These Syrian soldiers are entering the unknown, walking into the edge of the northern quarter of Qusair city, this unit is carrying out a limited mission as part of the second stage of the Syrian military operation in Al-Qusair. The second phase involves a variety of tactics to minimize human losses among Syrian soldiers according a Syrian military source. The Syrian command doesn\'t want to push everything it has into the battle right now so while some attack, others wait.

The Syrian army forces are pushing ahead with their mop-up operations in the country\'s northwest. Syrian soldiers have secured the al-Dweireneh town, east of the al-Nayrab airport in Aleppo. This is the latest in a series of army advances across the country over the recent weeks. On Tuesday, army units regained full control of the Qara town in the strategic al-Qalamoun area in the countryside of the capital Damascus. They also freed a number of towns there. The Qalamoun region is used by militants to cross into Syria from Lebanon.

The Syrian army continues mop-up operations against foreign-backed insurgents on the outskirts of the capital Damascus. Syrian troops have taken over key areas in the suburbs of the city of Adra near Damascus. A large number of militants have been killed during the operation. Adra has been the scene of atrocities against local residents after it was seized by the militants. The insurgents have committed a series of kidnappings and executions, especially targeting religious minority groups in the city over the past few days.

Syrian government forces are going ahead with their mop-up operation in Qusayr after they regained full control of the strategic town. The Lebanese Army finds tunnels in Sidon. The tunnels connect several buildings controlled by supporters of Takfiri cleric Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir. This comes as the Lebanese troops are also going ahead with their mop-up operation following fierce clashes with the armed followers of Sheikh Assir. The Army is reported to be in full control of the city and the troops have seized control of the radical cleric\'s base. The Lebanese troops have also seized rocket launchers, machineguns and military uniforms inside the base. They are still searching for the radical cleric, who\'s a staunch supporter of Takfiri insurgents fighting the Syrian government. Local media say the blast took place when a bomber detonated a car packed with explosives in front of a bus stop in the Sumariyah district. The area in western Damascus is home to a complex-- housing families of soldiers fighting against foreign backed insurgents. Syria has seen a rise in such attacks since government forces escalated their mop-up operations to clear more areas of the foreign-backed militants.

Syrian army has retaken control of a town near the capital Damascus after fierce battles with foreign-backed insurgents. The battles raged on around Deir Atiyah in Qalamoun area that links Damascus to the central city of Homs and east of the capital. The Syrian army has launched a new round of mop-up operations. Clashes are also underway in Marj area near the capital. Some reports say, the army forces have killed at least nine insurgents in the area. Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. Damascus accuses the West and its regional allies of fueling tension by providing the insurgents with money and weapons.

The town of Nabk in the region was re-captured by the army two weeks ago.

There\'s been a deadly bomb attack near the Iraqi city of Baquba. The car bomb explosion in a suburb of the city killed at least 19 people. Over two dozen others were also wounded. Iraqi officials blame such incidents on al-Qaeda elements operating in the country, and also on the remnants of the former Ba\'athist regime. The latest attack comes as Iraqi security forces are conducting mop-up operations in the western province of Anbar. Thousands of people were killed in nationwide terror attacks last year alone.
