In this segment, the religious scholars visit the sister of Imam Musa al-Sadr, Rabab Sadr. Sayyid Musá a?-?adr (1929-disappeared in 1978) (Arabic: ????? ???? ??????, Persian: ???? ???? ???, also transliterated Musa-ye Sader, Moussa Sadr and many other variants), was an Iranian-born Lebanese philosopher and a prominent Shiah religious leader who spent many years of his life in Lebanon as a religious and political leader. Musá a?-?adr was born in Qom, Iran in 1929 to the prominent Lebanese a?-?adr family of theologians. His father was Ayatollah ?adr ad-Din a?-?adr, originally from Tyre. Grand Ayatollah Mu?ammad Baqir a?-?adr is a distant cousin. He is said to have worked tirelessly to improve the lot of his community - to give them a voice, to protect them from the ravages of war and intercommunal strife ... A?-?adr was widely seen as a moderate, demanding that the Maronite Christians relinquish some of their power but pursuing ecumenism and peaceful relations between the groups. He was a vocal opponent of Israel but also attacked the PLO for endangering Lebanese civilians with their attacks. In 1974 he founded the Movement of the Disinherited to press for better economic and social conditions for the Shiah. He established a number of schools and medical clinics throughout southern Lebanon, many of which are still in operation today. It is widely believed that the Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi ordered a?-?adr\'s killing, but the motivation is unknown. Libya has consistently denied responsibility, claiming that a?-?adr and his companions left Libya for Italy. Some others have reported that he remains secretly in jail in Libya. A?-?adr\'s disappearance continues to be a major dispute between Lebanon and Libya. Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri claimed that the Libyan regime, and particularly the Libyan leader, were responsible for the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr, London-based Asharq Al-Awsat, a Saudi-run pan-Arab daily reported on 27 August 2006. On Monday, Feb. 15th, Cinema du Parc received an email insisting that CJPME's Photo Exposition, Human Drama in Gaza, be immediately removed from the Cinema. The email was from a legal representative of Gestion Redbourne PDP Inc., the owners of the building housing Cinema du Parc. The Cinema has hosted dozens of expositions in the past three years, and this is the first time that such action has been taken. This move on the part of Redbourne seems entirely political, to muzzle the message of Human Drama in Gaza. On Monday, Feb. 15th, the critically acclaimed Human Drama in Gaza Photo Exposition in Montreal was threatened with closure by Gestion Redbourne PDP Inc., the real estate management firm owning the property housing the Exposition. A legal representative of Redbourne, Lieba Shell, sent an email late in the day to the exposition host, Cinema du Parc, ordering the removal of the exposition and threatening legal action if the exposition were not taken down by evening. Cinema du Parc and Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) – the producer of the exposition – asserted through their legal advisor, Mark H. Arnold, that such threats from Redbourne were not lawful. Human Drama in Gaza was launched in mid-January, and received very positive reviews in several media. Redbourne, however, demanded the removal of the exposition based on a paragraph in the lease that Cinema du Parc has with Redbourne relating to “purely cinemagraphic use” of the premises. Arnold, however, asserted that the cinema’s hosting of a photo exposition would very much constitute cinemagraphic use of the premises. Officials with Cinema du Parc also pointed out that the cinema has hosted dozens of photo expositions in the past several years, and has never had a complaint from Redbourne, the landlord. “This move on the part of Redbourne is clearly political,” declared Thomas Woodley, President of CJPME. “Cinema du Parc is known for its ongoing expositions which touch on important issues of social concern, and Redbourne never had an issue in the past.” Last week, both Cinema du Parc and Place du Parc (the shopping mall housing the cinema and owned by Redbourne) received emails and calls from individuals unhappy with the Human Drama in Gaza exposition. The complaints accused the exposition of being anti-Israel, but stopped short of questioning the credibility of the exposition content. “The suffering of the 1.5 million people of Gaza is an important social issue like any other,” asserted Woodley. “The fact that certain people wish to stifle open discussion on Gaza is even more a reason to bring the debate out into the open.” According to CJPME, the exposition itself seeks to put a human face to the misery of the people of Gaza, and the poignant resilience of a people facing severe adversity. The captions accompanying the photos cite statistics and legal analyses of Israel’s 22-day assault on Gaza of last winter. The legal advisor to CJPME pointed out that if security forces from Redbourne were to attempt to forcibly remove the exposition, they would be considered trespassers. February 8th, 2010, 6:01 pm Eleven people were arrested Monday evening during a raucous lecture at UC Irvine where Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren came to talk about U.S.-Israel relations. (UCI earlier said that 12 were arrested.) Oren was interrupted 10 times Monday while trying to give his speech before 500 people at the UCI Student Center, where there was heavy security. Oren took a 20 minute break after the fourth protest, asked for hospitality and resumed his speech, only to be interrupted again by young men yelling at him every few minutes. Many members of the audience also applauded Oren. After the 10th interruption, several dozens students who opposed Oren’s talk got up and walked out and staged a protest outside. It is not clear whether they were members of the UCI Muslim Student Union, which issued an email earlier in the day condemning Oren’s appearance on campus. Oren continued talking, completing his speech at 6:42 p.m. Originally, he planned to take question from the audience. But that was canceled after the repeated delays. The second person yelled about “Zionism.” The third yelled, “Israel.” The fourth could not be clearly heard. UCI Police Chief Paul Henisey said it is not clear whether any of the protesters are UCI students. Mark Petracca, a UCI political science professor, lost his temper and yelled, “This is embarrassing … Shame on all of you.” UCI Chancellor Michael Drake also told the audience that he was embarrassed by the outburst. Drake and Petracca were booed by many people, and applauded by others. Hours earlier, UCI’s Muslim Student Union said in an email today that its members “condemn and oppose the presence of Michael Oren, the ambassador of Israel to the United States, on our campus today. We resent that the Law School and the Political Science Department on our campus have agreed to cosponsor a public figure who represents a state that continues to break international and humanitarian law and is condemned by more UN Human Rights Council resolutions than all other countries in the world combined.” The Jewish Federation Orange County said earlier in the day that it had been informed that Oren’s speech at UC Irvine late today might be disrupted by protestors. Shalom C. Elcott, president of JFOC, said in a statement today that, “We have been informed that some students may attempt to disrupt the event. We want to assure the community that our goal is to create a positive environment — indeed, a sacred space – for open dialogue, intellectual debate and civil discourse that befits a university setting.” This was not the first time that there has been confrontation at a political lecture at UCI. In January 2007, Daniel Pipes of the Middle East Forum was interrupted by protesters at UCI while giving a speech titled, “The Threat to Israel’s Existence.” The protesters ended up getting into a brief shouting match with some members of the audience.

A Press TV journalist detained on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla describes mistreatment of activists detained on the aid convoy and his own ordeal in Israeli custody. Still suffering a lack of sleep, Hassan Ghani explained how the Turkish-flagged vessel he was traveling on was surrounded by Israeli navy forces and finally underwent an attack. Authorities had deployed over 2,000 policemen across central Rome but the much feared demonstration organized by the Pitchfork Movement to protest against what its activists call a EU-imposed austerity regime drew 4,000 protesters only in People Square. Originally made up by farmers and truckers, the Pitchfork Movement has grown into a network that includes disgruntled people from different sectors of society. However the movement has lately become fragmented as a result of the infiltration of political groups. The anti-austerity protest was also joined by neo-Fascist group CasaPound and extreme-right-wing movement Forza Nuova. Casapound\'s vice-president was arrested on Saturday for stealing the European Union flag hung outside the Commission\'s representation office in Rome. Pitchfork movement leaders have threatened new actions in the coming days.

A Saudi Shia Muslim has been sentenced to thirty years in prison for throwing petrol bombs at security forces during a protest against Riyadh\\\'s intervention in Bahrain in 2011. The defendant was found guilty of violence and taking part in protests in Qatif in Eastern Province. Saudi Arabia has intervened in Bahrain by sending troops to keep down an uprising there. The uprising in Bahrain is demanding democratic reforms for the Shia majority. The prosecutor had originally demanded the death penalty and is now expected to appeal to a higher court.

Palestinian political prisoner and long term hunger striker Samer al Issawi was greeted by hundreds of supporters, friends and family as he was released from an Israeli jail following the longest hunger strike in Palestinian history. Samer al Azawi was originally captured by the Israeli army and handed a 26 year sentence in 2002. He was released as part of the Gilad Shalit deal alongside over a thousand other prisoners in exchange for 1 Israeli prisoner. However, Asawi was arrested again in July 2012 and held in administrative detention without charge or trial. Following his detention, Asawi went on a 260 day hunger strike in protest against the Israeli\\\'s threatening to renew his original prison sentence for breaking the terms of his parole. Israeli forces raided his family\\\'s home twice just before his release. On Sunday, Israeli authorities gave notices to Issawi\\\'s brother and father, demanding they meet requirements by the Israeli intelligence. Israeli intelligence agents, accompanied by soldiers, told the family they were not allowed to organize any celebrations for Issawi\\\'s release. Samer al Azawi will now join his family in Jerusalem al Quds following a 9 months hunger strike which prompted the Israeli authorities to release him. He stressed the importance of applying international pressure on Israel to release over 4800 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails.

Karim Khan, one of the strong opponents of US assassination drone attacks, went missing since Feb 5 from his residence in the outskirts of Pakistani capital Islamabad. His family says Khan was kidnapped by armed men from Rawalpindi city.Shazad Akbar, senior lawyer who is spearheading the legal battle against the drone strikes, has confirmed the incident. Despite efforts by his family and lawyers, Police and other authorities are not willing to share Khan\'s whereabouts.Karim Khan, originally a resident of North Waziristan, had been an active member of the anti-drone campaign and had organized several protests in Islamabad and Peshawar. He launched his campaign against the US assassination drone strikes after his son and a brother were killed in one of such attacks in 2009.In an exclusive interview for Press TV\'s Infocus program in 2011, Khan criticized Pakistani authorities for their failure to stop US unilateral attacks.
