It has been over five weeks since Gaza\\\'s power plant stopped working. This has seriously affected all aspects of life in the tiny and impoverished coastal strip in many ways including water supply, sewage treatment and medical care. Amjad Shawa the director of Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) made an urgent appeal to the international community to help alleviate the suffering in the blockaded coastal territory.

Syria\'s war spillover affecting countries thousands of kilometers away: the US Federal Bureau of Investigation is sounding the alarm over radicalized homegrown militants. FBI Director James Comey says he\'s concerned about the militants inside the US who would be radicalized after returning from Syria. He says dozens of Americans have gone to Syria to fight alongside insurgents against the Syrian government. Comey has expressed concern that Syria has turned into a training ground for a new generation of terrorists. The American official has also acknowledged that it would be very hard to track such radicalized homegrown terrorists.

The raging conflict in Syria is affecting efforts to neutralize its chemical arsenal. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons says security challenges have slowed the transport of the Arab country\'s chemical weapons abroad for destruction. The OPCW says it\'s taking additional measures to complete its mission, and that Syria\'s chemical arms will be destroyed as planned by the end of June. Damascus agreed to hand over its chemical weapons to the body as part of a plan proposed by Russia to prevent a US attack on the country. Washington threatened airstrikes on Syria, following the August 21 chemical attack near the Syrian capital. The gas attack killed hundreds of people there. Both Damascus and Moscow say it was carried out by insurgents to provoke a Western invasion of Syria.

Pakistan"s annual monsoon rains have reached all five of the country"s provinces, affecting millions of people. The non-stop rain has caused river banks to burst, releasing torrents of water that has obliterated everything in its path. More than four million people are displaced and at least 1,600 people have been killed, a number that may rise as bodies are recovered from the rivers. Al Jazeera"s Imran Khan reports from Sukkur in Sindh province, which has been hit hard by the swollen waters of the Indus river.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has described the flood disaster in Pakistan as the \\\"most urgent\\\" issue of the Muslim world. Addressing crowds of worshippers at Tehran University after Eid al-Fitr prayers on Friday, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed deep sorrow over the catastrophic floods in Pakistan and the lingering humanitarian crisis it has brought to the country. Iran has so far sent more than 400 tons of humanitarian aid including tents, blankets, food and medicine to Pakistan, and has also announced its readiness to play an active role in the reconstruction of the country\\\'s flood-ravaged regions. Ayatollah Khamenei said the measures taken so far to relieve the disaster-hit Pakistanis was far from enough and appealed to all Muslims across the globe to help their brothers in Pakistan. \\\"The Iranian nation and government, other Muslim nations and governments, and Islamic societies including the Organization of the Islamic Conference and Muslims communities in any corner of the world [must] rush to help the Pakistani nation and government and meet the various needs of the flood victims in Pakistan,\\\" the Leader said. The international community has also pleaded for a boost in global relief efforts to help some 800,000 Pakistanis stranded in areas only accessible by air in the aftermath of the country\\\'s worst-ever natural disaster. The floods washed through one-fifth of Pakistan in August, leaving at least 1,760 people dead and affecting at least another 17 million. Ayatollah Khamenei further warned about efforts by some powers to take advantage of the political unrest and security gap in the violence-wracked country. \\\"Some are seeking to turn Pakistan into their military base,\\\" the Leader cautioned, expressing hope that Islamabad would resolve the predicament by fulfilling its obligations.

Egypt is tightening security measures along its borders with the Gaza Strip following massive unrest in the country. The new security measures are affecting the daily lives of many Gazans in the coastal enclave. Gaza has been suffering for several years from an Israeli blockade which has caused a lot of difficulty for the people living there. But now the new situation on the Egyptian border is making the economic situation in the coastal enclave much more difficult than before. Due to the tight Israeli blockade, Gaza depends on the tunnels to obtain essential supplies and cheaper fuel. Estimates show 40 percent of the coastal enclave\'s needs come via underground tunnels. Juz 18 of the Holy Qur\'an consists of three surahs, Surah al-Muminun, a Meccan surah, Surah Nur, a Medinan surah, and Surah al-Furqan, a Meccan surah. Surah al-Muminun and Surah Nur discuss the certain behaviours Allah (swt) expects us to have and those behaviours that He expects us to stay away from. Through these surahs we realize the importance that Allah (swt) places on how our actions affect those around us. When we do things, we should be mindful of how we are affecting others. The characteristics that He advises us to have include: being humble in our prayer, avoiding vain talk, paying zakat, guarding our private parts, keeping our trusts and promises, being careful over our prayers, not fault-finding, and not spreading rumours about others. This juz should cause us to really reflect on our actions and whether or not they positively or negatively affect others. Do we treat others the way Allah (swt) wants us to treat them?
