Egyptian security forces have once again attacked anti-government protesters joining rallies in several cities, killing four protesters.
Dozens of others were injured as security forces fired tear gas and shots at protesters in the capital Cairo, Alexandria and the canal city of Suez. Several demonstrators were also wounded when thugs attacked supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi in the northern city of Damietta. The clashes erupted when anti-government protesters joined rallies after Friday prayers to denounce plans by Defense Minister Abdul Fatah Sisi to run for president. They are also angry over a presidential law issued on Thursday that installs the defense minister as the supreme commander of the military council. Egypt has been the scene of weekly protests since the country\'s first democratically- elected president was ousted last July.

Supporters of Egypt\'s ousted president Mohamed Morsi call for daily protests ahead of his trial.
The Muslim Brotherhood and its allies have issued a statement urging Egyptians to rally in squares to protest against the trial of Morsi and his top aides. The ousted president\'s trial will begin on Monday. The statement also calls on people to gather near Cairo\'s Tora prison, where Morsi\'s trial is expected to take place. Morsi and 14 of his top aides will be tried over charges of inciting violence. Egypt has been witnessing street protests since the army toppled Morsi in early July. At least seven people are killed in anti-government rallies across Egypt, as the country undertakes its first voting since the army\'s ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July.
Over a dozen others have also been injured in several cities. There were also clashes in front of an interior ministry building in Alexandria. Meanwhile, security forces have stormed the campus of the al-Mansoura University in the city with armored vehicles, and used live ammunition and gas canisters against protesting students. This is the first day of a two-day national vote on the country\'s new constitution, drafted by the army-backed interim government. Under the draft text, the formation of religious political parties is banned. Critics say the new charter only favors the army. If approved, it will replace the current constitution which was passed under Morsi. A coalition led by his Muslim Brotherhood movment has boycotted the referendum.

In Bahrain, demonstrations have been held against the regime\'s violent crackdown and the killing of pro-democracy protesters.
In the predominantly Shia village of Bani Jamrah in the northwest, people protested peacefully over the murder of two protesters by the regime forces. Carrying pictures of the slain protesters, they formed a human pyramid at the end of the rally and waved the Bahraini flags. The village has been the scene of a brutal crackdown, with regime forces opening fire on unarmed protesters on many occasions. Earlier on Friday, the police fired tear gas and stun grenades at anti-regime protesters on the island of Sitra, south of the capital Manama. Since 2011, demonstrations against the al Khalifa regime have been held almost every day in Bahrain. Troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were called in to assist the Bahraini regime in its crackdown on protesters.
