The Palestinian Authority has cancelled plans to submit a bid for the village of Battir to be listed on the UNESCO world heritage list one year after The Church of Nativity was voted on the list. The council of Battir submitted the bid to the Palestinian Authority which was accepted by Acting Chief of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas in January in time for the deadline of February. However a local Palestinian paper stated that the Palestinian Authority revealed in secret that they withheld the bid in order to broker a deal with Israel.

The Palestinian Authority has started a new campaign aimed at promoting international support for boycotting Israeli settlements. In a letter to fifty states including Persian Gulf countries, the PA urged them to clamp down on companies working with Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem al-Quds. Companies such as the French-owned Veolia and the British security company, G4S have been named in the letter. The Palestinian Authority also requested that those countries shut down all their operations in the settlements. Israeli settlements are illegal under international law, and the PA says providing services to them breaks the law. In recent months, a number of EU countries have also warned companies against entering the occupied Palestinian territories.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has hosted Palestinian Authority foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki in Moscow. They talked about strengthening of bilateral and economic ties between Russia and Palestine and also Russia\'s support for the talks between Palestinian Authority and Israeli officials.

Ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi rejects the authority of the court that is scheduled to try him next week. Morsi supporters say he has not employed any lawyer to defend him against charges of incitement to murder. Morsi and 14 others will be brought to trial on November fourth in connection with deadly clashes between his supporters and opponents outside the presidential palace in December 2012. Morsi came from the Muslim Brotherhood. He was Egypt\'s first freely elected leader and came to power in 2012, one year after dictator Hosni Mubarak was toppled. Morsi was then ousted himself by the junta amid massive protests against his year-long rule.

The European Union\'s envoy to the Middle East has warned Israel against the failure of the so-called peace talks with the Palestinian Authority. Andreas Reinicke says support in Europe for sanctioning Israel over its settlement policies is growing and could intensify IF the talks with Palestinians fail. Reinicke, who is leaving his post next week, said he has been in touch with US mediators. The campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel has been gaining momentum for some time. The EU envoy says over a dozen of states are now in support of the idea of labeling the Israeli goods from the occupied territories. This over Israeli violations - including its settlement expansions. Several academic bodies in the US have already decided to boycott Israeli academia over Tel Aviv\'s violation of international law.

The Energy authority in the Gaza strip say a shortage of fuel has halted the production of electricity across the blockaded coastal enclave. They say this is because the stock of fuel is zero. The situation results from Israel\\\'s destruction of tunnels used for bringing fuel into Gaza. The Energy authority also accused the Palestinian Authority of charging Hamas too much for its fuel.

The Israeli authority have proposed to make land swaps as part of the ongoing negotiations between the two sides. However, the Palestinian Authority have responded by stating that the land swaps would allow the Israeli\'s to continue to expand settlements in the West Bank ethnically cleansing 8% of the Palestinian population of Israel to the Palestinian Authority in an attempt to lower the Palestinian minority.

Acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas has once again warned against Israel\\\'s illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
