Particularly speaking about women, the Bahraini Opposition overseas added in its statement that alongside men, the women in Bahrain have stood up to the government demanding their rights, having in return to bear imprisonment, torture, and martyrdom at times. The statement further noted that despite all this aggression, the Bahraini free women are still steadfast and unyielding. The Bahraini Opposition overseas, therefore "called on the women of the Arab Nation as well as the World, to stand in defense of the Bahraini oppressed women, by that declaring the 15tho f April a day of solidarity with the women of Bahrain under the slogan "Free Women of Bahrain"." Also, the Opposition urged all women's rights organizations in its statement , whether Arab, Islamic, or international to declare a clear rejection of what the women in Bahrain is subject to, which falls into the category of the these organizations' legal, ethical, and humanitarian duties. The new study, conducted by the Nobel Prize winner for economics Joseph Stiglitz and Harvard University Professor Linda Bilmes, shows that the long-term costs of the US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq doubles initial estimates, suggesting the revised six-trillion-dollar figure. The analyst also warned that "the institutional interests of the military itself [is] so enormous that the [US] military is absolutely determined to avoid an end to this war any time soon." House Veterans Affairs Chairman, Bob Filner (D-California), stated: "This may be more of a crisis than the Medicare and Social Security problems we have looming...It rivals both in the potential impact. This is another entitlement we've committed ourselves to, and it could break the bank." Filner aims on utilizing the latest cost estimates to propose a "veterans trust fund" to pay for the long-term war expenses, a proposal that has so far found minimal support in the Democratic-led House due to the startling price tag associated with it. Having already blown past original cost projections, combat operations alone in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan have cost nearly $1.1 trillion in nine years. The United States claims to be targeting militants with its assassination drone attacks overseas, but reports indicate the airstrikes have mostly led to civilian casualties in Somalia and several other Muslim countries. Anti drone activists say that Somalia does not need US interference, especially its drone programs. They say the unmanned aircraft has caused more harm than good. A security expert says that the UAVs have led to higher civilian deaths in Somalia since its inception.

Polls have officially opened in Iran for presidential, and city and rural council elections with nearly 50.5 million people eligible to vote. The Iranians began casting their ballots at 8:00 am (0330 GMT) on Friday with the polls scheduled to remain open for ten hours. The time can be extended if necessary. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei cast his ballot minutes into the polls. More than 1.6 million of those eligible to vote are first-time voters. Over 60,000 polling stations have been set up across the country, while Iranian nationals abroad will also be also able to vote at 285 overseas polling stations. Vote counting will begin at the polling stations immediately after the voting ends. Voting may be extended if the Interior Ministry sees necessary. Opinion polls show the presidential election is headed for a runoff. They also predict a 60-percent turnout in the polls. The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.

Amid massive turnout of voters in Friday\'s elections, Iranian religious minorities and expatriates have also joined their compatriots to cast their ballots, Press TV reports. \"We Zoroastrians always, especially today on June 14th that\'s a very special day, feel [that] we are part of the elections because we would like to [participate in the election].... We are duty-bound religiously ... to stand shoulder by shoulder alongside our Muslim, Christian, Jewish and other religious minorities to take part in the enthusiastic elections,\" Rashid Khorshidian, a Zoroastrian voter, told Press TV. \"When it comes to the destiny of Iran, we should all try to pick the right and most qualified person as the next president so that he would be able to serve Iran,\" Ebrahim Saidian, a Jewish voter, told Press TV. Iranian expatriates in over 90 countries are also voting to choose a new president for their country. Over 850,000 ballot papers have been sent to polling stations overseas.

China has reported an unexpected fall in its exports, putting pressure on the government as it pushes through a re-balancing of the economy. According to the General Administration of Customs, exports fell 3.1 percent in June from a year earlier. The weak overseas demand for Chinese goods came as a surprise to analysts, many of whom had predicted an increase of around 4 percent. Imports over the same period fell by 0.7 percent, pointing to subdued domestic demand. The overall assessment was downbeat.

The NSA says its tracking of cell phones overseas is legally authorized under a presidential order. The intelligence agency says it isn\'t tracking every foreign phone call, and it takes measures to limit how much US data is collected.
