[22 April 2012] F1 race hinders Bahrain revolution - News Analysis - Presstv - English
In Bahrain, the determination of Formula One's governing body to press ahead with the Grand Prix has delighted the country's rulers, who portray it as a sign that the Persian Gulf state is back to normal. Yet, it is anything but that.
Are Western govt.'s, with strong security and commercial ties with Bahrain, behind them, and the sponsors? Protesters have called for Days of Rage prior and after Formula One. Meanwhile, Saudi-backed Bahraini forces continued human rights violations, along with UK's John Yates threat of the use of live rounds, much more coming up shortly in this edition of the News Analysis.

[06 July 2012] Bahrain revolution still alive - English
The Persian Gulf Island of Bahrain has experienced near daily anti-govt. protests for more than 16 months, but you don't hear an outcry from Western countries like the US, or the international community for that matter over the situation there, unlike their reaction to Syria. The Bahraini regime even arrested an 11 year old boy recently for taking part in demonstrations.

An NSA training video, provided by whistleblower, Edward Snowden, shows how easy it is for government agents to gain access to the emails, phone calls, and Internet searches of American citizens. Just a few clicks on the computer – no court order needed – and it\'s done. What a powerful tool this is for blackmailing anyone who is in disfavor with the government. This information also is available to corporations, wealthy individuals, and criminals with off-the-record political influence.

Angola has banned Islam, claiming that it clashes with its customs and state religion.
The Angolan government says Islam is not a religion but a sect, and as part of the ban, all mosques will be destroyed in the Christian-majority country. According to the Islamic Community of Angola, there are more than eighty mosques and about half a million Muslims in the country, and the number is growing. Angola\'s culture ministry says the houses of worship of other faiths which have not been legalized will also be demolished. Angola is the first country in the world to ban Islam.

On the war on Syria: is there a policy shift from the US? Take for example, what US national security advisor, Susan Rice has said: The White House is currently revisiting both old and new options on how best to approach the Syrian crisis, saying it could become a breeding ground for terrorists, fearing its fragmentation, with the ouster of Bashar al-Assad no longer the number one priority. In this edition of the debate, we\'ll discuss why this policy shift, whether it has any connection to Saudi Arabia\'s new appointment of the Syrian file, Prince Nayef, and how reverting to fighting terrorism as a priority sounds a lot like what the Syrian govt. delegation said at the failed Geneva 2 talks. Or is this a possible sign of US military intervention?
