An Iraqi group says it will launch attacks inside Saudi Arabia if Riyadh continues to promote sectarian violence in the region.
The group, which calls itself the Mukhtar Army, has also claimed responsibility for a mortar attack which targeted an uninhabited area of Saudi Arabia on Thursday. It says the attack was carried out in retaliation for decrees issued in Saudi Arabia that insult Shias and encourage people to kill them. Saudi Arabia has been one of the vocal supporters of Takfiri insurgents fighting against the Syrian government. Riyadh also stands accused of promoting sectarian violence in Iraq.

The Libyan army goes on a state of alert in the eastern city of Benghazi after nine people including soldiers are killed in clashes between security forces and Salafi militants.
The fighting erupted following an army operation against the militants from Ansar al-Sharia group that lasted for several hours. Nearly 50 soldiers and civilians were also injured. The unrest comes after weeks of deadly clashes in the city and in the capital Tripoli. Local militias which were empowered during the NATO war on Libya have now turned against the state. Their refusal to put down arms has sparked public protests and the subsequent killings.

The area in western Damascus is home to a complex-- housing families of soldiers fighting against foreign backed insurgents. Syria has seen a rise in such attacks since government forces escalated their mop-up operations to clear more areas of the foreign-backed militants.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah told a Lebanese TV channel that he has no doubt that the al-Qaeda affiliated group which claimed responsibility for the attack was linked to the Saudi intelligence agency. Nasrallah also noted that the blasts, which targeted the Iranian Embassy in south Beirut, were related to Saudi Arabia\\\\\\\'s anger toward Iran and its failure in Syria. Saudi Arabia has supported and funded the insurgent groups fighting against the Syrian government. The November 19 embassy bombings left 25 people dead and over a hundred and fifty injured.

More infighting breaks out between militants in Syria as the national army pushes ahead with operations across the country.
The opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says a militant group calling itself the Islamic Front seized a crossing on the Turkish border from other insurgents. The capture of the Bab al-Hawa crossing came a few days after the Islamic Front took control of some arms depots of the Free Syrian Army. The Islamic Front does not recognize the F-S-A, which is one of the main armed opposition groups fighting the government. Meanwhile, masked gunmen have abducted a prominent Syrian human rights lawyer in Douma, a suburb of Damascus. Razan Zaytouni had accused al-Qaeda-linked insurgents of kidnapping activists and lawyers.

This is while, Kurdish People\'s Protection Units have recaptured the north-eastern village of Tweineh, near al-Hasakah city, following clashes with militants of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah will settle its score with Israel. Referring to the crisis in Syria and the role of Hezbollah, Nasrallah said that his movement is fighting to protect the whole Middle East region form the threat of extremist groups. The Syrian ambassador to Lebanon says Israel is now using the Takfiris as a tool to try to weaken Syria but to no avail as many in the Arab world are revising their stance with regard to what is going on in the country. The Hezbollah chief also talked about the current political standoff in Lebanon, saying that the deadlock should be resolved through the formation of a national unity government. While Hezbollah has been trying to counter the activities of Saudi-backed takfiri elements in Lebanon and Syria, the secretary general of Hezbollah has stressed that the battle against Israel remains an open battle and that the Lebanese resistance movement will retaliate Israeli moves at the necessary time and place.

The United Nations Security Council has expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis and the deteriorating security situation in South Sudan amid a fierce political battle.
The UN said an attack by armed men on its compound in Jonglei state left two Indian peacekeepers dead on Thursday. The targets of the attack were said to be members of President Salva Kiir\\\'s tribe who had sought refuge in the UN compound. The violence began on Sunday in the capital Juba following a failed coup and has since spread rapidly across the country. The president has accused former vice president Riek Machar of attempting to seize power by force. At least 500 people are believed to have died since Sunday in the fighting between the army and Machar\\\'s supporters. The oil-rich country has been struggling to achieve stable government since it seceded from Sudan in 2011, with Western support.

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman is urging rival political factions to ensure the needed quorum in parliament for the election of Lebanon\\\'s next president.Suleiman\\\'s six-year-term expires in May 2014 and is preceded by a two-month constitutional period.
Lebanon\\\'s first man has also kicked off talks with Lebanese rival factions in a bid to help Prime-Minister Designate \\\"Tammam Salam\\\" form a cabinet line-up prior to the two-month constitutional period. The cabinet line-up formation however has been in limbo for the past 9 months namely due to the Saudi-backed March 14 Bloc\\\'s boycott of parliamentary sessions citing Hezbollah\\\'s intervention in Syria as a pretext. The Saudi-backed March 14th Bloc is now calling for a neutral line-up while the Hezbollah-led March 8th is calling for an all-embracing cabinet while rejecting a De-Facto one. The proposal of a neutral cabinet has also been slammed by Lebanese Druze Leader Walid Jumblat who warned it would be a \\\"leap into the unknown\\\". Meanwhile, the Free Patriotic Movement has accused the March 14th Bloc of paving the way for a presidential vacuum through the continued boycott of parliamentary sessions dubbing the movement\\\'s obstruction of government institutions as part of instructions taken from their regional allies pre-Geneva II talks. The Free Patriotic Movement MP also highlighted what he described as an alarming pledge by Riyadh\\\'s ambassador to London who vowed continued military and financial support for the foreign-backed groups fighting in Syria even if Saudi Arabia goes it alone. The MP warned the March 14th Bloc of following their Saudi ally\\\'s footsteps as well. Though Lebanon\\\'s President has vowed a smooth transition of power rebuffing any attempt to extend his mandate, fears of a vacuum at the presidential post are simmering in Beirut for their grave consequences on Lebanon. Lebanese leaders are warning that the presidential vacuum added to the cabinet limbo would tow the country into security, political and constitutional chaos.

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says 15 people have been killed in the latest airstrikes, bringing the total death toll to over 360 during the period. Zainab, is the granddaughter of Islam\\\'s Prophet Mohammad (pbuh). She\\\'s known as the messenger of the Battle of Karbala during which Imam Hossein and his 72 companions were killed while fighting against Yazid and his cohorts. Zainab led two great missions to reveal the truth, as she unmasked the true face of Yazid, and portrayed who Prophet Mohammad\\\'s household were and what they stood for.
The role Zainab played during and after the Battle of Karbala was the main topic at a conference held in Indian-controlled Kashmir. The gathering, the first of its kind in Kashmir, attracted female scholars, professionals and students from across the region. Participants shed light on the personality of Zainab. Speakers hailed Zainab as the symbol of women\\\'s empowerment and resistance against oppression, as she shook the foundations of Yazid\\\'s rule and bravely spoke out against him. The speakers said it is moral responsibility of every human being, especially women, to safeguard Zainab\\\'s legacy and follow her path. Also at the conference, a special message from the representative of Iran\\\'s leader of Islamic Revolution to India was read. Speakers at the conference believe that such events help the campaigners of truth and justice understand the message of Karbala and the life of Imam Hussein, and pass the lessons to next generations.

Lebanon\\\'s defense minister says Majed al-Majed, who headed the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, was captured by the country\\\'s intelligence service in Beirut. It\\\'s not clear yet when the arrest took place. Majed is a high-profile terrorist wanted by the U-S and other countries. He had earlier traveled to Syria to pledge his allegiance to the notorious al-Nusra Front, which is fighting against the Syrian government. His group claimed responsibility for November\\\'s twin bombings that killed about two dozen people outside the Iranian embassy. Ever since the Islamic Revolution in Iran more than three decades ago, the country has been the constant target of terrorism and extremism. Kurdistan the western Iranian Province has been a hot spot for terror attacks that have targeted civilians more often than not.
The Democratic Party of Iran\\\'s Kurdistan and Komalah Party are extremist ethno-centric groups with separatist ideologies. They have their strongholds in neighboring countries and their leaders live in Europe. In the past three decades the two armed organizations have been responsible for the assassination and death of thousands of Kurdish people. The victims\\\' so-called crimes range from collaborating with the Islamic Revolution, to fighting alongside Iran against Saddam Hussein\\\'s invasion of the country, or to simply refusing to pay extortions. In spite of the two groups\\\' common ideology and goals, they are bitter rivals who have had thousands of their members killed in violent clashes between the two.
The Common Target though tells the story of Ebrahim Mohammadi\\\'s assassination; A simple middle aged citizen who was gunned down simply because he had taken up arms against Saddam during Iran-Iraq War. Although the order was issued by a high-ranking DPIK member in Europe, the final bullet that took Mohammadi\\\'s life was shot by a Komalah member. How did this happen? Why a common target between rivals? These questions are investigated in this documentary.

Police were tipped off that the truck belonging to an aid organization was carrying arms for al-Qaeda-linked groups in Syria. But their search of the cargo was prevented by Hatay Governor Jela-lettin Lekesiz, and the vehicle went on its way. Reports say an army post then stopped the truck and found ammunition and weapons onboard. Now the chief provincial public prosecutor is investigating the incident. Turkey is a vocal critic of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and has openly supported the insurgents fighting the government there. Ankara, however, denies arming militants in Turkey\\\'s crisis-hit neighbor. Back in December, local media said that Turkey had shipped 47 tonnes of weapons to insurgents since June.
