The Leukemia patients\' lives in the impoverished Gaza Strip remain in danger as they have not received medications for over 11 months. The ministry of Health expects that the patients are to suffer severe complications if they don\'t get their medications promptly.

In a statement on Sunday, Iran called for restraint and an immediate halt of the large-scale Israeli bombardment of Gaza. Israel attacked the impoverished strip on Saturday, leaving 800 people in a critical state. The Saturday attacks are widely believed to be one of the worst in the 60-year history of the Israeli occupation. "The international community is duty bound to defend Gaza civilians in the face of Israel's genocide and crimes against humanity," the Foreign Ministry statement reads according to press tv. "Tel Aviv's bombardment of the Gaza Strip is yet another brazen example of Israel's terrorist mindset and its gross violation of human rights," it adds. The statement condemns the barrage of Israeli attacks on civilian non-military targets as being in stark defiance of the Geneva Convention and UN resolutions. Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states that no protected person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed, hence collective punishment and all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited. The Saturday onslaught came after a six-month truce between Israel and the democratically-elected Palestinian government of Hamas expired on December 19 - and after repeated violations by Tel Aviv. The Arab world reacted in shock to the Israeli incursion into Gaza and stepped up calls for retaliation against Israel. "Today everybody has to stand by the side of the Palestinian people and stop this blind military action," said Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Russia and France have also decried the large-scale operations, demanding that Israel immediately halt its attacks on the Gaza Strip. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, however, snubbed international appeals for an end to the attacks and asserted that operations against Gaza will go on for "as long as necessary". "There is a time for cease-fires and a time to fight, and now is the time to fight," said Barak, adding that the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and security forces have been masterminding the Gaza invasion "for months". In a televised speech on Sunday, Barak confirmed that Tel Aviv may even send ground troops into Gaza to help in carrying out fresh attacks on the coastal strip. The UN Security Council held emergency consultations Saturday night and early Sunday to outline a resolution, by which Israel would be obliged to halt its military operations "without delay".

Medics tell Press TV they have found traces of depleted uranium in some Gazan residents wounded in Israel's ground offensive into the strip. Norwegian medics told Press TV correspondent Akram al-Sattari that some of the victims who have been wounded since Israel began its attacks on the Gaza Strip on December 27 have traces of depleted uranium in their bodies. The report comes after Israeli tanks and troops swept across the border into Gaza on Saturday night, opening a ground operation after eight days of intensive attacks by Israeli air and naval forces on the impoverished region. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned on Sunday that the wide-ranging ground offensive in the Gaza Strip would be "full of surprises." A ground offensive in the densely-populated Gaza is expected to drastically increase the death toll of the civilian population. The latest assaults bring the number of Palestinians killed to over 488 with 2790 others wounded. The UN says that about 25 percent of the casualties were civilian deaths - including at least 34 children. According to Israeli army officials, at least 30 of its soldiers have been wounded since the start of the ground campaign. Amid global condemnation of the ongoing violence in the region, the UN Security Council failed to agree on a united approach to resolve the crisis. "Once again, the world is watching in dismay the dysfunctionality of the Security Council," UN General Assembly chief Miguel d'Escoto said Sunday. According to diplomatic sources, the US blocked a Security Council resolution, with US Deputy Ambassador Alejandro Wolff arguing that an official statement that criticizes both Israel and Hamas would not be helpful. The White House has so far declined to comment on whether an Israeli ground incursion into Gaza is a justified measure.

Unconventional weapons used against Gazans Doctor Mads Gilbert is a member of a Norwegian triage medical team present in the besieged Gaza Strip. The team has exposed that Israel has used depleted uranium weapons in its war on the impoverished territory which is home to 1.5 million Palestinians. He described the conditions inside Gaza in an exclusive Press TV interview. Press TV: What can you tell about the uranium findings? Dr. Mads Gilbert:The findings about the uranium I cannot tell you much about, but I can tell you that we have clear evidence that the Israelis are using a new type of very high explosive weapons which are called Dense Inert Metal Explosive (DIME) and are made out of a tungsten alloy. These weapons have an enormous power to explode. The power of the explosion dissipates very quickly and the strength does not travel long, maybe 10 meters, but those humans who are hit by this explosion, this pressure wave are cut in pieces. This was first used in Lebanon in 2006, it was used here in Gaza in 2006 and the injuries that we see in Shifa [Hospital] now, many many of them I suspect and we all suspect are the effect of DIME weapons used by the Israelis. On the long term, these weapons will have a cancer effect on those who survive. They will develop cancer we suspect. There has been very little research on this but some research has been among other places in the United States, which show that these weapons have a high tendency to develop cancer. So they kill and those who survive risk having cancer. Press TV: And what do you have to say about this? Dr. Mads Gilbert:All that is happening in Gaza here now is against international law, it is against humanity and I think it is against what it means to be a decent person. You don't treat other people like this. Even if you disagree with him… maybe even if you fight with them, you don't treat civilians, children and women like this. And I have an appeal to the Israeli doctors and nurses. They are my colleagues. We belong to the same international community, the medical community. I wish that the good doctors and nurses in Israel tell their government to stop these atrocities. We cannot continue with this. We may differ in opinions, but you cannot treat the civilian Palestinian population in Gaza in this way. Today, they were bombing in Gaza City; we received 150 wounded and more than 50 killed. Press TV: Only at Shifa?! Dr. Mads Gilbert:Yes, here in Shifa. I treated a ten-year-old boy. He had his whole chest filled with fragments from the bomb. On his lap was another person's leg that had been cut off. We resuscitated him and did everything we could do to save his life but he died between our hands. This is such a terrible experience and behind the numbers that you report all the time, there are human beings, families, women, grandmothers, children. That is in fact the reality in this situation. Those who are paying the price for the Israeli bombardments now are the common people, the Palestinian people. Half of the population in Palestine are below 15 years and 80 percent of the people in Gaza live below the level of poverty defined by the UN. Now they don't have food, they don't have electricity. It's cold they don't have warmth and in addition to that, they are killed. This must be stopped. Press TV How many people did you see that are effected by this weapon? Dr. Mads Gilbert: Almost all of the patients we have received have these sever amputations. They seem to have been affected by this kind of weapon. Of course, we have many fragment injuries and burns but those who have got their limbs cut off, constitutes quite a large proportion. You know we have a lot to do. Palestinian doctors, nurses and paramedics do an incredibly heroic job to save their people. Doctor Eric and I are just a small drip in the ocean, but we learn from them. Unfortunately, we don't have the time to do research, we have to save lives, but this question should be researched by the international community.

Many aspects of life in Gaza have suffered under the Israeli blockade and Palestinian culture is just one of them. But amid the trauma of withstanding worsening living conditions, Palestinians from the impoverished territory have managed to produce the first feature film to come out of Gaza in almost a decade.

To defy Israel's four-year blockade of the impoverished Palestinian enclave, a Libyan aid ship departs for the Egyptian port of El-Arish en route to Gaza. The cargo ship Amalthea, which left the Greek port of Lavrio, southeast of Athens, late Saturday, is carrying 2,000 tons of food and medical supplies, including sacks of rice, sugar, corn oil and olive paste, intended for suffering Gazans. "We hope that the Israeli authorities would not ban the ship from entering the port of Gaza," said Youssef Sawani, Executive Director of the Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation. The foundation is chaired by the son of Libyan Leader, Muammar Gaddafi. "I think the Israelis need to understand that we are not provoking any kind of action, we are not in military action, we are a peaceful organization, a humanitarian organization," he said. Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas said he has discussed the ship's planned trip with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Friday. The ship has nine crew members — six Libyans, a Moroccan, a Nigerian and an Algerian. This latest attempt comes after Israeli commandos attacked the Freedom Flotilla aid convoy on May 31 in international waters, killing 9 Turkish activists. The Israeli assault sparked a worldwide condemnation and a row between Ankara and Tel Aviv. Turkey's Prime Minister demanded that Israel apologize for the deadly attack on the Turkish-owned ship Mavi Marmara, offer compensation to the victims, agree to an international investigation and end the blockade of Gaza. It also recalled its ambassador from Tel Aviv and cancelled military exercises with Israel. It has also twice denied Israel the use of its airspace. Israel has refused to apologize, claiming its commandos only used force to defend themselves after being ambushed.

Palestinian killed in Israeli air attack At least one Palestinian has been killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip as the acting Palestinian Authority chief and the Israeli prime minister prepare to hold their third direct meeting. Three others were also wounded in the attack which was carried out against a Palestinian "survival tunnel" in Rafah along the Gaza-Egypt border on Wednesday. The tunnels, which link the south of the impoverished enclave to Egypt, have been serving as conduits for vital supplies to the besieged Gaza Strip since June 2007, when Israel imposed a crippling blockade on the costal sliver. The perilous tunnels have been frequently attacked by Israeli and Egyptian security forces. The Israeli army has not commented on the air attack yet. The attack coincided with the third round of meetings between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and acting Palestinian chief Mahmoud Abbas to end the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Several hours later, Hassan tells us the boat is being surrounded. As we wrap up the conversation just 5 minutes later, the situation intensifies. That's the last we heard from Hassan. Israel raided the flotilla, and arrested those on board. They are now in Israeli jail. We spoke to Hassan's father Haq for the latest he's heard from his son. Hassan was also aboard the Mavi Marmara that was attacked by the Israeli Military, leaving nine people dead. He was arrested and warned never to return. This time he was on-board with former press TV journalist Jihan Hafiz who was reporting for U-S based democracy now and other journalists too. Gazan journalist and activist Sameh Habeeb says the Israeli action is all a part of the siege strategy. Israel had called the freedom wave a provocation and a threat to its national security. We contacted the foreign office who told us that a consular officer will be visiting Hassan again Sunday morning, that all detainees were moved quickly through the port and immigration to a detention center and that Hassan had called his arrest “extremely objectionable in principle”. They say it is very likely that Hassan will be deported from Israel soon. But for now he remains a journalist in an Israeli prison for no other reason than doing his job. And the status of those on board with him remains unclear.

Tens of thousands of anti- government protesters have taken to the streets across the country on a day dubbed loyalty to the blood of martyrs. Protesters gathered in the change square of Sana'a and chanted anti-government slogans, denouncing the US -Saudi brokered deal as it gives Ali Abdullah Saleh immunity from prosecution. They condemned the killing of peaceful march of life calling for the expulsion of US Ambassador to Yemen over his latest remarks. Earlier, Dirald Firstien stated that if two thousands protesters staged a march toward the WHIT house, they would be deterred from reaching it. This comes as strikes are spreading through the capital Sana'a. Government employees staged rallies demanding for reforms and the firing of senior corrupted managers. While, the Military commission plans to continue lifting barricades to the north of capital Sana'a, clashes erupted once again between republican guards and tribal armed men loyal to dissident tribal leader of Hashied Federation, Sadiq Al-Ahmar. During its Tuesday's session, the parliament gave the trust to the newly unity government. Political analysts predict that protests would continue with no end in sight until people's demands are met. The impoverished country has been hit by daily anti-government protests since late January demanding an end to corruption and unemployment. As violent clashes have erupted once again in Al-Hassabah region, threatening the power transfer brokered deal, the protesters call for the continuation of their revolution in loyalty to the blood of martyrs, vowing to prosecute who they describe as killers and corrupted people.

People here are angry over what they say the silence of the international community for not taking any action to put pressure on Israel to end its military attacks. Press TV met Abu Shaban family who escaped unharmed after their house was targeted. Israel has stepped up its assaults on Gaza over the recent days. The attacks have claimed over a dozen lives in Gaza since Monday. A number of Gazans, including at least one child, have been killed and many others injured in the latest Israeli attack.International activists say the world has to condemn Israel's military attacks on innocent Palestinians in Gaza and take decisive measures to end the suffering of Gaza's 1.7 million.Israel frequently carries out air raids and conducts ground incursions in Gaza. The blockaded coastal enclave has been cut of from the outside world as Israel controls Gaza's border crossings, airspace and territorial waters, turning the impoverished territory into the world's largest open air prison.

The temporary reopening of the Rafah crossing is not enough to meet the needs of the Gaza Strip\'s one-point-seven-million-strong population. Thousands of Gazans are currently stranded in the impoverished coastal enclave. Press TV\'s Ashraf Shannon reports from Gaza.

It has been over five weeks since Gaza\\\'s power plant stopped working. This has seriously affected all aspects of life in the tiny and impoverished coastal strip in many ways including water supply, sewage treatment and medical care. Amjad Shawa the director of Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) made an urgent appeal to the international community to help alleviate the suffering in the blockaded coastal territory.

Israeli warplanes have bombarded the Gaza Strip, killing at least two Palestinian and wounding several others. Eyewitnesses say Israeli warplanes targeted the southern city of Khan Yunis. Two more strikes were reported in the east of the Gaza city and another in the center of the impoverished enclave. The attacks come shortly after a Palestinian sniper shot dead an Israeli along a border fence in the north of the coastal enclave. The incident seemed to be in retaliation for the recent killing of Palestinians in Gaza by Israeli forces. The Israeli military shot and wounded a Palestinian in northern Gaza on Monday. Another Palestinian was wounded by Israeli troops on Friday in southern Gaza, a day after a young Palestinian was killed and four others injured by Israeli fire.

People in the Gaza Strip are once again struggling to cope with electricity shortages during the cold winter season. This, due to Israel\\\'s refusal to allow fuel into the impoverished Palestinian territory.

Tribesmen have blown up a major oil pipeline in southern Yemen. Officials say the flow of crude has been halted due to the explosion in Ash-Shihr town of Hadramawt province. This is the second such attack in the past three days. On Thursday, the country\\\'s main oil pipeline was bombed in the central province of Ma\\\'arib. Over the past two years, oil and gas pipelines in Yemen have come under repeated attacks, causing fuel shortages and slashing export earnings in the impoverished country. Yemen depends on oil exports for some 70 percent of government spending.

The fuel crisis in the besieged Gaza Strip has forced the residents of the coastal enclave to turn to the Sun to meet their energy demands. Authorities of this crisis-hit hospital in Gaza have decided to install solar panels to get the most out of the sunlight. They say loss of power for even a minute could spell disaster for the patients there. Gazan officials hope the solar power could play a bigger role in providing energy for the Palestinians. But the solar panels are a bit costly and not everybody in the impoverished enclave can afford using them. Gaza has been under a crippling Israeli blockade for several years now. This has been exacerbated by the closure of the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt.
