Woman in Saudi Arabia have mobilized to challenge the government and religious authorities to find a solution to ban on driving. This edition of Press TV's Islam and Life asks whether Islam really does ban women from driving.

International rights groups are calling on Saudi Arabia to allow women to drive ahead of a planned day of defiance against a ban on female drivers. Amnesty International wants Saudi authorities to respect women\'s right to drive. The group has expressed astonishment that in the 21st century, Saudi authorities continue to deny women the right to legally drive a car. Human Rights Watch has also thrown its weight behind the Saudi women\'s campaign dubbed \"Women to Drive\". Meanwhile, Saudi authorities have threatened women not to join the campaign on Saturday. Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world which forbids women from getting behind the wheel. Recently, dozens of women have defiantly posted online videos of themselves driving in several Saudi cities.

More bad news for women in Saudi Arabia, as the kingdom\'s Grand Mufti says the country\'s ban on women\'s driving protects the society from evil. Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah also said that allowing women to drive is not the society\'s concern. His comments come as activists in the Persian Gulf monarchy have time and again protested the ban. This, while the Saudi interior minister has assured rights activists that authorities are re-assessing the situation. To this day, Saudi Arabia is the only country where women are not allowed to drive.

The young buses cheer when Cito and Hana tell them they\'ll be out of town for a day. The buses have always wanted to stay up, playing until late in the night. The night comes, but Cito and Hana are not there to make them go to bed. The buses stay up playing hide-and-seek, watching TV, and practicing driving. Gani goes over the repair shop, dizzy from too much driving practice. He\'s soon joined by Tayo and Rogi as they play hide-and-seek, as well as Lani, who is angry about not being able to watch TV because of those two. The repair shop becomes a mess and Gani\'s life is put in danger. The young buses don\'t know what to do. It\'s a relief when Hana and Cito appear suddenly to fix the problem. The young buses clean up the repair shop with Hana.

While driving riverside with Tayo, Speedy and Shine decide to have a race after bickering about who\'s the faster of the two. Their race is stopped by Rookie and Pat as they scold Speedy and Shine for driving dangerously over the speed limit. Next, the two decide to race against the high speed train when Met tells them that the train is the fastest vehicle in the world. Shine lets his ambition get the better of him and undergoes illegal engine remodeling to improve his chances of winning. However, his engine breaks down and puts him in danger. Speedy asks Pat and Rookie for help and risks incurring their wrath. In the end, Speedy and Shine promise the police that they will not take part in dangerous races anymore.

Saudi women\'s struggle for more rights is once again under the spotlight with international rights groups expressing support for them. But some signs suggest women have a tough road ahead of them in a kingdom that has been widely criticized for rights violations.

Cito the tour bus is hard at work as always, driving tourists around. Curious about whether the young buses are doing well, he checks up on them whenever he can. Cito spends a busy day helping the buses: Lani, who couldn\'t change lanes because of other cars; Big, who was stuck in a road under construction; Rogi, who was helping Big out; and Tayo, who was put in danger because of an old truck. It\'s a tiring day for Cito, but the thanks he receives from the young buses makes it all worthwhile.

Big Matt then tried to turn in the way Cobie did; however, his huge body was not easy to control, he fell into a slough and could not move. How could Big Matt get out of it? How would Choppy Tony the helicopter, our new character, help him?

Shine, a luxury car, enjoys the attention he gets from all the young buses when he visits the repair shop in the garage. However, his pride is hurt when Tayo appears with bubbles and steals away all the attention. Shine follows Tayo around acting all important, only to be humiliated in the end. He gets stuck on a road while trying to impress Tayo by driving on a road under construction. To make matters worse, Shine runs out of fuel and faints. Shine regains consciousness at the sound of Tayo calling him. It had seemed like Tayo had deserted him, but Tayo had actually gone to call Toto to rescue Shine. The two of them become good friends.

Nuri the taxi promises to watch a TV show called \'Fireball the Superhero\' with the buses in the garage. Nuri works hard as always, driving her passengers to their destinations as well as helping people out. A suspicious looking passenger gets in the taxi on Nuri\'s way to the garage. The passenger turns out to be Fireball in disguise, hiding from his hard core fans! Nuri kindly takes Fireball to his destination and ends up on the show with him. All the young buses envy Nuri when they see her on the show.

Saudi authorities have warned against a campaign to give women the right to drive in the conservative kingdom. The warning comes as Saudi female activists are gearing up against a long-standing driving ban, with more defiant women already getting behind the wheel. More than 50 videos showing Saudi women driving have been posted online over the past two weeks. A video, which went viral on the Internet this month, shows a fully veiled woman driving in the capital Riyadh as passing drivers give her a thumbs-up. Under the slogan, Women\'s Driving is a Choice, female activists have called for a demonstration on Saturday against the ban in the country. One Saudi woman by the name of Manal al-Sharif, who was put behind bars a couple of year ago for posting a video of herself while driving, says Saudi women are determined to drive.

The videotape smuggled out of the country by Bassam Nabulsi, a businessman from Houston, Texas, depicts Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the UAE Crown Prince's brother, savagely torturing a man. The victim was beaten with wooden planks with nails protruding from them and then the prince poured salt on his bleeding wounds. The video also shows the prince setting fire to parts of the victim's body, giving him electric shocks with a cattle prod, ramming desert sand into his mouth, and firing bullets around him with an automatic rifle. The gruesome footage released by ABC News also shows Sheikh Issa driving over the victim repeatedly with his luxury Mercedes SUV. The sound of breaking bones is clearly audible in this scene. On the video, the victim identified as Afghan grain dealer Mohammed Shah Poor, screams and asks for mercy but the UAE prince sadistically orders the cameraman to come closer to get a better record of the man's suffering. A UAE police officer in uniform can also be seen helping Issa and his men torturing the Afghan man. The Sheikh accused Shah Poor "of short changing on a grain delivery to his royal ranch on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi". The UAE Interior Ministry has admitted that Sheikh Issa had been involved in the torture but claimed that "The incidents depicted in the video tapes were not part of a pattern of behavior." The government also insisted that "all rules, policies and procedures were followed correctly by the Police Department." Sheikh Issa is one of UAE's 22 “Royal Sheikhs” and a son of the country's one and only president, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who died in 2004. Nablusi, who smuggled the 45-minute tape out of the Arab country, says he too was tortured by the UAE police to force him to hand over the tape to them. He is now filing a lawsuit against the Sheikh in a US federal court in Houston. The video was allegedly recorded by Nablusi's brother because the Sheikh took pleasure in watching torture scenes later. Nabulsi who was Sheikh Issa's former business partner, was allegedly arrested and charged by UAE police over narcotics trafficking after he refused to turn over the video. After spending time in a UAE prison, Nablusi was finally deported from the country and his passport was stamped with "Not Allowed to Return to the UAE." The businessman says the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi was aware of the torture tapes but did nothing and only advised him to leave the country. UAE is one of the closest allies of the US in the Middle East and the US Navy operates out of a major base near Dubai.
