Israeli forces handed 10 Palestinian families demolition orders this week in the village of Barta\'a al-Sharqiyeh in Jenin. The orders handed to the villagers have now totaled 50, with each family given one months notice to appeal before their homes, shops and animal barracks are bulldozed. Press TV attempted to reach the village but were prevented at an Israeli checkpoint erected outside the village. The guards claimed that we would need special permission as we were entering Israel, though legally the land is within the 1967 green line.

Israeli forces have handed 12 demolition orders to Palestinian residents in Hebron Al Khalil, which includes 6 houses and 6 water wells. The orders were handed to residents of the village of Sa\\\'ir in the South Hebron Hills. The orders will further confiscate millions of square meters of land from the Palestinians, in order for the Israelis to expand illegal settlements in the area. The village has been closed under military orders and they have given the residents one month to file a complaint before carrying out the demolitions. Human rights groups say that the demolition orders is part of a strategy by Tel Aviv to annex the South Hebron hills to Israel and a greater strategy to maintain military control over the Jordan Valley, the Negev and the South Hebron Hills. A new injunction signed on the 25th December by the head of the Israeli military\\\'s Central Command, which bans all Palestinians from appealing demolition orders to the Israeli military courts. Instead they can only take them to the Israeli high court, which is more costly and time consuming for the residents. They are further banned from using Palestinian lawyers in the Israeli high court. The residents of So\\\'ir already live in cramped conditions in their village as they have been prohibited by the Israeli authorities to build new houses. They explained that if the demolition orders are carried out, they will be left homeless with nowhere to go. They will now take the case to the high court.

In the latest round of protests, regime forces used tear gas to disperse protesters in Abu Saiba, west of the capital Manama. Earlier on Friday, a mass rally was held to condemn a controversial ruling by a Bahraini court which disbanded a Shia Muslim clerical body. The verdict against the Islamic Scholars Council came in a lawsuit filed by Bahrain\'s Justice Ministry accusing the organization of promoting sectarianism. The move has been criticized by the opposition and human rights groups, who say it is part of the regime\'s efforts to silence the voice of dissent. Since 2011, anti-regime demonstrations have been held almost every day in Bahrain, in defiance of the deadly crackdown.

The 29th International Holy Quran Competitions started at Tehran\\\'s Milad Tower International Convention Center on Sunday. The jury of the contest has 14 members, 5 of whom are Iranian and the rest are from other countries. A Quran memorizer from Isfahan province and a Quran reciter from Khuzestan province will represent Iran in the memorization and recitation sections of the international event. Iranians win first prizes at 29th International Quran Competition An Iranian Quran reciter and a memorizer won the first prizes at the 29th International Quran Competition, the organizers announced in Tehran on Friday. Qasem Moqaddami received the first prize in the recitation category and Hossein Motamedi won the first prize in the memorization category, Persian news agencies reported on Saturday. They were selected from among over 50 reciters and 40 memorizers competing from about 70 countries. Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini, and a number of Iranian officials attended an award presentation ceremony held at Tehran�s Milad Tower on Friday. The second prize in the recitation category was handed to Ezzat Sayyid Rashid from Egypt and the third prize went to Mahmood Salman Ali from Bahrain. Reciter Sabruddin Abdulrahman from Indonesia was selected as the fourth winner and the fifth was Najam ul Hassan from Bangladesh. In the memorization category, the second prize was given to Ainul Arefin Rafiqul Islam from Bangladesh, while Abdullah Omar from Libya got the third prize. The fourth and fifth awards were handed to Mahdi Khair Al-Balil from Sudan, and Abdul Malik Muhammad Rahim from Afghanistan. A jury panel of 14 selected from Egypt, Malaysia, Algeria, Indonesia, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Lebanon and Iran judged the event. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons says Syria has submitted a detailed plan to destroy its chemical arsenal on time. The OPCW said in a statement that Damascus has handed over its formal initial declaration covering its chemical weapons program. The declaration includes a general plan of destruction to be considered by the OPCW Executive Council. Damascus was required to submit the destruction plan under a US-Russian deal agreed last month. Syria has already handed over an inventory of its chemical weapons and international inspectors are probing its facilities. The team has until November 1 to inspect the chemical weapons arsenals declared by Damascus and supervise the destruction of the related facilities.

The videotape smuggled out of the country by Bassam Nabulsi, a businessman from Houston, Texas, depicts Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the UAE Crown Prince's brother, savagely torturing a man. The victim was beaten with wooden planks with nails protruding from them and then the prince poured salt on his bleeding wounds. The video also shows the prince setting fire to parts of the victim's body, giving him electric shocks with a cattle prod, ramming desert sand into his mouth, and firing bullets around him with an automatic rifle. The gruesome footage released by ABC News also shows Sheikh Issa driving over the victim repeatedly with his luxury Mercedes SUV. The sound of breaking bones is clearly audible in this scene. On the video, the victim identified as Afghan grain dealer Mohammed Shah Poor, screams and asks for mercy but the UAE prince sadistically orders the cameraman to come closer to get a better record of the man's suffering. A UAE police officer in uniform can also be seen helping Issa and his men torturing the Afghan man. The Sheikh accused Shah Poor "of short changing on a grain delivery to his royal ranch on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi". The UAE Interior Ministry has admitted that Sheikh Issa had been involved in the torture but claimed that "The incidents depicted in the video tapes were not part of a pattern of behavior." The government also insisted that "all rules, policies and procedures were followed correctly by the Police Department." Sheikh Issa is one of UAE's 22 “Royal Sheikhs” and a son of the country's one and only president, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who died in 2004. Nablusi, who smuggled the 45-minute tape out of the Arab country, says he too was tortured by the UAE police to force him to hand over the tape to them. He is now filing a lawsuit against the Sheikh in a US federal court in Houston. The video was allegedly recorded by Nablusi's brother because the Sheikh took pleasure in watching torture scenes later. Nabulsi who was Sheikh Issa's former business partner, was allegedly arrested and charged by UAE police over narcotics trafficking after he refused to turn over the video. After spending time in a UAE prison, Nablusi was finally deported from the country and his passport was stamped with "Not Allowed to Return to the UAE." The businessman says the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi was aware of the torture tapes but did nothing and only advised him to leave the country. UAE is one of the closest allies of the US in the Middle East and the US Navy operates out of a major base near Dubai. In line with foreign media attempts to disrupt post-election stability in Iran, CNN has broadcast a false report which contradicts footage obtained by Press TV. CNN broadcast an interview with a so-called anonymous witness of Wednesday's protest in Tehran's Baharestan Square, with the aim of depicting Iranian security forces as villains. Footage obtained by Press TV reporters display some 200 protesters 'illegally' gathering in front of Iran's parliament and at a nearby subway station on Wednesday, to protest the result of the June 12th election. The CNN's report, however, contains a call from an alleged female witness in Tehran who supposedly describes the situation as the 'massacre' of protesters by the police in Baharestan Square. The following is an excerpt from CNN newscaster's conversation with the alleged witness: CNN: You tell us what you saw today when you tried to go to Baharestan Square? Witness: Police stopped everyone at Sa'di. They emptied the buses that were taking people there and let the private cars go on. All of a sudden 500 people with clubs and woods came out of Hedayat Mosque and poured into the streets. They started beating everyone and throwing them off Sa'di Bridge. This was a massacre. CNN: We are not only getting this report from you. We got a report from another source in Tehran describing the situation today being terrible, saying people were being shot like animals; they beat people like animals. Are you safe right now? Witness: Yes, exactly, exactly. This is what was happening. They beat people so bad. However, Press TV, which is based in Tehran and was present at the scene, did not find even traces of the false and unfounded report. It remains unclear, whether CNN -- which has resorted to 'unreliable' sources like social network websites in its coverage of Iran -- was duped by the 'anonymous' caller or was simply faking the phone call in line with the Western agenda of destabilizing Iran. Iranian officials have condemned foreign media outlets including Britain's state-run BBC over dramatizing the situation in the country by provoking the post-election violence in Iran. Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hassan Qashqavi on Sunday pinned the blame for the recent post-election turmoil across the country on US and British media outlets. Post-election unrests were sparked after the Interior Ministry declared Ahmadinejad as the president of the country for yet another four-year term by almost two-thirds of the vote. People have staged rallies across the country to protest the results of the election. Some of the demonstrations have turned violent.

Iranian academic Shahram Amiri, who was abducted by the US last year, has been escorted by American forces to Iran's interest section in Washington. IRIB reported on Tuesday that Amiri took refuge in Iran's interest section in Washington, urging an "immediate return" to Iran. The Pakistani Embassy in Washington preserves Iran's interests in the United States, since the two countries have no diplomatic relations. In collaboration with Saudi forces, US security forces kidnapped Amiri while he was on a pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia in June 2009 and took him to America. Since then, two videos and one audio message featuring him have emerged. In the first video, Amiri said that he was abducted "in a joint operation by terror and kidnap teams from the US intelligence service, CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) and Saudi Arabia's Istikhbarat" from Medina. In the second video, he contradicted his earlier statements, saying that he was in the US of his own free will to further his education, dismissing all rumors about his defection. However, in the latest audio message obtained by Iran's intelligence sources, Amiri insists that he was offered $10 million to appear on CNN and announce that he had willingly defected to the US. Holding the US accountable for Amiri's abduction, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the Swiss charge d'affaires, whose embassy represents US interests in Iran, earlier this month and handed over new documents related to the abduction of the Iranian national by the CIA. Analysts say US intelligence officials decided to free Amiri after they failed to advance their propaganda campaign against Iran's nuclear program via fabricating interviews with the Iranian national.

A young Bahraini pro-democracy poetess just released from jail and placed under house arrest says she was mentally and physically tortured by male and female officers while in jail. “They beat me [for] nine days, morning and afternoon and at night… they beat me a lot, a lot, a lot. More than one person beat me at the same time, man and woman,” said Ayat al-Qurmezi in an exclusive phone interview with Press TV on Friday. Recounting her bitter experience while jailed by the Saudi-backed Bahraini regime, Qurmezi, hailed as 'freedom poet,' told Press TV that her interrogator and prison guards did not allow her to use a bathroom and used very offensive and derogatory language against herself and her parents. She confirmed that her jailers also threatened to kill her and to hurt her family, adding that she was forced to make confessions, as the only way for “the king to forgive me” and to be saved from the beatings, verbal abuse and other forms of torture. Qurmezi, however, stated that despite repeated threats by Bahraini authorities that she would be returned to jail if she speaks to any media outlets, she was not afraid and would continue to speak the words of the Bahraini people. Al-Qurmezi was arrested on March 30 for reciting anti-government poetry in the capital of Manama's Pearl Square. She was then charged with incitement and insulting members of the royal family and handed a one-year jail term. On Thursday, the 20-year-old said she had faced house arrest in exchange for freedom, but vowed to continue her freedom-seeking campaign. “And I won't be afraid because of a paper I signed,” Qurmezi said, referring to a pledge she had signed not to violate the terms of her arrest, join protests and speak to the media. Further, her family says she was forced by her jailors to clean filthy lavatories with her bare hands. In a popular uprising, tens of thousands of Bahraini protesters have been holding peaceful anti-regime rallies throughout the country since February, demanding an end to the rule of the Al Khalifa family. The royals have governed the oil-rich Persian Gulf island for over 40 years with major backing from the United States, Britain and the neighboring Saudi Arabia. Scores of people have been killed and many more arrested and tortured in prisons as part of the clampdown in the country -- a longtime US ally and home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Iran believes that the Lebanese Militia handed over the four diplomats to the Israeli Army but Israel claims that it was not aware of the kidnapping and they were killed by the Lebanese Militia a while after detention. This documentary follows Sayyed Raaed Mousavi, the son of one of the four kidnapped Iranian diplomats as he strives to obtain some clarity on the fate of his father and the other three Iranian diplomats. Manama, with the direct backing of Saudi Arabia, has cracked down on the protests with all possible means.
