The Summer break passed swiftly, and they were busy entertaining relatives from the UK in August. The new term in September threw them into the commemorations of Muharram. And all the while, #HowzaLife has been hectic, getting the newcomer’s paperwork done!

A very special episode indeed! Shaykh Muzaffer Hyder and Syeda Fatima Ali along with some of the Islamic Pulse team members, their families, and some of the Students of Qom and their friends, were given the honor of visiting the Shrine of Imam Khomeini and the “Garden of Zahra” (Behesht-e-Zahra) in Tehran: the experience was uplifting, inspiring and poignant. “The Garden of Zahra” is one of the biggest military graveyards in the entire world, where some 200,000 shohada (martyrs) from the Sacred Defense era are laid to rest. Some of these soldiers - like Shaheed Beheshti, Shaheed Mustafa Chamran, Shaheed Ahmad Ali Nayari and Shaheed Ibrahim Hadi - who were killed in the way of establishing the Islamic Revolution, have such fascinating stories in their lives that any one of these brilliant gems is enough to turn a person’s heart. After numerous requests from our fans, Howza Life is back. Alhamdulilla, the studious couple are well and have been busy entertaining their guests, visiting Mashhad and sorting out paper work and vaccinations for their daughter… as well as their latest venture which has kept them preoccupied (they’ll show you about that in the next episode inshallah!), but rest assured, they’re back!

Muzaffer and Syeda move out of student accommodation and into their new house in the centre of the Holy City of Qom. Being Howza students and living in Iran comes with its own trials, tribulations and blessings!

Throughout the Holy Month of Ramadhan the baby has learned to grasp objects, walk and throw. Naturally, this results in Muzaffer’s phone going missing. Raising a child in a foreign country can be hectic to say the least. In this episode of Howza Life, the couple take some time off to visit Mashhad: a little piece of heaven on earth.

The “Azemoon” is the major exam Howza students will have to face at the end of their 5-6 year tenure if they wish to continue their studies at the Howza of Qom. The examination consists of questions that could be about any of the subject matter that has been studied so far - including Fiqh, Usool Fiqh, Sarf, Nahw, Aqa’id, Uloom Quran, and Tafseer. It is a difficult exam which must be passed for any student who wishes to study their Masters at Al-Mustafa International. What have the Howza couple been up to you ask? Well, this and that. Shaykh Muzaffer’s mum and brother had come from the UK for a Ziyarah trip, and so - naturally - Sister Syeda was engrossed in entertaining the guests while her significant other was out working, doing paper work etc. They took a lovely trip to Mashhad and stayed in Qom throughout Muharram.
