Georgia is considered one of the closest US allies, but it is also a country having visa free travel rules and friendly relations with Iran. Farhad Shademan is one of Iranian nationals, who came to visit Georgia three years ago and decided to stay here. The reason behind his decision was a low living cost compared to other countries and opportunities to start a business with a little money. Since then, he has run a small cafe in the center of Tbilisi. An increase in number of Iranian businesses recently opened in Georgia, has raised US suspicions over the matter. Foreign-backed insurgents in Syria are increasingly using kidnapping as a means to fund their activities in the northern city of Aleppo. Militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have been named as the main culprits in insurgent-controlled areas. A London-based opposition group says that 80-percent of kidnappings target activists and journalists. Only this week, two Swedish journalists were abducted by insurgents. The missing are a combination of foreign and Syrian journalists. 30 journalists are currently being held and 52 have been killed in the country since early 2011.

Israel\\\'s espionage activities have increasingly become a concern for Lebanon. Beirut is now calling for equipment to block Tel Aviv\\\'s intelligence gatherings. Reports say Lebanese lawmakers as well as foreign, defense and communication ministers will meet with ambassadors of five permanent members of the UN Security Council next week. The European Union\\\'s high representative in Lebanon will also attend the meeting. Lebanese officials are expected ask European countries to sell Beirut anti-spying equipment that it needs to counter Israel\\\'s intelligence activities. Tel Aviv has increased its espionage by installing eaves-dropping stations across Lebanon\\\'s southern border. Beirut says Tel Aviv\\\'s spying activities have negatively affected not only Lebanon but also UN peace-keeping forces.

A federal judge in the United States has ruled that the spying activities of the government on the country\\\'s citizens are legal. New York District Judge William Pauley made the ruling in response to a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union against the National Security Agency. Judge Pauley says the NSA\\\'s phone tapping activities are valuable tools to counter what he called threats of terrorism. He also said the mass collection of phone data increases the agency\\\'s capabilities to protect US citizens. The comments come just a week after another federal judge ruled that the surveillance was unconstitutional. Washington DC federal judge Richard Leon said the phone-tapping program violates the Constitution\\\'s ban on unreasonable search.

Newly leaked classified documents have revealed more about the spying activities of the US National Security Agency and its British counterpart, the GCHQ. The latest revelations by whistleblower Edward Snowden show that the NSA and GCHQ have relied on data scooped up from the so-called leaky smartphone applications. according to a document published by The New York Times and The Guardian, the two intelligence agencies have been using applications such as Angry Birds games and Google Maps to collect swaths of personal data about users\' age, daily whereabouts, address books, and much more. It also exposed the fact that the mobile app initiative between the two spy agencies has been up and running since 2007. Previous reports have revealed the extent of the US and British governments\' mobile data collection, which has a global reach.
