This was the last footage we received of Press TV correspondent Hassan Ghani reporting from the Freedom Wave, two boats led by groups from Canada and Ireland, attempting to break the siege on Gaza and get aid to the impoverished strip.
Several hours later, Hassan tells us the boat is being surrounded.
As we wrap up the conversation just 5 minutes later, the situation intensifies.
That's the last we heard from Hassan. Israel raided the flotilla, and arrested those on board. They are now in Israeli jail. We spoke to Hassan's father Haq for the latest he's heard from his son.
Hassan was also aboard the Mavi Marmara that was attacked by the Israeli Military, leaving nine people dead. He was arrested and warned never to return.
This time he was on-board with former press TV journalist Jihan Hafiz who was reporting for U-S based democracy now and other journalists too. Gazan journalist and activist Sameh Habeeb says the Israeli action is all a part of the siege strategy.
Israel had called the freedom wave a provocation and a threat to its national security.
We contacted the foreign office who told us that a consular officer will be visiting Hassan again Sunday morning, that all detainees were moved quickly through the port and immigration to a detention center and that Hassan had called his arrest “extremely objectionable in principle”. They say it is very likely that Hassan will be deported from Israel soon. But for now he remains a journalist in an Israeli prison for no other reason than doing his job. And the status of those on board with him remains unclear.

Western media has gradually been increasing its reporting on Iran, the same pattern of reporting that was perceived during the lead up to the war on Iraq.
The media is believed to have played an important role in generating acceptance for the Iraq war, simply by calling Iraq its enemy, and by repeatedly feeding the public information and reasons for waging war against Iraq.
The biggest reason was to stop the potential threat of attack by its weapons of mass destruction; yet even now, almost a decade later, there is still no evidence that Iraq had any weapons of mass destruction at all.

Concerned about the devastation currently being inflicted on the people of Lebanon and Palestine by the Israeli Military Forces and with the very limited and biased reporting on these conflicts presented by most American media networks - students organized a teach-in on the UC Berkeley campus in order to give students faculty and the Bay Area community at large achance to gain a greater understanding of these events and to participate in an open discussion on their significance for both Americans and the people of the Middle East. During the first hour of this two-hour event four scholars with expertise in the Middle East presented short analyses - 15 minutes each - of the historical and political dimensions of this conflict focusing on the following themes. 1. The role US foreign policy has played in enabling and authorizing the Israeli bombardment 2. The origins and historical development of Hezbollah and the role of this movement within Lebanese social and political arenas 3. The shifting political alignments within Israel and their relation to the current war on Lebanon and to Israels role in the region more broadly 4. The impact of Israeli military actions in Gaza and the West Bank on the lives of Palestinians and the political landscape of the Palestinian society. The presentations were followed by audience questions and comments which is what this video is about. Speakers in the first part included Judith Butler Beshara Doumani Charles Hirschkind Saba Mahmood Zeina Zaatari The teach-in took place on September 7th 2006. Hundreds of Palestinian villagers have made a short but symbolic march to the separation wall that Israel has built on their land, a non-violent protests that they regularly undertake.
Equally, the protesters, marching from the village of Bilin, are regularly met with a violent response from the Israeli army.
"The village of Bilin is literally on the frontline of Israel's confiscation of Palestinian land and the construction of its separation barrier," Jacky Rowland, Al Jazeera's correspondent reporting from the village, said.
"Later today the villagers of Bilin will protest the fact that not only they, but also five neighbouring villages, have lost their land which has been seized to build an Israeli settlement.
"This huge settlement will result in 40,000 Jewish settlers living on occupied land here in the West Bank and as Prime Minister [Binyamin] Netanyahu is planning to give the go ahead for even more of these settlement homes to be built," she said.
Netanyahu is set to approve plans to build hundreds of new homes on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, before considering US demands for a construction freeze.

Death toll from Gaza aid attack hits 20
Mon, 31 May 2010 05:27:14 GMT
Font size :
The death toll from the Israeli navy's takeover of a Gaza aid convoy has risen to 20 while Israel carefully censors reports on the casualties from the attack.
Gaza Freedom Flotilla came under fire early on Monday by Israeli navy forces in international waters more than 150km (90 miles) off the coast of Gaza.
The six-ship aid fleet was soon stormed by commandos descending from helicopters.
At least 20 people were killed in the takeover of the Gaza aid convoy, al-Aqsa TV channel reported, saying that more than 50 people, including leader of the Palestinian Islamic Movement Sheikh Raed Salah, were wounded in the attack.
The news trickled through the Israeli military censorship which has sought to block the reporting of any information about the casualties.
A report on the Israeli radio said the censorship was aimed at covering up the number of casualties brought to Israeli hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, Israeli Trade and Industry Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer expressed regret for the deaths aboard the Gaza aid ships.
"The images are certainly not pleasant. I can only voice regret at all the fatalities," he told Israel's Army Radio.
The comments come as the first official acknowledgement by Tel Aviv that the attack had turned fatal.
Israel had initially declined to comment on the reports of casualties from the takeover of the aid ships.

IAEA resolution looms large on Israel
Arab states remain adamant about bringing Israel to account for its nuclear activities by proposing a relevant draft resolution to UN's nuclear watchdog for its upcoming annual conference.
As the 54th annual general conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is set to convene next week, there is great international anticipation for a major focus on Tel Aviv's nuclear activities, after so many years of ignoring the issue.
"The Arab Group urges to keep the item 'Israeli nuclear capabilities' on the agenda of the general conference and ... will submit a draft resolution," said the Sudanese envoy to the organization, Mahmound El-Amin on behalf of 22 Arab states, AFP reported.
"The Arab Group requests the IAEA member states to support the draft resolution and vote in favor of it," he added.
The Israeli regime is widely believed to have manufactured numerous nuclear warheads since 1958, a year after IAEA's inception.
The agency, however, has so far refused to ratify any resolutions on Israel's nuclear activities.
Former US President Jimmy Carter has attested to the existence of the Israeli nuclear arsenal, confirming that it includes between 200 to 300 warheads. Decades of recurrent reporting and aerial footage have also established the Israeli possession of atomic arms.
The IAEA Director General, Yukiya Amano recently reported to the agency's Board of Governors about the nuclear program, saying that Tel Aviv was restricting the agency from examining its nuclear potentials.
The report, however, merely calls on Tel Aviv to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and "place all its nuclear facilities under comprehensive IAEA safeguards," with no enforcement or follow-up measures behind it.
El-Amin called the report "weak and disappointing" and said that the organization uses "double standards" when it comes to Israel.
Efforts by Arab states and other countries caused an NPT review conference in May to issue a statement, highlighting the importance of Tel Aviv's acceding to the treaty and its allowing the IAEA to fully inspect its nuclear sites.
The United States, Israel's strongest ally, has served its Arab allies with a warning against supporting the draft resolution on Israel's nuclear activities, arguing that it poses risks to the renewed direct talks between the Tel Aviv regime and the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Many Palestinian groups have already abandoned hope in the process, citing the White House's partiality in favor of the Israelis and arguing that the acting PA Chief, Mahmoud Abbas, does not represent most Palestinians.

Ahmadinejad: IAEA under pressure
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is under Western pressure when it comes to reporting on Iran's nuclear program.
"Western powers have dominated the agency. So when they prepare a new report they pick on two issues," Ahmadinejad told reporters on Friday. "They are not even sure to which legal article they can adhere to when they seek to speak against us."
"They speak in general terms, and do not provide any evidence to show that we have committed any violations," he added.
The president criticized the agency's latest report, in which Director General Yukiya Amano concludes that the IAEA verifies the non-diversion of "declared" nuclear material in Iran, but has adopted unusual wording with regard to the country's safeguards obligations.
"We say we have shown you everything that we have...and when we ask them to show proof of the existence of this undeclared material, they ask us in turn to offer evidence that they are non-existent."
Iranian officials reject Western accusations that Tehran is pursuing a military nuclear program, arguing that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Iran has the right to peaceful nuclear energy.

Panorama is the BBC's flagship current affairs investigative programme, watched by millions of people.
In recent years it has produced several programmes on Iran, usually from a critical point of view.
In its latest episode Panorama accused the Islamic Republic of human rights abuses, and Press TV of spreading Iranian propaganda.
Over the years, the BBC and Panorama have been the target of much anger over their Iran coverage. This demonstration took place outside the BBC in 2009 to protest the corporation's reporting of the Iranian elections.
And critics feel this latest Panorama programme is part of a wider politically motivated attempt to target Iran.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary of celebration of the national media watch group, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, world-renowned political dissident and linguist Noam Chomsky analyzes the U.S. response to the popular uprisings sweeping the Middle East and North Africa. Democracy Now! was there to tape his speech. "Across the [Middle East], the overwhelming majority of the population regards the United States as the main threat to their interests," Chomsky says. "The reason is very simple ... Plainly, the U.S. and allies are not going to want governments, which are responsive to the will of the people. If that happens, not only will the U.S. not control the region, but it will be thrown out."

In a TV story about a shooting that took place in a Chicago neighborhood a reporter chooses to talk to a 4 year old boy to get reaction.
We apologize for the video quality but what's important here is what is said….Listen to how the news anchors promote the story...what the child says ..and how the rest of the story is read
"Meanwhile two city teens are are wounded on the Southside near east 7th. There was 18 year old man and a 16 year old girl were hit The males in good condition and the girl is expected to recover. There children on the scene who all saw it al infold and had disturbing reaction.
Child - No I'm not scared of nothing.
Reporter- when you get older are you going to stay away from these guns
Child - No
Reporter - No What are you going to do when you get older
Child - I'm gonna have me a gun
Anchor - That is very scary indeed. So far no suspects in the shootings."
At first, a viewer might think the children were hardened soon to be street criminals. But someone at Chicago's WBBM leaked the entire interview to journalism watchdog groups Again we apologize for what you see but listen to what the reporter and the child actually said.
"Reporter - when you get older you gonna stay away fromall these guns
Child - No
Reporter - No
Child - No
Reporter - What are you going to do when you get older?
Child - I'm gonna have me a gun
Reporter - You are ( child nods) Why do you want to do that?
Child - I'm gonna be the police
Reporter - OK then I guess you can have one"
The exchange was sent all over the internet as bloggers and media groups blasted the TV Station for editing the story in a way that made the community look more violent. The US Civil rights group the NAACP wants action taken against the reporter and the editor.
In American communities of color, civic groups have long complained about how they are portrayed on television and in newspapers. While many now say this is proof positive of a pervasive and long standing trend in American media, others who watch the industry say its is and isolated incident.
Journalism Scholar and author Al Tompkins spoke with WBBM's New Director. He tells Press TV the station has admitted they made a gross mistake and that personnel responsible were disciplined.
WBBM would not return phone calls to Press TV but issued an apology that said in part “We accept responsibility for the mistakes that were made, both in the reporting and editing of the story. The video of the child should not have aired. ….we have followed up with our employees to make sure that we all have learned from the mistakes that were made.

The Bahrain Independent Commission Inquiry was established on the 29th of June 2011 by King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa. The commission has been tasked with investigating and reporting on the events that took place in Bahrain from February 2011.
There are concerns that there could be serious political and social ramifications from the serious biases and deficiencies in the report. The commission which has been paid for and set up by the regime that has committed these acts has led to human rights organizations to question its legitimacy.
The results of the commission came out on the 23rd of November and the government says it has formed a working group to study the report, which calls for an examination of people's political, economic and social grievances, but opposition parties say no one has contacted them.
Questions have arisen on whether any external pressure for reform especially by the US be thwarted by Saudi Arabia who would not want to empower the opposition in Bahrain. It is also important to note that Bahrain hosts the US fifth fleet.
In this edition of the show we ask; Bahrain: Is the government serious about reforms?
