Following several days of mass protests that had gripped the country on a national level, the Egyptian army has ousted the country\'s first democratically elected President Mohamed Morsi in a move described by the ousted president as a full military coup. That was the final decision after army\'s 48-hour ultimatum for political factions to reach an agreement came to an end. As dramatic developments keep on unfolding in Egypt and a new president is sworn in , many in the country and around the world are trying to come to grips with the events of the past week and whether or not the military\'s actions could be regarded as a coup.
In Egypt while the overwhelming scene was that of celebrations for what many Egyptians view as the army siding with the people\'s demands. There is another sentiment among Morsi supporters that they have been betrayed by the army\'s actions and call the moves nothing short of an orchestrated military take over.

[22 June 2012] Egypt What is happening And what should happen Comment - English
Thousands of angry Egyptians have camped out in the historic square since Wednesday, calling on the military council to quit power immediately as the electoral authorities delayed the announcement of the final results of the presidential run-off on Thursday as scheduled. Egypt's election committee said on Wednesday they want to look into all complaints from the two candidates before making an announcement. The protesters say the move could be a sign that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) is trying to declare former premier Ahmed Shafiq the winner.
Egyptians cast their ballots in a two-day presidential runoff election on June 16 and 17, which pitted the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, Mohammed Morsi, against Shafiq. On June 18, a member of the Egyptian Electoral Committee confirmed that Morsi is in the lead in the country's run-off presidential election. Early on the day, the Brotherhood had declared Morsi's victory over Shafiq in the voting. Officials from the group had said that Morsi has won 52.5 percent of the counted ballots.

[11 July 2012] Dangerous days ahead for Egypt - English
Egypt's highest court has overturned Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi's decree reinstating the North African county's parliament.
The ruling of the Supreme Constitutional Court was announced on Tuesday, hours after the parliament reconvened briefly on the same day by a presidential decree, the Associated Press reported.
On Sunday, Morsi issued a decree reinstating the dissolved parliament in defiance of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), which dissolved the parliament on June 16 in line with an earlier ruling by the Supreme Constitutional Court.
The move to reinstate the parliament is the first showdown between Morsi and the country's powerful military.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Nabil Mikhail, professor of political science at the George Washington University to further discuss the issue.

Egypt\\\'s ousted president Mohamed Morsi is set to stand trial again.
Cairo\\\'s appeals court has set January twenty-eight as the date for the new trial. Morsi is accused of murder during the time he was freed from a Cairo prison. It goes back to the start of the popular uprising against former dictator Hosni Mubarak in 2011. About one-hundred 30 other people will also face trial along with Morsi. The former leader is already on trial for allegedly inciting the killings of opposition activists during his one year in power. He was toppled by the military in early July last year.

Tensions in Egypt are running high ahead of a new court appearance by ousted president Mohamed Morsi. The anti-coup alliance says at least 19 pro-Morsi protesters have been killed and many others injured in renewed violence.
The casualties have been reported from Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia, and Fayoum. The clashes broke out when security forces fired tear gas, birdshot and live gunfire to disperse protesters. Demonstrators were out joining rallies after Friday prayers to demand an end to military rule and voice opposition to the new constitution. Similar violence has been reported from Suez, Assiut and northern Sinai. Security forces rounded up a large number of protesters across the country. Egypt has been tense ahead of Morsi\\\'s court and an upcoming referendum on a new constitution. Muslim Brotherhood has pledged to boycott the referendum slated to be held later this month.
