Iran is taking a government-owned British company to the High Court over purchased weaponry that was never delivered. According to a report by The Independent, Tehran is pushing for six hundred fifty seven million dollars in compensation. The dispute goes back to 35 years ago when the deposed Shah of Iran paid the International Military Services 1 billion dollars for Chieftain battle tanks and repair vehicles. The arsenal was, however, not fully delivered, as a result of the 19-79 Islamic Revolution. A spokesman for the British Ministry of Defense has said that they hope a settlement could be reached before legal proceedings begin. He also said no money will be paid to Iran while the EU sanctions remain in place. The European Union Council has already suspended part of the sanctions following the interim nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers in November 2013.

Peugeot-Citroen was the worst affected French company when the U-S and its allies imposed sanctions against Iran in 2012. Until then, the car-maker had been sending spare parts to its former partner Iran-Khodro. When it stopped doing so, it entered a period of deep crisis which led to thousands of job cuts in the company. In a country facing record high unemployment, this was a shock. With the new deal between Iran and five permanent members of the U-N Security Council plus Germany, the sanctions on Tehran are eased, bringing a mix of respite and caution to labor unions. Peugeot Citroen\'s share prices rose just a day after the ease on sanctions was announced. Before the sanctions, the company was the biggest player on Iranian roads. Peugeot has recently announced it is hiring a new chairman in 2014. But labor unions are skeptical if Carlos Tavares can really turn around the car-maker\'s fortunes. In the coming days, Tehran will host the first international car makers\' conference on Iranian auto-industry. And that is where French car brands will find out, if they will dominate Iranian roads as they once did.

Some of them rely on Iranian oil because of the flexibility in payment. In Tanzania, Iranian embassy and a shipping agent in Dubai had to assure the country that no Iranian ships have been re-flagged to dodge sanctions to import oil to the East African nation. Kenya has cancelled plans to import crude oil from Iran following threats of sanctions, an official at the Kenyan energy ministry has said. The outline deal signed last month was to import about 4 Million tonnes of oil from the Iranian National Oil Company. But the US embassy in Nairobi had warned it was important to cut revenue to the Iranian government.

[23 June 2012] Iranian president in Venezuela to boost bilateral ties - English Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warmly greeted his close ally Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the presidential palace in Caracas. The Iranian leader arrived in Venezuela's capital from stops in Brazil, where he attended the United Nations Rio+20 conference in Rio de Janeiro, and Bolivia.Chavez and Ahmadinejad vowed to keep building closer ties. The Venezuelan president has expressed solidarity with Iran on its nuclear energy program which Iran insists it's for peaceful purposes. Caracas and Tehran have signed an estimated five billion dollars worth of trade deals and accords since 2001 including construction projects, car factories and most recently an agreement for Caracas to manufacture unmanned aerial aircrafts better known as drones.The United States has looked at these accords with disapproval and last year put sanctions on Venezuela's state oil company for making deals with Iran's energy sector.Chavez criticized the sanctions against Iran and pledged to continue being Tehran's key ally in Latin America.This is President Ahmadinejad second visit to Venezuela this year. According to Hugo Chavez there have been more than 300 bilateral accords signed by both countries.

[16 July 2012] George Galloway London militarized for Olympics - English The private security company, G4S, was handed 300 million pounds to hire 10,000 security guards to police the London Olympics. Last week, the army marched in another 3,500 soldiers to tighten the security for Londoners. "There are already signs all over the place warning drivers not to venture in the central London and the underground stations are festooned with posters warning of the mayhem to come," said George Galloway. East London, where the Olympics are centered, has become a militarized zone. Blocks of apartments have had ground-to-air missile batteries installed on their roofs despite protests by the owners. Special lanes are being installed on approach roads so the athletes and organizers can be fast tracked, avoiding the traffic jams. According to the governor of the Bank of England, Britain is now in recession, which is set to continue for another five years.

Corruption in Iran-UAE Gas Agreement. What is today known as Crescent case was an agreement signed in 2001 between National Iranian Oil Company, NIOC and United Arab Emirates oil and gas company Crescent to sell the company gas. The case is now in International Hague Arbitration Tribunal for corruption. According to the signed contract, Iran was obligated to export sour gas from joint Iran-UAE oil and gas field, Salman to UAE for twenty five years. Iranian officials say that the incentive to sign the contract was signed not national interest but corruption and bribe. According to Iranian Judiciary some of the officials involved in this case have already been convicted of taking bribe in Iran\'s criminal court.

India will develop a gas field in Iran. Farzad-B is an offshore field in Farsi block in southern Iran. National Iranian Oil Company has offered its production sharing contract to India. It comes to a consortium of three Indian public sector petroleum companies. They include ONGC Videsh, Indian Oil and Oil India. There could still be serious obstacles. Any company doing business with Tehran could face international economic sanction. The Indian companies are not worried. They are confident that a way could be found to escape these sanctions. Iran\'s Vice President for Strategic Planning, Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, in a press conference answered questions about the country\'s draft budget bill. The document was presented to Iranian Parliament by Iran\'s president Hassan Rouhani on Sunday. The 315 billion dollar draft budget bill is 7.5 percent more than last year\'s budget. It is made up of general budget which is 7.3 percent less and company budget that is 9.6 percent more than last year\'s budget. Nobakht stated that the increase in company budget sends an economic message to the private sector.
