs), will be commissioned by ALLAH (swt) to administer the society of all human beings under the law of ALLAH (swt) prescribed in the religion of Islam.\" Whether it refers to the time of the Holy Prophet (s) or his true successor who will act according to the teachings and laws he brought from ALLAH (swt) to guide mankind, those who follow them will achieve success in the life of hereafter, and those who reject them will be the losers. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) has said that the person who recites this surah in his recommended prayers will have a shining face on the Day of Judgement. The one who recites this surah will be patient in adversity and will be counted from among the people of truth. If this surah is written after ‘Isha prayers and kept, it will be a safety from the tyrant ruler in whose presence one is brought.

Imam Musa Sadr A member of Lebanese Amal Movement has described the abduction of Lebanon\'s Shia cleric Imam Moussa al-Sadr as a deliberate ploy by the United States and international Zionism. Khalil Hamdan, who headed a delegation representing the Amal Movement, told reporters in the Iranian capital of Tehran that the US and \'Zionists\' used Libya\'s fugitive ruler Muammar Gaddafi to implement the ploy in order to undermine the Lebanese movement, IRNA reported on Monday. Sadr, the founder of Lebanon\'s Amal Movement, was a popular and highly revered Lebanese Shia cleric of Iranian descent that disappeared on August 31, 1978 while visiting Libya. Hamdan further made reference to Sadr\'s endeavors to illuminate and spread the values of the Islamic Revolution and noted that Imam Moussa had elaborated on the point in his last article before his abduction. Accompanied by two of his companions, Mohammed Yaqoub and Abbas Badreddin, Sadr was scheduled to meet with officials from the then government of Gaddafi. At the time, Libyan authorities claimed that the Iranian-born influential cleric and his associates had boarded a flight to Rome, Italy. However, Italian officials said the three men were never found on the plane. Born in the Iranian city of Qom, Sadr went to Lebanon in 1959 to work for the civil rights of Shias in the southern city of Tyre. In 1974, a year before Lebanon\'s 15-year civil war broke out, he founded the Movement of the Deprived, attracting thousands of followers. In 1975, Sadr founded Amal, the first major resistance and political force for Lebanon\'s Shias, who were historically under the rule of Christians and Sunnis. Most of Sadr\'s followers are convinced that Gaddafi ordered his assassination in a dispute over Libyan payments to Lebanese groups, but the Imam\'s family argues he could still be alive in a Libyan jail. In 2008, the Lebanese government issued an arrest warrant for Gaddafi over Sadr\'s disappearance. Lebanon has recognized Libya\'s Transitional National Council (TNC), saying it would work with \"emerging authorities\" in the North African country to uncover the fate of the missing cleric.

It was in February 2011 when thousands of Bahrainis most of them from the country's Shia majority took to the streets to demand political reform. The Bahraini government reacted to the protests with a mixture of violent repression, and offers of limited concessions. More than seven months later this time in New York City and on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Bahrainis and their supporters gather to call on the government of Hamed Bin Khalifa to end its brutal oppression against its people. While the gathering is a humble one, the demonstrator's voices are loud and clear, they're calling for a free Bahrain for all. The demonstrators stand united in front of the Bahraini mission where the Kingdom's ambassador to the UN is rumored to be having lunch with King Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain. While the ill treatment of the Shia population has made headlines around the world since protests erupted, for many demonstrators here the rally is about upholding core human values, regardless of religious affiliations. Hussain Abdullah, Director of the advocacy group Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain says the majority of the population are living under state oppression and the government needs to know that the voices of reason will not remain silent.
