[20 July 2012] Pakistan postpones polio campaign due to threats - English Pakistan has postponed polio immunization campaign in parts of its tribal belt following threats to the polio program workers from pro-Taliban militants in the region.

The nine month investigation into the CIA assassination drones, which is based on public data including interviews with civilians, witnesses and survivors of the US assassination drone attacks in northwest Pakistan indicate that the attacks have killed thousands of people since the beginning, with only 2% of those killed in the attacks begin the militants.

Another suicide attack rocks the Bab Sharqi neighborhood in old Damascus, killing and critically injuring a number of civilians. Police say a man smuggled the explosive device in a plastic bag and detonated it in the middle of an ancient market. Insurgents have confirmed the number of dead, but claim the attack was caused by a mortar bomb. This while some unconfirmed reports say the bomber was wearing a suicide belt and blew himself up outside the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox church. A number of shops were also damaged in the blast, but the number of fatalities is likely to rise.

Outrage is growing worldwide over a video showing a Saudi Arabian man beating his foreign employee. The Asian worker received the beating for allegedly speaking to his employer\'s wife. You may find the following video disturbing. The Saudi man then starts to repeatedly whip the victim with his belt. The kingdom\'s Human Rights Commission has condemned the attack after receiving many complaints. The incident is not an isolated one. International rights groups have reported extensive abuse of migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. According to rights groups there are over nine million migrant workers in the kingdom.

Tel Aviv returns the remains of a young Palestinian woman who died during the second Intifada or uprising against the Israeli occupation 12 years ago. Palestinians in the West Bank town of Bethlehem were jubilant as an ambulance carrying the remains of Ayat al-Akhras arrived. The family is expected to bury the 18-year-old\\\'s remains on Monday. Akhras was killed in 2002 at the height of the second Palestinian Intifada. She died after she detonated an explosive belt in West Jerusalem al-Quds killing two Israelis. The remains of over 280 Palestinians killed in confrontations with Israeli forces are still held in Israel. Tel Aviv has agreed to return the remains of 36 Palestinians but has only released six bodies so far.

A number of opposition parties in Pakistan are putting pressure on the government to launch a military operation against the pro-Taliban militants and end over 12 years of insurgency. However, Islamabad has so far resorted to surgical strikes against the militants. Now, people from Pakistan\'s tribal belt are fleeing their homes in fear.
