Even politicians have made such remarks. German chancellor, Angela Merkel has also recently commented that Muslims are failing to integrate in Germany. [23 July 2012] Pakistan Supreme Court takes up petitions against contempt law - English The Supreme Court has finally taken up 26 constitutional petitions seeking to strike down new contempt law which gives discriminatory immunity to Prime Minister, the President and other key public office holders from prosecution on contempt of court charges. The petitioners pleaded before the Supreme Court that new law is designed to curtail the power of court to punish Prime Minister and other public office holder who are refusing to reopen money laundering cases of millions of dollars against President Asif Ali Zardari.

The American Studies Association says it will go ahead with its decision to boycott Israel. The incoming president of the association says she will fully support the boycott against Israeli academics over Tel Aviv\\\'s conflict with Palestinians. The move was launched last month by the five-thousand-member association. The American Studies Association says Israeli institutions that aid and support the illegal occupation are to be boycotted over the discriminatory treatment of Palestinians. Meanwhile, two New York politicians have introduced a legislation to pull state funding from any public college that boycotts Israel.

Iran welcomes a UN Security Council resolution which calls for greater cooperation against kidnappings by terrorist groups. Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham has said that the resolution is only a first step toward ending terrorism and that a collective effort by all countries is needed to achieve that. She warned against employing double standards in implementing the UN resolution. Afkham said that if the world fails to deal with terrorism properly and allows a discriminatory approach, all attempts would fail and more countries would fall victim to violence. Afkham said that Iran is ready to take practical steps at the regional and international levels to help tackle terrorism. The UN resolution strongly condemns incidents of kidnapping and hostage-taking committed by terrorists and calls on all countries to stop paying ransom to kidnappers who use the money to finance terrorist groups.
