In Bahrain, regime forces have once again used force against protesters. Regime forces fired tear gas and birdshot at a funeral procession for a young Bahraini protester, identified as Fadhil Abbas Muslim. He was shot earlier this month. Scores of people have been killed and many more injured since a popular uprising against the rule of the Al Khalifah family broke out in the Arab kingdom about three years ago. And dozens of activists have been imprisoned for attending demonstrations. International human rights organizations have repeatedly criticized the Manama regime for its excessive use of force against peaceful protesters.

The casualties have been reported from Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia, and Fayoum. The clashes broke out when security forces fired tear gas, birdshot and live gunfire to disperse protesters. Demonstrators were out joining rallies after Friday prayers to demand an end to military rule and voice opposition to the new constitution. Similar violence has been reported from Suez, Assiut and northern Sinai. Security forces rounded up a large number of protesters across the country. Egypt has been tense ahead of Morsi\\\'s court and an upcoming referendum on a new constitution. Muslim Brotherhood has pledged to boycott the referendum slated to be held later this month.

Eyewitnesses say security forces have attacked students at the dormitory of Cairo\\\'s al-Azhar University. Several were injured. The security forces also used tear gas and birdshot at students at Zaqaziq University in Sharqiyah province. Egypt has recently started a crackdown against university students protesting what they call an army coup against former president Mohamed Morsi. A large number of people have been detained for taking part in the protests following Morsi\\\'s ouster in July. The detainees include Muslim Brotherhood figures and supporters. The son of one of the Brotherhood\\\'s leaders were arrested on Monday for alleged incitement to violence.

At least one Egyptian protester has been killed in an anti-government demonstration in the center of the country. Officials say the 18-year-old student was shot and killed by the security forces in the city of Deir Mawas in Minya province. The demonstration, organized by supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, was held to commemorate Egypt\'s Student Day and denounce a decision to delay the start of the academic year. The demonstrators were also angry about the possibility that army chief Marshal Sisi may run for president. Similar demonstrations were also held in Alexandria, Monufia, Ismailiyah, Suez, and Cairo. The security forces fired tear gas and birdshot at protesters in those cities.
