An analyst says the \'racist and unjustifiable\' US stance of not accepting Palestine as a legitimate body must be condemned as the Palestinians are the internationally acknowledged real owners of Palestine. The comment comes as the United States has objected to the presence of a senior Palestinian official sitting behind a nameplate that read \'State of Palestine\' at the United Nations Security Council. Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the UN, expressed Washington\'s disapproval of the latest move by Palestinians to capitalize on their upgraded UN status as Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki spoke at the Security Council on Wednesday. It was the first Palestinian address to the Council since the UN General Assembly voted to upgrade the status of Palestine to non-member observer state on November 29, 2012. Acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas has once again warned against Israel\\\'s illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. Abbas has threatened to take diplomatic and legal action against what he calls the cancer of Israeli settlement building. He said that Palestine will use its rights as a UN observer to stop Israel\\\'s expansionist agenda. The statements came ahead of a visit to the Middle East by US Secretary of State John Kerry, which begins on Wednesday. Kerry is making the trip in order to try to convince Israel and the Palestinian Authority to agree on a framework for the so-called peace talks. Tel Aviv\\\'s refusal to stop building settlements is one of the stumbling blocks for the US-brokered direct talks. The international community has long viewed Israeli settlements as illegal.

Israel refuses to allow many Palestinian patients from Gaza to seek medical treatment in the occupied territories. According to Palestinian sources, sick people whose transfer documents are marked \"State of Palestine\" are barred from entering Israel. The logo was added to medical transfer documents by Palestinian officials in December. This came after the Palestinian Authority won recognition as a UN observer state despite U-S and Israeli opposition. 70 Palestinian patients who need to go to Israeli hospitals have already been denied entry. Israeli officials are yet to comment on the issue.
