Thousands of people have staged a rally in the streets of the Jordanian capital Amman to protest against a planned visit by the US Secretary of State. The protesters also expressed anger at the so-called peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The protesters came from Arab nationalist groups and Jordanian tribes. They chanted anti-US slogans and called on Palestinian groups to reject the so-called peace process. They demanded Jordan\'s king Abdullah to annul the 1994 peace treaty between Israel and Jordan. The protest comes as the US Secretary of State has been trying to push Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas to accept a deal over occupied territories.

The US has once again backed the Bahraini regime -- despite international criticism over Manama's continuing human rights violations.

The terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) has reportedly played a major role in intensifying the recent wave of street violence in Iran. Iranian security officials reported Saturday that they have identified and arrested a large number of MKO members who were involved in recent riots in Iran's capital. According to the security officials, the arrested members had confessed that they were extensively trained in Iraq's camp Ashraf to create post-election mayhem in the country. They had also revealed that they have been given directions by the MKO command post in Britain. Street protests broke out after defeated presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi rejected President Ahmadinejad's decisive win in the June 12 election. His supporters have staged a series of illegal rallies ever since. Iran's deputy police commander, on Saturday, warned against the mass gatherings, asserting that those who engage in any such actions would be severely reprimanded. Earlier on Saturday, MKO leader Maryam Rajavi had supported the recent wave of street violence in Iran during a Saturday address to supporters in Paris. Rajavi had reportedly described the MKO terrorists as the real winners of the Iranian election. The Mujahedin Khalq Organization is a Marxist guerilla group, which was founded in the 1960s.In the past two decades, MKO leaders have been resettled in the northern outskirts of Paris. The terrorists are especially notorious for taking sides with former dictator Saddam Hussein during the war Iraq imposed on Iran (1980-1988). The group masterminded a slew of terrorist operations in Iran and Iraq -- one of which was the 1981 bombing of the offices of the Islamic Republic Party, in which more than 72 Iranian officials were killed. A 2007 German intelligence report from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has identified the MKO as a "repressive, sect-like and Stalinist authoritarian organization which centers around the personality cult of [MKO leaders] Maryam and Masoud Rajavi". Anne Singleton, an expert on the MKO and author of 'Saddam's Private Army' explains that the West aims to keep the group afloat in order to use it in efforts to stage a regime change in Iran. "With a new Administration in the White House a pre-emptive strike on Iran looks unlikely. Instead the MKO's backers have put together a coalition of small irritant groups, the known minority and separatist groups, along with the MKO. These groups will be garrisoned around the border with Iran and their task is to launch terrorist attacks into Iran over the next few years to keep the fire hot," she explains. "The role of the MKO is to train and manage these groups using the expertise they acquired from Saddam's Republican Guard," Singleton added. A May 2005 Human Rights Watch report also condemns the MKO for running prison camps in Iraq and committing human rights violations. According to report, the outlawed group puts defectors under torture and jail terms.

US Secretary of State John Kerry has called on the Syria\\\'s divided foreign-backed opposition to join the upcoming peace conference in Geneva. Kerry says the purpose of the Geneva Two conference is to find a way to install a transitional government. The US secretary of state says the opposition can veto any names for an interim leadership, including President Bashar al-Assad\\\'s. Kerry also says that the talks in Geneva are the only way to end the bloody conflict in Syria. The deeply divided foreign-backed opposition will vote Friday on whether to attend the peace talks which are scheduled for next week.

Vitaly Churkin said that the claims that the Syrian government carried out the chemical weapons attacks are not persuasive. He added that Moscow views last August\'s deadly sarin gas attack outside Damascus as a provocation by the militants. The remarks came after a closed-door meeting on a UN investigation into the chemical weapons attacks in Syria. At the meeting, Russia and Western nations remained at loggerheads over who is to blame for the attacks. But UN experts recently said they have credible information that chemical weapons were used against the Syrian army and civilians. However, the U-N report has not determined whether the Syrian government or foreign-backed insurgents were responsible for the attacks.

The US State Department says the UN must take back its invitation unless Tehran publicly backs the 2012 agreement on a transition government in Syria. Similar clashes took place in the northeastern village of Sitra. Bahrain has been rocked by anti-government protests for more than a year now. Manama, with the direct backing of Saudi Arabia, has cracked down on the protests with all possible means. The U-S and Britain have suspended military assistance to the so-called Free Syrian Army in northern Syria after al-Qaeda-linked insurgents seized the weapons depots belonging to the F-S-A there. The so-called Islamic Front, which is an umbrella group of al-Qaeda-affiliated rings, captured the arms depots of the Western-backed Free Syrian Army. The seizure near the Bab el-Hawa border crossing with Turkey came after the Islamic Front, which is backed by regional allies of the U-S, announced that it rejected the authority of the F-S-A command. The militant group was formed just last month when six insurgent groups merged together to try and create a new Islamic Emirate in the crisis-hit Arab country.

As the Syrian army makes more advances against foreign-backed terrorist groups, the United States and its Western allies are seeking to establish closer ties with the al-Qaeda-linked groups in order to shift the balance of power in favor of the insurgents. The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned the recent abduction of three UN peacekeepers by anti-Syria militants in the Israeli occupied Golan Heights. The UN said Thursday that the foreign-backed militants had seized the three peace observers in the occupied Syrian territories early on May 15, which was the third such an incident within two months. In March, 21 Philippine UN peacekeepers were abducted for five days by militants in Syria. Four more were also seized by the militants earlier this month and released on May 12. The Syrian foreign minister says the Geneva two conference had no tangible results because of the foreign-backed opposition\'s quote immaturity. Speaking on the last day of the talks on Syria, Muallem said the government delegation had agreed to discuss everything but the opposition refused to address the issue of terrorism and threatened to derail the talks. Earlier in the day, Syrian information minister Omran al-Zoubi said the opposition delegation will not win concessions from Damascus in any future talks. Security forces on Friday fired teargas and sound grenades at the demonstrating crowds in several towns and villages around the Bahraini capital, Manama. Clashes then erupted between government forces and the pro-democracy protesters demanding the ouster of the Al Khalifa regime. Several people were injured during the demonstrations. The protesters also voiced their anger at the US government for its support of the Manama regime. Anti-American sentiments are high in Bahrain after Washington announced earlier this month that it would resume arms sales to Bahrain. However, Bahraini opposition groups and activists condemned the decision, saying it could encourage further human rights violations in the Persian Gulf country.
