[15 July 2012] Israel tortures Palestinian minors Maha Rezeq - English Israeli police officers continue their violence against Palestinian children, brutally attacking and mistreating them in Israeli jails. The Israeli authorities arrest around 700 Palestinian minors annually. Some 200 Palestinian children are arrested on a monthly basis. Press TV has conducted an interview with Maha Rezeq, child protection advocate, to hear her opinion on this issue.

A recently-emerged video from Bahrain shows that the ruling family's relentless crackdown on popular anti-government protests continues to take its toll on Bahraini minors. The video, released by activists, shows how Saudi-backed forces detain children despite the Al Khalifa family's recent lifting of countrywide martial law it had put into force back in March. Youngsters protesting the ongoing violent suppression are shown fleeing police cars on the eastern island of Sitra. The regime forces then catch up with the kids and brutally beat one of them before abducting a number of the children.

The Public Committee Against Torture says the Palestinian minors have routinely been held in outdoor cages for hours after their arrest. The organization says the children had to endure freezing temperatures outside transit facilities. It says this is a long-running practice meant to terrify the detained children. The N-G-O adds that it\'s just one example of the torture and ill-treatment of Palestinian children by Israeli forces. The Palestinian Prisoners Society has also said in a new report that 2-hundred Palestinian children are among five thousand inmates locked up in Israeli jails.

Bomb blast in Dera Ghazi Khan Pakistan on a Procession - 5Feb09 - Urdu. It was a Chehlum Jaloos. A number of momineen, adults, kids and women participated in the procession. The 39-minute clip shows more than a dozen civilians shot dead including two Reuters journalists, Namir Nood-Eldeen and Saeed Chmagh, in Baghdad in 2007. Two young children were also seriously wounded in the incident. Following an investigation demanded by Reuters, the US military said the soldiers acted in accordance with the law of armed conflict and the 'Rules of Engagement'. In the run up to the release of this video, WikiLeaks said it had come under aggressive surveillance by the Pentagon. The video was first made public on the website www.collateralmurder.com.

The secret video, released by the whistleblower website WikiLeaks, shows US air crew hunting civilians in the streets of the Iraqi capital purportedly mistaking them for 'insurgents.' US military service members laughed and cursed at their victims that included Reuters photojournalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, and his driver, Saeed Chmagh, who appear unarmed. The footage shows US forces repeatedly firing on a group of civilians and then on a van that stopped to rescue one of the wounded. The US military says the killings were in line with the law of armed conflict and its own 'rules of engagement.' The video, shot from one of the two striking Apache helicopters, was obtained by Wikileaks despite the US Defense Department's blocking of an earlier attempt by Reuters to get hold of the footage via the Freedom of Information Act.

Israeli forces have stormed a Palestinian home to arrest a 4-year-old child in Jerusalem al-Quds. Muhammad al-Majid\'s father says Israeli forces woke up his little son in the middle of the night. He says, however, that they backed down from carrying out the arrest after seeing the child. Months ago, a two-and a half-year-old boy was about to be arrested in a similar attempt. Human rights organizations are warning that Palestinian children are routinely tortured and habitually threatened with rape by their Israeli captors. According to the independent organization of Defense for Children International, 179 Palestinian minors have been imprisoned and prosecuted in Israeli military courts, since September 30.
