Iran's president lashes out at Western powers for their opposition to the outcome of the June 12 presidential election. In a Thursday address to thousands of people in the northeastern city of Mashad, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the West has gone as far as setting up satellite channels to influence Iranians against their better judgment. Ahmadinejad, who was speaking during his first provincial trip after the June 12 presidential vote, said foreign countries have no right to insult the choice made during the election. "During the whole election process, certain foreign countries attempted to push the country to the brink of civil war," argued Ahmadinejad. Iran turned into a scene of opposition rallies after the re-election of president Ahmadinejad with nearly two-thirds of the vote. President Ahmadinejad's rivals -- Mehdi Karroubi and Mir-Hossein Mousavi -- reject the election result as fraudulent and have yet to acknowledge the Iranian president's re-election. On June 20, the unrest over the result of the vote took a turn for the worse after protesters, who demanded a re-run of the 10th presidential election, gathered to hold a rally without the official permission of the country's Interior Ministry. The day turned bloody -- increasing the post-vote deaths to at least 20 -- when, according to Iranian officials, terrorist elements infiltrated the rallies. Ahmadinejad went on to say that the West has trouble tolerating an independent nation that takes a stand against their policies. He said Iran would respond to any aggressors in a way that they would forget how to return home. "I have told the enemies that this nation will strike you in the face so hard you will lose your way home," he said. The president said the high voter turnout in the recent elections has caught Westerners off guard and "has foiled all their evil plans". On the Iranian nuclear issue, Ahmadinejad said that his government would remain open to "logic and dialogue" to end the international deadlock. He, however, issued a warning. "If each and every one of the Western countries that oppose Iran's nuclear program joins forces, they would still fail to deprive the Iranian nation of its inalienable nuclear rights," he said.

FM: Iran fully supports Lebanon, Syria Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has expressed Iran's full support for Lebanon and Syria in the event of any possible Israeli aggression. The Iranian government and nation is fully prepared to support the Lebanese and Syrian nations and governments in the face of a possible Israeli aggression, Mottaki said at a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Ali al-Shami in the Iranian capital Tehran on Sunday. The Iranian minister further added that the three countries are constantly exchanging views about Israel's war threats and said Iran will offer any assistance to Lebanon and Syria. Mottaki strongly condemned the recent aggression by Israeli forces near Lebanon's southern border, saying, "Moves by the Zionist regime and the recent aggressions showed its desperation rather than an indication of a will and decision to display its strength." "Iran reserves the right for the Lebanese government, nation and army to stop any aggression in their defense and put all ways to pursue the case through international circles on their agenda," he said. Mottaki further added that that the UN peacekeeping force, known as UNIFIL, failed to fulfill its duty and to prevent such aggressions. According to the Iranian minister, regional countries will not allow Israel's hit-and-run policies to continue. He noted that Iran and Lebanon enjoy common stance on regional and international issues and support the establishment of just systems in international relations.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the US. \\\"Without a doubt, the leaders of the global arrogance engineered [this plot] and [were in charge of] the command room of these atrocities,\\\" the Leader said. Ayatollah Khamenei added that \\\"Zionist think-tanks which hold the most influence on the US government and its security and military organizations\\\" were among the accomplices in the scenario. \\\"This incident and previous incidents clearly show that what the global arrogance is attacking today is the foundation of Islam and the Holy Quran,\\\" Ayatollah Khamenei said. After Florida pastor Terry Jones called off his Quran burning plans in the face of fierce international condemnation, other anti-Islam elements in the US attempted to burn copies of the holy book on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on Saturday. Two evangelical preachers in Tennessee also set copies of the Quran on fire and members of the group Operation Rescue tore pages from the holy book of Islam. The police made no efforts to stop the desecrating acts.

Ahmadinejad hails petrol self-sufficiency - Complete Speech - Oct16-2010 - English Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has downplayed sanctions against the country, saying threats made Iran move towards gasoline self-sufficiency. "They (the enemies) wanted to threaten a great nation through imposing sanctions on gasoline and they thought they could impose their policies on our country," ISNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying in a meeting with Iranian oil industry officials and experts on Saturday. "Today we announce that we have reached self-sufficiency in the production of gasoline. It is a big event which displayed the capabilities of our experts both in the oil industry and in the international arena," he added. He slammed arrogant powers for their dominance over the world's economy, science and technology, saying, "Arrogant countries do not know that the world [equations] has changed. This is the reason they committed big mistakes in the face of the Iranian nation." Ahmadinejad went on to say that Iran has done nothing wrong in its nuclear program as it has always abided by all mutual agreements and the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Iran became self-sufficient in gasoline production under circumstances that the United Nations Security Council had imposed four rounds of sanctions on the country over allegations that Tehran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program. Iran says its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and within the framework of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, to which it is a signatory. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Sayyed Ali Khamenei was born in Mashad, the holiest city, in the north-eastern province of Khorasan, in 1939. Both his parents belonged to clergy\'s families and spent the year 1964, he achieved the highest degrees in his theological studies at the Theological Academy of Qum but continued his studies at the Theological Academy at Mashad up to the age of twenty-nine. Political Activities before Victory of The Islamic Revolution During the rule of the deposed shah, Ay. Khamenei was a favourite pupil of Imam Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, he was also considered to be one of the most eminent and dependable leaders of the movement of the Iranian Muslims, this movement entered a new phase in 1962 after Imam Khomini`s pronouncements against the Shah regime. Responsibilities After the Victory In the course of these struggles, Ay. Khamenei was arrested many times and spent three years in prison between 1964 and 1978. He was also exiled to a place with worst climate condition for almost a year. In 1978, upon return from exile and the height of the revolutionary of the Iranian Muslims, he, together with a few close associates led the struggle of the people in Khorasan. Later, in the same year when Leader of the Revolution was temporarily in Paris, he was selected as a member of the government of the Islamic Republic of IRAN. He was entrusted with the responsibility of representing the Revolutionary Council in the Army as well as Deputy for Revolutionary Affairs at the National Ministry of Defence and some time later. He was appointed to the post of the Revolutionary guards. At about this time, Imam Khomeini chose him to lead the Friday congregational Prayers in Tehran and in 1980 he was elected to Islamic Consultative Assembly by the people of Tehran. After the formation of the Supreme Council of Defence, Ay. Khamenei joined it as the representative of Imam Khomeini. Ay. Khamenei was one of the founding members of the Islamic Republic Party in IRAN and held the post of the Secretary-General of the Party. Ay. Khamenei was the victim of an assassination attempt on 27th June 1981. having delivered an important speech at the consultative assembly, which ended in the dismissal of Bani-Sader from the Presidency of IRAN, he was addressing the faithful at poor residential area in Tehran, after leading the congregational prayer, when a time-bomb exploded nearby which injured him in the hand, chest and face. He was immediately transferred to a hospital by the deboted people of Tehran and he miraculously survived; his right hand, however, is not still functioning properly. Presidency In the 1981, following the martyrdom of the second President of the Islamic republic of Iran, he becomes a candidate and, in September of the same year, he was elected the Third President of the Islamic Republic of Iran with %95 of the votes cast in his favour by the Iranian people (the total number of votes was 16,847,717). He was reelected as president in 1985 for a second four-year term. Ay. Khamenei heads the Supreme Council of Defence and the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. Since the beginning of the imposed war, he has often visited various war fronts and has often inspected the frontline in order to help remove any shortcoming or to advise on organizational matters. Leadership In 4th June 1989, One day after demise of Imam Khomeimi, Assembly of Experts closed Ayatollah Khamenei to lead the Islamic Revolution of IRAN.Since 1994, Ayatollah Khamenei has been introduced as the Religious authority in religious authority for Shi`ait people in the world by the Ulama from different countries. Family Mr. Khamenei is married and has six children. Works & Books He has a good command of the Arabic and Turkish and English language and, in addition to writing, he is a good judge of literary and poetic works. He has translated and written numerous books on Islam and history. His translations include \" Future of the Islamic lands,\" \" A Thdictment against the Western Civilization,\" and \" Imam Hassan`s Peace Treaty.\" From among his writings, one may mention: \" The Role of Muslims in the Independence struggle of India.\" General Pattern of Islamic Thought in the Quran,\" The Question of Patience,\" On the Inner Depth of prayers,\" \"Understanding Islam properly,\" \"Imam Al-Sadegh`s Life,\" and a collection of lectures on the question of Imamate. He was also a co-writer of the famous pamphlet \" Our Positions,\" which helped the political, social and philosophical advancement of Islamic Republic Party. Other contributors were martyred Ayatollah Beheshti, martyred Hojjatol-Eslam Bahonar and Hojjatol-Eslam Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Thousands of Turkish Shia braved freezing temperatures to commemorate the death of Imam Hussein on the day of Ashura. They walked through Istanbul streets beating their chests as is the religious ritual to feel the suffering of Imam Hussein at Karbala. The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the commemorations this year, a first since his party came to power in 2002. Erdogan's message was one of unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims, he himself a follower of the Sunni hanife faith. People here told us that although they were in mourning, the Prime Minister's message was one of hope. The former Iranian Foreign Minister echoing this message by calling on Muslims to stand stead fast in the face of those who want to spread havoc in the Islamic world. This perhaps a reference to the latest attack in Iran. An attack the Turkish prime minister strongly condemned. Every year, Turkish Shia reenact the battle of Kerbala as is their tradition, however blood letting is forbidden here. Turkish Shia perform their religious duty by donating blood to the Turkish red crescent. Ashura is an important day on the Shia calendar, and this year it was also acknowledged by Turkey's Sunni leadership.

According to some commentators it is a reference to the period in which the Holy Prophet (s) was sent into this world to preach the religion of ALLAH (swt), Islam, so that mankind, in all ages, come out from the darkness of ignorance into the light of divine guidance and reach higher realms of spiritual bliss. Some say that it refers to afternoon prayers (salatul asr). Imam Jafar bin Muhammad as Sadiq (as) said: \"It refers to the age when the living Imam of the Ahl ul Bayt, Muhammad bin Hasan al Mahdi al Qa-im (ajtfs), will be commissioned by ALLAH (swt) to administer the society of all human beings under the law of ALLAH (swt) prescribed in the religion of Islam.\" Whether it refers to the time of the Holy Prophet (s) or his true successor who will act according to the teachings and laws he brought from ALLAH (swt) to guide mankind, those who follow them will achieve success in the life of hereafter, and those who reject them will be the losers. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) has said that the person who recites this surah in his recommended prayers will have a shining face on the Day of Judgement. The one who recites this surah will be patient in adversity and will be counted from among the people of truth. If this surah is written after ‘Isha prayers and kept, it will be a safety from the tyrant ruler in whose presence one is brought.

This is a ‘meccan’ surah. Ghashiyah means that which overshadows or overwhelms-a terrible thing or event which makes people lose their senses. The “day of Judgement” is indicated as an event when all that which we have seen and experienced in the life of this world will be lost and the only reality before us will be the process of reckoning. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (saw) that the one who recites this surah will not face difficulty in the accounting of deeds on the “Day of Judgement” and ALLAH (swt) will show Mercy to him/her and save him/her from Jahannam. Reciting this surah near a baby removes fright from him/her and stops his/her crying. Imam Ali (as) has said that if this surah is recited over a paining part of the body, the pain will go away and if recited over food items, it removes any bad effects of that food.

This is a ‘meccan’ surah. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (saw) that a person who recites this surah will never face bad times. The person who recites it in the Isha or Tahajjud prayers always remains pure of heart and even dies while he/she is in a pure state. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) said that a person who recites this surah properly will get a chance to meet the Holy Prophet (saw) and if he/she prays for a specific wish he/she will get InshALLAH. Reciting surah al-Muzammil a hundred times on Thursday night leads to the forgiving of a hundred major sins and procures a hundred rewards. Recitation of this surah protects one from insanity and from being a slave to people.

This is a ‘meccan’ surah. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) that frequent recitation of this surah is a protection from Jinn and the reciter will be in the company of the Holy Prophet (saw) on the Day of Resurrection. This surah also protects one from the evil actions of an unjust person. Prisoners secure early release by reciting this surah and those who recite it properly will never face poverty or starvation. Keeping this surah in one’s possession ensures safety from the Jinn, victory in debate or confrontation, and safety of possession and wealth. Debts are also easily paid back.

This is a “meccan” surah. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (saw) that the face of the person reciting this surah will shine like the full moon on the “Day of Reckoning”. The best time to recite this surah is at night and this carries the highest reward. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) said that the one who recites this surah will have a mount from Jannah on which he/she will sit when he/she wakes from his/her grave. Whoever keeps this surah under his/her cap / turban or scarf / makna at the time of Jumu’ah prayers will be highly respected by the people and his/her difficulties will be eased.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the Iranian nation\\\\\\\'s voice is echoed in the countries of the Muslim world, pointing to the Tunisia revolution and Egypt uprising. “Today, developments in North Africa, [including] Egypt, Tunisia and some other countries have a special meaning for the Iranian nation,” the Leader stated. “This is what was always referred to as the Islamic awakening created by the victory of the great revolution of the Iranian nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in his comments during the Friday prayer sermons in Tehran. Ayatollah Khamenei noted that Tunisia\\\\\\\'s former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was dependent on the US and even the CIA. The Leader also pointed to the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak as a “lackey of the Zionist Regime.” Ayatollah Khamenei said that Americans and Israelis have become helpless in the face of freedom-seeking Egyptians and noted that irreparable defeat awaits the US and Israel in Tunisia and Egypt. The Leader made a reference to Egyptians\\\\\\\' fight for “dignity and honor” and noted that Mubarak\\\\\\\'s biggest crime was to make Egypt a tool in the hands of the US. Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Egyptian army would join the masses and will line up against the enemy. Ayatollah Khamenei also said the Islamic Revolution in Iran disrupted the plots by Western countries trying to establish weak and vulnerable regimes in the Middle East. The Leader said Iran\\\\\\\'s enemies have been launching a psychological war against it for the past 32 years, pointing to the 2009 post-election events in Iran as the enemies\\\\\\\' latest scenario to damage the Islamic Revolution. Ayatollah Khamenei said their plots however will have no effect on the Iranian nation.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah says the Egyptian Revolution will leave an impact on all regional and global developments. “It has always been said that Egypt is the mother of the world. This is right and you (Egyptians) who are there, you are the great people who can, with your will and solidarity, change the face of the world,” Nasrallah said in a speech on Monday. “You are waging the war of Arab dignity. Today, with your voices, blood and steadfastness, you are retrieving the dignity of the Arab people; the dignity which was humiliated by some rulers of the Arab world for decades.” He explained that the delay in announcing Hezbollah\\\\\\\'s stance was not because of hesitance or any confusion. Hezbollah was afraid if it announced its stance earlier, the protesters in Tunisia and Egypt would be accused of being moved or controlled by Hezbollah or the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and they would be accused of serving a foreign agenda, Nasrallah added. Now that the people are overcoming the Mubarak regime, “We are gathering here to announce our solidarity and our standing side by side in support of the people of Egypt … We are also side by side with the people of Tunisia,” the Hezbollah leader said. Nasrallah elaborated on some fundamental points about the Egyptian revolution. “We are witnessing a real popular revolution; a real Egyptian nationalist revolution. Muslims and Christians are participating in this revolution. Islamic factions, secular parties, nationalist parties and all walks of life are participating,” he said. “This revolution is the result of the determination and commitment of the Egyptian people,” and contrary to the US and Israeli propaganda that say it is just “a revolution for bread,” the movement is also a “political, humanitarian and social revolution,” he pointed out. Millions of Egyptians have for two weeks taken to the streets across the country to call for the ouster of the Mubarak regime. More than 300 people are estimated to have been killed since the protests began. People from all walks of life are flooding into Cairo\\\\\\\'s Liberation Square and many have been spending nights at the square despite heavy military presence. Also in Alexandria, people have gathered at the city\\\\\\\'s main square chanting their revolution will not die. Meanwhile, the Egyptian revolution coalition has reportedly rejected negotiations with the government of Vice President Omar Suleiman. On Sunday, millions of Egyptians were out on the streets in the capital and other major cities to honor hundreds of their countrymen killed during the anti-government rallies. Hostility toward the United States is widespread among the protesters as they hold Washington responsible for Mubarak\\\\\\\'s grip on power. Demonstrators say they will not leave the streets until Mubarak steps down.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, in a TV address, has said that he does not plan to step down, angering pro-democracy protesters in the country who had urged his immediate resignation. Mubarak stated that he will never leave Egypt in the face of 17 tumultuous days of public protests, provoking outbursts of anger from protesters at Cairo's' Liberation square, who prior to the speech had created dramatic scenes of jubilation as they expected Mubarak to declare his resignation, a Press TV correspondent reported. The embattled president once again asserted that he will not stand as candidate for the upcoming elections, and that he was transferring some powers to Vice President Omar Suleiman. He further acknowledged that his government had made mistakes and expressed sorrow for those killed in the demonstrations, promising that those responsible for the killings would be punished. "I don't feel embarrassment in holding talks with the youths and creating dialog," said Mubarak, adding that "the protesters' blood will not be in vain." Meanwhile, Vice President Omar Suleiman made a speech during which he called on Egyptians youth to to go back home and resume work. The protesters took off their shoes and brandished them at the screen on which they had seen Mubarak's speech, and shouted "Down with Mubarak, leave, leave!" Others called for an immediate general strike and called on army -- which has deployed large numbers of troops around the square -- to support the Egyptian nation, instead of Mubarak's “illegitimate” regime. "Egyptian army, the choice is now, the regime or the people,” the protesters chanted. Meanwhile, a Press TV correspondent said that furious crowds of people at Cairo's' Liberation Square, which has become the focal point of pro-democracy demonstrations, are moving toward Mubarak's palace to vent out their outrage at the decision. Reports say more than 300 people have been killed by security forces and thousands injured since the beginning of the revolution on January 25.

This Video recorded a peaceful protest in Pearl Square - Manama Capital when Bahrain police intentionally used guns & fires including some weapons that internationally banned such as Fission bullets which killed at least 7 people & wounded 2500. Many people including women & children transferred to the hospital in critical condition. Please support the human rights over the world & cover this major crackdown on human rights. This panel was a part of 2nd Annual ICNYU Conference held during the first weekend of February at New York University. Panelists included Suhaib Webb, Raymond Brock Murray, Lisa Shah, Will Caldwell, Musa Bryant, Megan Putney, Whitney Terrill, Lisa Shah, Peter Casey, Cyrus McGoldrick , Jay Dabhi and the discussion was facilitated by Khalid Latif. Usually when the convert experience is discussed in a Muslim community, the discussion focuses on why the individual converted. Although there is a great benefit in hearing these stories, the discussion never deepens into issues a convert faces after converting. This panel discusses the real experiences that converts face in dealing with the Muslim community after converting as well as issues with family, relationship, education, and many other topics. ICNYU started the Conver(t)sations program this past January. This program aims to establish an entry point into the community for those who have converted or reverted to Islam. It can be hard for many of us to fit in and find a comfortable place in the Muslim community, and those who are converts are no exception to this. Our hope is to provide an outlet for socializing, mentorship, and discussion that makes the transition process easier for our brothers and sisters who have made the decision to embrace the faith.
