Thousands of supporters of Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr have rallied against the US presence in Iraq six years after Saddam Husseins fall.

In Bahrain, protesters have rallied after the leader of the country\'s main opposition group was summoned by police for questioning. The demonstrators marched in the capital Manama as well as the town of Adliyah and Muqabah. Regime forces used tear gas against protesters in Moqabeh. Protesters expressed solidarity with al-Wefaq leader Sheikh Ali Salman and pledged to continue their protests. Al-Wefaq has said the summoning is part of the regime\'s blackmail and revenge campaign against the peaceful opposition. Manama is under fire for a heavy-handed crackdown on dissent.

A group of youth revolutionaries, lawyers and rights activist have rallied in the Yemeni capital Sana\'a condemning the purchase of Yemeni Liquefied Natural Gas by France way below the international price market. The protesters slammed the French company, TOTAL for depriving Yemen of full and fair compensation for its L-N-G sales. Yemeni protesters called for an immediate end to the L-N-G contract between their country and TOTAL. For the past 19 years the French giant has been purchasing L-N-G for 3 dollars per million BTU. Reports say that\'s 11 dollars less than the average international market price of L-N-G sales.

US Air Raid fuels Afghan anger - 27Jan09 - English. Afghan civilians have rallied against America amid reports that civilians were killed in a US air raid over the weekend. The US military says 15 fighters were killed in Laghman province, but the provincial governor says at least 10 civilians were among the dead.

Egyptian rights activist Dr. Saad Eddin Ibrahim called the events in Egypt as a revolution, and in response to a question about the impact of revolution on the United States' so-called War on Terror, he had this to say: After the press conference, demonstrators rallied in front of the White House to make their demands known. These include withdrawing military and economic aid from Egypt, which is the second highest recipient of foreign aid from the U.S. after Israel, at an annual $2 billion. Though the world's eye is currently transfixed on Egypt, these demonstrators turn to the White House in demanding an end of U.S. support for the Mubarak regime.

Supporters have gathered to renew adherence to their party led by president Bashar al-Assad, expressing confidence in the party’s ability to build a new Syria stronger than before.

Demonstrations have taken center stage in the Gulf, where tens of thousands rallied in Iran and Bahrain against the latter's integration plans with Saudi Arabia. In Bahrain crowds chanted that their country was 'not for sale', while Tehran said the proposed deal was a plot aimed at wiping the entire state off the map. Protesters poured onto the streets of Egypt in full swing on Friday. All political factions rallied in one last show of power before the much anticipated June 30th protests to mark the first anniversary of the inauguration of President Mohamed Morsi. Two main protests took place in the capital Cairo with similar gatherings in other cities.

The military coup against Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi has sparked a wave of anger in Yemen. Thousands of Morsi-supporters have rallied in the streets of the Yemeni capital Sana\'a to show their support to the ousted president of Egypt. Protesters condemned Morsi\'s ouster from power and called for his immediate reinstatement. Yemeni female protesters also joined the pro-Morsi demonstration. Families of hunger striking Palestinian and Jordanian prisoners held in Israeli jails, have rallied in front of the International Committee of the Red Cross office in the central West Bank city of al Bireh. The prisoners are currently refusing food in protest to their treatment by Israeli authorities. 5 of the prisoners refusing food from their Israeli jailers have Jordanian citizenship, while the rest hold identity cards issued by the Palestinian Authority.
