Troops have been deployed in Libya\'s violence-hit capital following deadly weekend clashes sparked by militias. The deployment comes after community leaders and officials urged the withdrawal of all militias from the capital within 72 hours. On Friday, gunmen fired at demonstrators protesting against militias, triggering clashes between rival militants. At least 43 people were killed and hundreds of others wounded in the violence. Meanwhile in another development, the Libyan deputy intelligence chief has been freed by his abductors a day after he was seized near Tripoli airport. Libya has been gripped by lawlessness following the 2011 uprising against the rule of Muammar Ghaddafi. Ever since, myriad militia groups have been carving out their own territories across the vast mostly-desert country.

Libya has declared a two-day state of emergency in the capital, Tripoli after clashes erupted between rival militias on Saturday. The clashes left one person dead and dozens more injured. Thousands of protesters gathered in Tripoli\'s center to mourn those killed in an attack on protesters on Friday. Local authorities have announced a three-day general strike in response to the violence which was sparked by protests against armed groups. Over 40 people were killed and over 450 more injured when militias fired on the protesters. Tripoli officials have also declared a three-day mourning period. The post-revolutionary government has appealed for restraint.

The Iranian Embassy in Lebanon marks the 31st anniversary of the abduction of four Iranian diplomats - Ahmad Motevaselian, Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi, Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam, and Kazem Akhavan. They were abducted on July the 4th, 1982 - amid the Lebanese civil war - by Israeli-affiliated militias. Headed by Samir Gaegae, the militias stopped their car on the way to Beirut at the Al-Barbara checkpoint in Northern Lebanon. The militias were known for their close ties with Israel. When asked about the case of the four men, Gaegae first said they were handed over to Israel, but later claimed they had been killed. Iran\'s ambassador to Lebanon says Tehran has the evidence that suggests they are still being kept captive in Israeli jails. Altaf Ahmad, Press TV, Beirut

They were first trained and then armed.Their salaries are also provided by the U.S government. But these groups are now changing sides. About 23 of them have recently joined the Taliban in western Farah province. They are now fighting back against the foreign troops there with their U.S-given weapons.

Later on we received a tip to move to Hretan area, an area where Syrian army had clashes during the night with hundreds of fighters belong to an armed group call themselves AlMithanna brigade. Upon our arrival to what was an area controlled by armed militias, Syrian army commander explained to us how did they free the area through intensify clashes during the night, assuring that these clashes resulted to killing plenty of armed group members and most of the killed were foreigners.

A Conference for Palestine refugees was held in Gaza titled United for Return to mark the 65th anniversary of the Palestinian catastrophe or Nakba. It brought together leaders of Palestinian factions as well as refugees\' representatives from Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Egypt and the Diaspora. Upon the establishment of the Tel-Aviv regime in 1948, more than 700,000 Palestinians were forced out of historical Palestine because of the threat of being massacred by Zionist militias coupled with the simultaneous destruction of many Palestinian towns and villages.This dispossession is commemorated among Palestinians, as Nakba. As rival clan militias continue to fight for the control of the southern Somali city of Kismayo, the United Nations expresses concern over the humanitarian situation there. Hundreds of families are reportedly fleeing Kismayo as forces loyal to rival warlords who claim the leadership of a new state called Jubbaland clashed in June. The violence left more than fifty people dead and many others seriously injured. Most of the injured were flown to Mogadishu.

A pro-autonomy movement in oil-reach eastern Libya has unilaterally declared the formation of a shadow government. The announcement has drawn reactions from Tripoli. The head of the newly declared government says it aims to improve distribution of resources and undermine central authority claiming it has discriminated against the eastern region. The central government in Tripoli swiftly rejected the declaration. The announcement from the pro-autonomy movement comes months after it declared the eastern half of Libya to be an autonomous state called Barqa. The movement is backed by some militias and local tribes.

The Libyan army goes on a state of alert in the eastern city of Benghazi after nine people including soldiers are killed in clashes between security forces and Salafi militants. The fighting erupted following an army operation against the militants from Ansar al-Sharia group that lasted for several hours. Nearly 50 soldiers and civilians were also injured. The unrest comes after weeks of deadly clashes in the city and in the capital Tripoli. Local militias which were empowered during the NATO war on Libya have now turned against the state. Their refusal to put down arms has sparked public protests and the subsequent killings.
