Yemen's Houthi fighters have accused Saudi Arabia of helping the Yemeni army in its deadly offensive against them in the north-western province of Saada. Zaidi Shia fighters, known as Houthis, issued a statement on Friday saying that at least two Saudi warplanes have bombed their positions in the al-Malahid district. The fighters' statement has been dismissed by the Yemeni army as a baseless allegation. Fighting between Yemeni troops backed by fighter aircraft and Shia fighters has killed dozens, mostly fighters, since the government launched a wide offensive against Shia tribes earlier in the month. The Shia fighters have been engaged in on and off fighting with Yemen's army since 2004. Press TV correspondent in Yemen, Akram Al-Hindi, says the military's campaign against Houthi fighters is expected to intensify in the coming days -- despite the growing civilian death toll. "We have heard that there was a short truce between the government and the Houthi fighters but shortly after that the fighting erupted again," Al-Hindi said. "The treaty which was signed based on Qatar agreement and Doha agreement has been declared dead from the Yemeni government side," he added. According to the correspondent, the Houthi fighters claim that the government is intensifying its military offences and this calls for the end of the truce between the two sides. "This shows that the violence will continue," Al-Hindi concluded. The Houthis say they are defending themselves against religious oppression. The government says it is fighting an armed insurgency seeking to reinstate imamate rule, which ended in a 1962 coup. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, an estimated 119,000 people from the northwest Yemeni town of Saada are currently displaced.

Yemen\'s interior ministry says at least five people have been killed in the latest US drone strikes hitting the country\'s south. Yemeni officials say the drone strikes targeted suspected al-Qaeda militants in Abyan province on Thursday. The US has carried out dozens of such strikes in the Arab nation over the past year, killing dozens of people. Washington claims the attacks target militants, but evidence on the ground shows many of the victims have been civilians. Yemenis have staged numerous protests to condemn the deadly drone strikes.

Nearly a dozen people have been killed and many more injured in a fresh attack in Pakistan\'s port city of Karachi. Officials say an explosive-laden car hit a police bus transporting over 50 personnel. All of the victims are policemen. No group has claimed responsibility for the early morning attack. Pakistan has been hit by a wave of bombings and shootings in recent months. And Karachi has been one of the major targets with insurgent groups often trying to create ethnic violence in the city. Just days ago, several people were killed after a group of gunmen threw grenades and opened fire at a religious gathering there.

One diverted the attention and the other one did the nice job. A shoe was thrown at Israeli Ambassador to Sweden Mr. Benny Dagan when He was giving a speech at Stockholm University today. The shoe hit its target. It was followed by two books and a note pad all hitting the severely embarrassed ambassador. The two protesters a young woman and a young man shouted Murderers And Intifada while pelting Dagan with the objects. They are currently under arrest suspected of assault and public disturbance.

SOHO (NASA-ESA Solar & Heliospheric Observatory) watched as a fairly bright comet dove towards the Sun in a white streak and was not seen again after its close encounter (May 10-11, 2011). The comet, probably part of the Kreutz family of comets, was discovered by amateur astronomer Sergey Shurpakov. In this coronagraph the Sun (represented by a white circle) is blocked by the red occulting disk so that the faint structures in the Sun's corona can be discerned. Interestingly, a coronal mass ejection blasted out to the right just as the comet is approaching the Sun. Scientists, however, have yet to find a convincing physical connection between sun-grazing comets and coronal mass ejections. In fact, analysis of this CME using images from the Solar Dynamics Observatory shows that the CME erupted before the comet came close enough to the solar surface to interact with strong magnetic fields

Video footage has surfaced online showing radical Salafist Sheikh Ahmad al-Aseer beating up a Lebanese abductee with his rifle. The hardline cleric, whose extremist group of Salafists had recently kidnapped Mohammad Abu Zahr in the Abra region of the city of Sidon in southern Lebanon, is shown with some of his companions hitting the man. Aseer had previously denied having attacked Abu Zahr. The radical Sheikh is on the run from the Lebanese military after his armed group launched a deadly attack on an army post last month, leading to the death of 20 soldiers and injuring a number of others in the ensuing confrontations. As dialog continues between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, a group of US senators is threatening to push for more anti-Iran sanctions. Fourteen Democratic and Republican lawmakers have pledged to work together on legislation aimed at imposing new sanctions on Iran over the coming weeks. The bipartisan group of lawmakers includes Democrats Robert Menendez and Republican Bob Corker. The lawmakers say they want to prevent Iran from acquiring the capability to develop a nuclear weapon. The US has passed several rounds of illegal sanctions against the country, hitting the Iranian public hard. Tehran says its nuclear energy program is for power generation and producing medical radio isotopes.

In the US, a camera crew from an Atlanta television station has filmed an incident that shows why Icy roads require their own kind of driving skills! The footage shows a vehicle sliding down a hill before hitting the side of the road. Moments later a passer-by in hi-visibility jacket comes to help the driver but only before another car spins out of control and slams into the stationary car. But that\'s not all. After bystanders call an ambulance for the drivers, a third car skids across the same part of the icy road and comes to an abrupt stop near the first two. The incident follows a snow storm that had nearly shut down Atlanta on Wednesday.

No end in sight to the deadly violence in the war-torn Iraq. Several people have been killed and many more injured in separate attacks in the capital Baghdad. Two simultaneous bomb blasts in Baghdad left five people dead and fifteen others injured. Another explosion in the city\'s Kenani Market left scores of casualties. The attacks are the latest in a chain of deadly violent incidents hitting Iraq over the last months. The Iraqi government blames al-Qaeda-linked groups for the deadly unrest. Official figures show more than a thousand people lost their lives in violent attacks across Iraq last month alone.
