There are rising questions over the US role in staging coups and supporting dictators in Latin America in the past decades. Many observers now blame Washington for human rights abuses in several Latin American states-- including Chile and Argentina. Press TV\'s Constanza Heller reports from Buenos Aires.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the Israeli prime minister is a professional assassin, who should be tried for his crimes against the people of Palestine. "[Benjamin] Netanyahu should be tried in court for blockading Gaza and massacring innocent Palestinian women and children," Ahmadinejad said in an interview with CNN's Larry King on Wednesday. "Netanyahu is a professional assassin. All dictators in history accuse others to turn the spotlight away from themselves," the Iranian president said when asked about the Israeli prime minister's worries about Iran. "It is questionable [why] American media feel responsible for this person (Netanyahu)," Ahmadinejad said, adding that "you (American media) are afraid of Netanyahu's warmongering." The Iranian president said the US and Israel's nuclear weapons are the main threat to the world, and they are mistaken to think they can divert attention from this issue by using propaganda campaigns and spreading lies about others. "Iran is firmly after the nuclear disarmament of the US and Israel." Ahmadinejad added that Israel is an "illegitimate regime" and an "occupier" and that the US easily starts wars and massacres people, "they are not qualified to have nuclear weapons and should be disarmed as soon as possible." When asked about the fate of a former FBI agent who allegedly disappeared on Kish Island, the Iranian president said a "joint Iranian-American intelligence committee is to investigate the matter." Robert Levinson, a former FBI agent, disappeared on March 9, 2007 on Kish Island where he was doing investigative work for a private security firm. US officials have dismissed suggestions that Levinson was on assignment for a US government agency. Iranian authorities have announced that Tehran has no information on the matter but they stand ready to work with the FBI if asked by Washington.

A demonstration is also expected in Germany to show solidarity with Egyptian protesters. Egyptian security forces have clashed with protesters in the capital Cairo and several other cities where rallies are held against the government of Mubarak. Thousands of protesters have defied an overnight curfew and to stay on Cairo's streets. Security forces have been replaced with army troops on the streets of Alexandria. Latest reports at least three people have been killed during Friday's protests, bringing to 12 the number of those killed in the unrest. Scores of others have been wounded in the massive protests. Egypt's largest opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, earlier called on all Egyptians to take to the streets. Sources say the opposition leaders brace for massive arrests across the country. The Egyptian government has cut all cell-phone and Internet services amid anti-government demonstrations that began after the Friday prayers. The army has also been brought in and military vehicles are seen on the streets of the capital following violent clashes between police and protesters. Opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei was among other top figures, who attended the rally. Reports say ElBaradei has been placed under house arrest after joining the massive anti-government protests in Cairo. Security forces initially prevented ElBaradei from leaving a mosque in Giza. Protestors are putting pressure on governments across the Arab world - demanding changes in leadership and policies. In Yemen, tens of thousands of people marched in the capital, Sanaa. Opposition groups are calling for the president to stand down, after more than three decades in power.

Drawing inspiration from the revolt in Tunisia, thousands of Yemenis fed up with their president's 32-year rule demanded his ouster Saturday in a noisy demonstration that appeared to be the first large-scale public challenge to the strongman. (Jan. 22)
