Iraqi forces are pressing on with their offensive against al-Qaeda-linked militants in the western province of Anbar. Troops-- backed by Sunni tribesmen-- continue their attack on insurgents who are in control of some neighborhoods in the city of Ramadi. Reports coming out of the area say a dozen security personnel have been injured by militant snipers during the operations. Over the past weeks, security forces have been fighting militants around Anbar\'s provincial capital, as well as and the nearby city of Fallujah. The militants are considered to be behind a surge of deadly violence across the country.

Chuck Hagel is in Islamabad, the first ever visit by a US Defense Secretary over the past four years. What brings him to Pakistan is continued unofficial blockage of NATO supply line via northwestern routes of the country to Afghanistan. However, the central government in Islamabad has little control over autonomous northwestern provincial government. The regional government unofficially blocked the supply routes last month to protest against the killing of thousands of civilians in US drone attacks in country\'s tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

The White House is trying to press Congress to hold off imposing more sanctions on Iran. Sherman was testifying at a Senate Banking Committee. Her appeal comes as some hard-line US lawmakers push to impose more sanctions on Tehran. But the Obama administration has so far persuaded them to hold off, saying more action could harm ongoing talks with Iran over its nuclear energy program. Tehran has warned that any new US sanctions will kill a deal between Iran and the five permanganate members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in Geneva.

The fact is that the policies NAM pursues can affect the lives of 4 billion of the world\'s population, and aid a shift in the imbalance of power in global political and financial arenas. In view of this the Islamic Republic of Iran has announced it plans to use the unique opportunity presented it by assuming NAM presidency to fight global crises. So what will Iran\'s strategy be for utilizing NAM potential to solve pressing global issues, especially those that effect NAM member states. In this edition of the show we will be discussing Iran\'s NAM presidency in the next three years.

Al-Ghadir Day has been commemorated in the Yemeni capital by Shia community, who believe that on this day Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) appointed his cousin and son-in-law Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (AS) as the leader of Muslims more than fourteen centuries ago in the prophet\'s farewell speech. Prominent members of the Houthi community who spoke at the podium, said, that Al-Ghadir day is one of the most important events to occur in Islamic history- in which Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) was dignified and givev elevated status by God, the Almighty. The Houthi religious leader Abdul-Malik al Houthi also addressed the gathering via video conferencing from the north province of Sa\'ada. In his 40 minute speech, the Houthi leader highlighted the pressing issues facing the Muslim world. He said he believes the reason for chaos across the Islamic world- is their leaders who often seek protection and assistance from those he referred to as enemies of Islam. Houthis in Yemen say they look to commemorate Al-Ghadir Day every year by calling on all Muslim nations to relinquish dependency on the West. The Day of Al-Ghadir is significant in the Islamic history which is commemorated every year by Shia Muslims in Yemen. This is an auspicious day which many believe brought about the completion of the holy religion of Islam more than fourteen centuries ago.

Washington is pressing Kabul to sign a security pact that allows US troops to stay in Afghanistan beyond 20-14. But the two sides are still at loggerheads over several issues. Meanwhile, Afghan protesters have rallied in the eastern Kunar province to show their anger at US night-time raids and drone strikes. Protesters say the attacks only target civilians. A foreign ministry spokesman has also voiced Kabul\'s opposition to the strikes.

Palestinians have staged a protest in the occupied West Bank to denounce Israel\'s settlement construction on their land. The demonstrators marched into the Maale Adumim settlement which is considered one of the largest Israeli settlements. Israeli forces were deployed to break up the protest. Press TV has learned that the troops used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the protesters. A number of demonstrators were arrested. settlement is pressing ahead with its settlement construction plans despite global condemnation.

He said that decades of sanctions have failed to make any impact on the Iranian nuclear program. He added that President Barack Obama is committed and needs the help of Congress to resolve the nuclear issue, which he called-QUOTE- the most urgent, critical, and pressing. At one point, Kerry also said the military option against Iran is not off the table. But he stated he hopes the Iran nuclear issue can be resolved in less than six months

After a week of bloody clashes in southern Yemen, negotiations have resumed in Sana\'a at the national dialogue conference, where the country\'s political factions have been meeting for over the past 8 months to find solutions for the pressing issues. One of the main issues is the southern case which remains unresolved. A new proposal was put forward last week which insists on the creation of a federal system. Southern representatives in the NDC however say justice must first be served for the years of repression sustained in the south under the previous regime.
