Media reports say the US is re-visiting its options on Syria to step up pressure on the Arab nation. U-S paper The Wall Street Journal says the move means Washington will again consider military and intelligence options, that were previously presented to the White House but set aside in favor of pursuing international talks. The options reportedly range from expanding efforts to train and equip insurgents, to setting-up no-fly zones over Syria. This comes as the U-S is already funding and supplying arms to the militants fighting to topple the Syrian government. The arms supplies have however failed to make changes on the ground in Syria in favor of the insurgents.

[14 Aug 2012] US violates all of the laws on Syria - English The mission of the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in her recent visit to Turkey was to supply the Syrian insurgents with anti-aircraft equipment and missiles, a report says. According to a report published on August 12 by the newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's achievements on the ground against the insurgents in Aleppo have frustrated both Ankara and Washington. The report added that, the US is trying to establish a no-fly zone in Syria in order to weaken the Syrian army's air force. However, they will not succeed. Considering the situation, the US tries to supply the Syrian insurgents with anti-aircraft equipment and Stinger missiles, the report said. U-S military aircraft fly over the disputed islands in the East China Sea without informing Beijing. The move comes days after China declared an air defense zone in the area. The Pentagon\'s spokesman says two U-S military aircraft have conducted operations over the islands disputed by China and Japan. Steve Warren says U-S aircraft carried out QUOTE normal procedures in the area. Under the rules declared by China, aircraft are expected to provide a flight plan, clearly mark their nationality and maintain two-way radio communication to allow them to respond to identification inquiries from Chinese authorities. The East China Sea includes a cluster of islands controlled by Japan but also claimed by China.

The US may have to fly military equipment out of Afghanistan since the land route through Pakistan has been blocked because of anti-US protests. US officials say the possible air shipments would cost an additional one billion dollars. Sending the cargoes out through the normal routes via Pakistan would cost about five billion dollars. Dozens of Pakistani protesters continue to gather on the busy overland route more than a week after Islamabad promised Washington that it would take immediate action to quell the protests. Pakistanis are angry with US drone operations which have left scores of civilians dead and injured in their country.
