This is a ‘meccan’ surah. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) that the person who recites this surah in any of his prayers, will drink from the fountain of Kawthar. The reward for reciting this surah is compared to ten times the number of cattle slaughtered on Eid-ul-Adha every year until the Day of Resurrection. When the Holy Prophet\'s (saw) son, Tahir, born to Khadijah al Kubra, died, Amr bin As and Hakam bin Aas taunted the Holy Prophet (saw) by calling him “abtar” (tail-less), whose progeny has been cut off. This surah was revealed to give glad tidings to the Holy Prophet (saw) that abundance of unbounded grace, wisdom and knowledge, mercy and goodness, spiritual power and insight, in highest degrees, and of progeny has been given to him. It is mentioned in Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Musnad of Ahmad ibn Hambal and other books of renowned Sunni scholars that the Holy Prophet (saw) said: “Kawthar is a stream of super excellence, exclusively belonging to me. Only the righteous believers (among my followers) will be allowed to drink from it. Ali shall distribute the water from it to them. On the day of judgement I will see some of my companions driven, like cattle, away from Kawthar. It will be announced that they are those who, after my departure from the world, deviated from the true religion and introduced innovations (based upon conjecture) to corrupt the faith.” From that day Imam Ali (as) was known and referred to by the companions as “saqi al kawthar”. “Kawthar” also means abundance of descendants. The countless descendants of the Imams of the Ahlulbayt (as), in the progeny of Imam Ali (as) and Syeda Fatimah (sa) are known as sayyids. They are the descendants of the Holy Prophet (saw).

En el nombre de Dios el Compasivo, el Misericordioso Alabado sea Dios, el Señor de todos los mundos. Que la paz y su bendición sean con su supremo y fiel Mensajero, así como con los puros y elegidos de su familia y sus dignos acompañantes. La época del Hach, llena de misericordia y bendición, ha llegado y, una vez más, ha expuesto a los que han tenido la fortuna de presentarse a este celestial llamado, a la clemencia divina. Es aquí, donde el tiempo y el espacio les invitan a cada uno de ustedes, los peregrinos, al enaltecimiento espiritual y material. Aquí, el hombre y la mujer musulmanes, de corazón y de palabra, aceptan la invitación del gran Dios a la probidad y la redención. Aquí, todos tienen la oportunidad de practicar la fraternidad, la igualdad y la piedad. Aquí, se halla el gran taller de la educación y la formación, donde se exponen la unidad, la grandeza y la diversidad de la comunidad islámica, y el campo de batalla contra Satán y la tiranía. Dios, Sabio y Omnipotente, ha elegido este lugar para que los creyentes puedan ser testigos de sus propios intereses. Cuando abramos los ojos de la sabiduría y la prudencia, esta promesa divina abarcará toda la extensión de nuestra vida individual y social. El carácter del ritual del Hach es la combinación del mundo material con el eterno y la unión del individuo con la sociedad. La Kaaba, sencilla y gloriosa; cuerpos y corazones dando vueltas en torno a un eje firme y perpetuo, el esfuerzo continuo y ordenado entre un principio y un fin, la masiva migración a los terrenos de resurrección de Arafat y Mashar; el ambiente que da frescura y alegría a los corazones en este gran día de resurección; la afluencia de la gente para luchar contra los símbolos de Satán y, entonces, una armoniosa corriente de personas, de todas partes, de todos los colores y razas, a través de esta simbólica ceremonia henchida de espiritualidad y signos de orientación... son las únicas características de este ritual sagrado lleno de significación y contenido. Tales son los ritos que infunden en los corazones el recuerdo de Dios. Alegran la soledad del corazón humano con las luces de la piedad y la fe, liberan al individuo de los confines del egoísmo y le sumergen en la colectividad diversa de la comunidad islámica. Le envuelven en un manto de piedad, que protegerá su alma de las venenosas flechas del pecado, y le otorgan un espíritu combativo contra los demonios y las tiranías. Es aquí donde el peregrino del Hach ve con sus propios ojos un ejemplo de la amplitud de la comunidad islámica y percibe su capacidad y energía; además, encuentra esperanza en el futuro, siente dentro de sí la disposición a asumir un papel activo, y en caso de que la asistencia divina lo permita, renueva su lealtad al glorioso Mensajero, reafirmando su alianza con el querido y poderoso Islam, y forma en sus adentros la firme decisión de trabajar para auto-enmendarse y enmendar a la Umma y también exaltar los ideales islámicos. Estos dos, es decir, la autocorrección y la corrección de la Umma, son dos deberes interminables, cuyos recursos no son difíciles de descubrir para quienes estudian profundamente las obligaciones religiosas y emplean la sabiduría y la sagacidad. La corrección de uno mismo comienza con la lucha en contra de los deseos pecaminosos y el esfuerzo por alejarse del pecado. La corrección de la Umma comienza con la identificación del enemigo, la comprensión de sus planes, y la lucha para hacer fracasar sus golpes, conspiraciones y perversidad; acto que se realiza con la unidad de los corazones, las manos y la palabra de cada musulmán y de las naciones islámicas. En la actualidad, una de las cuestiones más cruciales del mundo islámico, que está vinculada con el destino de la comunidad musulmana, son los acontecimientos revolucionarios que están teniendo lugar en el norte de África y en la región. Estos hechos han dado lugar a la caída de varios regímenes corruptos serviles a los Estados Unidos y cómplices del sionismo, y han estremecido a otros similares. Si los musulmanes dejan escapar esta gran oportunidad, sin usarla para enmendar a la Umma, sufrirán grandes pérdidas. Hoy, las potencias agresivas e intervencionistas están haciendo todo lo posible por desviar el curso de estos importantes movimientos islámicos............
