[28 June 2012] Should Muslims show concern for occupation of Afghanistan during Olympics - Islam And Life - English
Contrary to its official mottos, modern Olympic Games have been very much politicized. Governments used it as a propaganda tool for their political ideologies, most notably nationalism.
It has been used to propagate Euro centrism, fascism, communism, racial superiority and of course as a marketing and advertising instrument.
Anti-racist and human right activists have used it as platform for their ideas. In 1980, to protest Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan, more than 60 countries followed the United States to boycott the Moscow Olympic Games.
Many Muslim countries joined the boycott, among them Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan.
In a similar way, the host nation of the 2012 London Olympic Games has invaded at least two Muslim countries. It still has military presence in one of the, Afghanistan.

Tensions are as high as ever as high on the Turkish Syrian border as Ankara is heavily increasing its troops along its southern frontiers. This week Turkey threatened Syria with an appropriate retaliation after the Syrian forces shot down a Turkish fighter jet. Syria says it has downed the plane after violation of its airspace, Turkey claims otherwise.

[01 July 2012] Barclays bank fined 290mn pounds over financial scandal - English
Barclays bank was hit with 290 million pounds in fines for a serious widespread role in trying to manipulate interest rates and the cost of borrowing. Barclays chairman Marcus Agius has resigned over the scandal and is scheduled to appear before lawmakers on the Treasury Committee on Thursday to answer their questions. In an interview to mark the fifth anniversary of Tony Blair's resignation as the British Prime Minister, he said that he would be willing to do it all again and that he had learned much in the last five years to make him a better premiere.
However, Blair has never apologized and will never face a trial for crimes he committed in Iraq. He even claims that things in Iraq are getting better and the country's economy is growing. "Some of us will never forget the hundreds of thousands of children who died under sanctions at his [Blair] hands, and the countless more who perished thereafter, again at his hands, under shot and shell," said George Galloway.

[03 July 2012] Saudi Arabia invested in Syria crisis - English
UN human rights chief Navi Pillay says the flow of arms into Syria is "fueling the violence" in the Arab country, calling for an end to the militarization of the ongoing conflict.
Pillay did not specify where the arms are coming from, but UN diplomats believe that Saudi Arabia and Qatar have been supplying weapons to the armed Syrian rebels.
The UN official claimed that the situation in Syria is "a non-international internal armed conflict," the legal term for a civil war, saying "there is a risk of escalation."
While the West and the Syrian opposition say the government is responsible for the killings, Damascus blames "outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups" for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.

Human rights group B'Tselem has uploaded a video showing Israeli police officers brutally attacking a Palestinian child, providing more evidence of Israeli violence against Palestinian children.
The video shows a border policeman apprehending a nine-year-old boy, identified as Abd al-Rahman Burkan, and knocking him to the ground while the child shouts, near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the south of the occupied West Bank on June 29.
A second policeman is then seen approaching the child and kicking him.

[03 July 2012] Iran military power defensive not offensive - English
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' (IRGC) has begun its military drill, the Great Prophet 7, by firing indigenously made missiles at hypothetical enemy bases.
On Tuesday, IRGC's long, medium and short-range missiles targeted "simulations of the trans-regional forces' airbases" in the northern Semnan Desert.
The domestically-produced missiles include Shahab (Meteor) 1, 2, 3, Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf), Tondar (Lightning), Fateh (Victor) and Zelzal (Quake) as well as Qiam (Uprising).
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says the ongoing drill in the central sector of the country is intended to convey a message of sovereignty and full preparedness to establish security in the Persian Gulf as well as the Strait of Hormuz.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Nader Mokhtari, a columnist and commentator, to further talk over the issue.

[03 July 2012] US ships available for Iran missiles - News Analysis - English
The most severe punitive measures ever taken against a nation, that's how Iran's president described US and European unilateral sanctions on Tehran over allegations it's pursuing a nuclear weapons program.
These charges Iran has persistently denied citing a lack of evidence to the contrary despite years of inspections.
On this edition of News Analysis we are looking at how Iran is responding to the actions of countries it says that are standing against the Iranian nation.
