You’re not willing to abandon Husayn’s (as) mourning ceremony. But from tonight, Zaynab (as) had to prepare herself to lose Husayn (as). Alas for Zaynab’s heart from tonight. What was the philosophy behind Imam Husayn’s (as) head being carried along with Zaynab from Karbala to Kufa and Damascus? Maybe it was for Zaynab to be able to slowly detach herself from Husayn (as). Alas for Zaynab’s heart from tonight. [When they reached Karbala,] the Imam (as) asked, “What’s the name of this land?” They replied, “Karbala.” He said, “I seek refuge in God from sorrow (Karb) and tragedy (bala).” Whenever he talked about Karbala, he would look at Zaynab (as). [It was as if he was saying,] “My Zaynab, this is Karbala. I’m addressing you. We’re going to be separated from each other here. Be ready.” Zaynab (as) would ignore these words and look in a different direction. Aba Abdillah al-Husayn (as) would glance at Zaynab (as), “Did my Zaynab believe this is Karbala? If she had believed it, she would have started wailing. No, she doesn’t believe it. She doesn’t want to accept it.” He would look at his Zaynab caringly. I talked about this story in the last meeting, and I’m talking about it again now. And I’ll always talk about it. Because it took nine days for Husayn (as) to tell Zaynab (as), “This is Karbala. Believe this.” She ignored this until the evening of Tasu’a when Husayn (as) said, “O world! Woe to you.” When Zaynab (as) heard this, she threw herself in front of Husayn (as), screamed and fainted. “My Husayn, don’t talk about leaving.” “My Zaynab, I have tried to tell you many times that this is Karbala! Why didn’t you want to believe this?” “I can’t tolerate this. Don’t talk about leaving!” This means, “I was trying to ignore the fact that we have been in Karbala during these nine days. No matter how much you said this is Karbala, I tried to keep myself busy and didn’t want to accept it.” Imam Husayn (as) said, “My Zaynab! My ancestor (the Prophet), father, brother and mother were all better than I am. They all passed away and you were patient.” She replied, “I was able to be patient because you were there. How can I be separated from you?” May God’s curse be upon the oppressors.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says political solution is the only way to put an end to violence in Syria. Rouhani also said the international community has reached the conclusion that military intervention is not a solution to the Syrian crisis, and THAT is a good sign. He made the remarks during a meeting with the visiting UN-Arab League Special Envoy for Syria. Lakhdar Brahimi for his part said that he always defends Iran\'s participation in the Geneva 2 talks. The UN-Arab League Special Envoy for Syria said yesterday that Iran\'s participation in the Geneva talks is QUOTE natural, necessary, and fruitful. Brahimi\'s visit to Tehran is part of his Middle East tour to lobby support for the meeting. The Geneva talks has been slated for November 23rd and 24th, to find a political solution to the Syrian conflict.

On June 25 a number of important players will meet in Dakar to discuss issues related to the International Criminal Court. Senegal is one of many African states that were early supporters of the court as an institution to make a decisive push in the fight against impunity. Participants at the discussion in include high-level representatives from a number of French-speaking African countries. The ICC has received a lot of international attention in recent years due to a number of controversial cases being brought to its jurisdiction. The fact that the cases have all been African has brought the credibility of the court into question, but there is no denying that it is now becoming a major force in Africa\'s desire to resolve issues of human rights abuses. Another important factor is that a number of States have given practical votes of confidence to the court, in the form of referrals concerning crimes within their own territories - notably Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Mali and Comoros. The states that have made these referrals have demonstrated confidence that the ICC will be able to investigate crimes when the states themselves are not in a position to do so.

Iraqi prime minister Nuri al-Maliki warns that his country is facing QUOTE \"a war of genocide\" which is targeting all of its components. Maliki blamed al-Qaeda for a wave of unrest that has gripped Iraq for the past months. He said attacks by the terrorist group has killed Iraqi citizens and destroyed their houses. However, he warned, that a front formed of different components will confront the terrorists. Comments by the Iraqi prime minister came as over four dozen people were killed in two days of attacks across the country. The attacks were the latest in violence that has surged in Iraq over the past year. The UN says the unrest has left more than five-thousand people dead between January and September alone.

[24 May 2012] What is view of Islam on building Christian churches in Muslim lands - English A recent fatwa issued by a Wahhabi mufti calls for destruction of all churches in the Arabian Peninsula. He issued the fatwa in late March 2012 in response to a Kuwaiti lawmaker who asked if Kuwait could ban church construction in Kuwait. The fatwa paves the way for adding an article to the new Kuwaiti constitution that forbids building of new churches. Ahl al-Bait assembly condemns the fatwa saying that it is contrary to both Shia and Sunni traditions, and has no precedence in Islamic jurisprudential schools. The assembly also slams the "deadly silence" of Muslim scholars in the face of such fatwa that distort the image of Islam. It also criticizes international human right organizations as well as Western and Christian governments for their support of Saudi regime and Wahhabi doctrine. The chairman of a group of European Catholic Bishops slams the Saudi Mufti by saying that his fatwa "shows no respect for the religious freedom and free co-existence of religions". [22 June 2012] Egypt What is happening And what should happen Comment - English Thousands of angry Egyptians have camped out in the historic square since Wednesday, calling on the military council to quit power immediately as the electoral authorities delayed the announcement of the final results of the presidential run-off on Thursday as scheduled. Egypt's election committee said on Wednesday they want to look into all complaints from the two candidates before making an announcement. The protesters say the move could be a sign that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) is trying to declare former premier Ahmed Shafiq the winner. Egyptians cast their ballots in a two-day presidential runoff election on June 16 and 17, which pitted the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, Mohammed Morsi, against Shafiq. On June 18, a member of the Egyptian Electoral Committee confirmed that Morsi is in the lead in the country's run-off presidential election. Early on the day, the Brotherhood had declared Morsi's victory over Shafiq in the voting. Officials from the group had said that Morsi has won 52.5 percent of the counted ballots.

Egyptians cast their ballots in a two-day presidential runoff election on June 16 and 17, which pitted the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, Mohammed Morsi, against Shafiq. On June 18, a member of the Egyptian Electoral Committee confirmed that Morsi is in the lead in the country's run-off presidential election. Early on the day, the Brotherhood had declared Morsi's victory over Shafiq in the voting. Officials from the group had said that Morsi has won 52.5 percent of the counted ballots.
