Iranian presidential candidate Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel has underscored the importance of national unity and resistance as the keys to render ineffective the West\'s economic embargoes against Iran.
\"We should join hands and prove that, as we didn\'t bow to the enemy during the eight years of the [Iraqi-] imposed war, we won\'t give up in this economic war either, and we will manage our lives in a way that will turn these economic sanctions and economic threats into opportunities, God willing,\" Haddad-Adel said during a Thursday campaign speech in Tehran.
\"The latest plot that the enemies have hatched is the [imposition of] economic sanctions. They\'ve imposed sanctions on oil, on the Central Bank [of Iran], on money transactions, on marine transportation, on insurance. They did whatever they could to place the [Iranian] nation under economic pressure,\" Haddad-Adel added.

A United Nations human rights body has criticized the Tel Aviv regime for torturing Palestinian children, saying the Israeli military frequently uses them as human shields in its operations.
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child said on Thursday Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank and blockaded Gaza Strip are normally not allowed to have their birth registered, and are denied access to health care, decent schooling as well as safe drinking water. The UN report also stated that an estimated 7,000 Palestinian children aged 12 to 17, but some as young as nine, have been arrested, interrogated and detained over the past ten years.

Nearly a dozen Palestinians have been abducted by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank. A Palestinian journalist and a lawmaker are among those who were assaulted and then detained.
The latest Israeli raid also caused the death of a 19-year-old boy. Human rights groups say there has been a surge in violence by Israeli forces against Palestinian protesters and the Palestinian media recording Israel\'s violations.
Attacks are escalating against Palestinians with one brutal murder and over 11 arrests this week. Although the Israeli army state that the circumstances of these arrests are for legitimate reasons, they are rarely held accountable or made to show evidence for these crimes.

Israeli forces have arrested a Palestinian boy for allegedly throwing a stone at Israeli soldiers: the boy is only 5-years old. The incident happened in the city of Hebron or al-Khalil in the Occupied West Bank.
The Israeli army has said the boy had endangered passers-by. The detention a 5-year old innocent boy is not an isolated case involving the violation of Palestinian rights.
There is a long list of such violations including the siege on the Gaza Strip since 2007, arbitrary abduction and arrest of Palestinians; destruction of their homes to name just a few.
On this edition of the show we ask: Why the international community is inactive in the face of these violations? What would be the reaction of the US and the EU if a 5-year old has been arrested anywhere else other than Israel?

India is to settle its 1.53 billion dollars dues with Iran in Rupees. From now on, all the trade will only be done in Indian currency. Until February, 45 percent of the Indian oil import payments were made in Euros, with the money going through Turkish Halkbank. Since then Indian crude oil importers have held on to their payments. A Russian route to make payments in Ruble was explored however it did not work out. Finally the Rupee transactions are left as the only alternative.UCO Bank is the only Indian designated institute under the rupee-payment mechanism with Iran. It is backed by its tie-ups with five Iranian banks which worked on carrying out the process of settlements of dues in April last year.

The European Union has decided to bar all 28 member states from using any EU funds for projects in Israel\'s illegal settlements. Also beginning in 2014, all bilateral contracts must include a clause stating that East Jerusalem al-Quds, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Golan Heights are not a part of Israel. The directive will primarily affect research projects and financial grants. The declaration isn\'t a boycott of the colonies\' private sector, meaning the EU will continue to be Israel\'s number one trading partner, with some €30 billion in annual trade. But many are commending Brussels for finally introducing some accountability for the criminal theft of Palestinian land and resources. Analysts say that with the EU stuck in recession, Brussels is becoming more selective about their financial assistance for Israel. Europe is also fed up with funding Palestinian projects, only to see them destroyed by regular Israeli aggression.
