Another U-S group joins two other scholarly organizations in boycotting Israel\'s academic institutions. The Native American and Indigenous Studies Association-- NAISA-- has urged its members to boycott Israeli academia, over Tel Aviv\'s violation of international law and U-N resolutions. The organization\'s president says the NAISA council has reached a consensus to support the boycott. This just days after the American Studies Association endorsed the boycott in a referendum. The Association for Asian American Studies had made the same decision in April. NAISA is now the third academic association to support the boycott. Israeli officials say they\'re concerned other academic groups could also take similar actions.

The American Studies Association says it will go ahead with its decision to boycott Israel. The incoming president of the association says she will fully support the boycott against Israeli academics over Tel Aviv\\\'s conflict with Palestinians. The move was launched last month by the five-thousand-member association. The American Studies Association says Israeli institutions that aid and support the illegal occupation are to be boycotted over the discriminatory treatment of Palestinians. Meanwhile, two New York politicians have introduced a legislation to pull state funding from any public college that boycotts Israel.

The American Studies Association has endorsed a boycott of Israeli academic institutions over violation of international law and UN resolutions. In an election that attracted more than 12-hundred voters, 66 percent said yes to the boycott. The resolution is in solidarity with Palestinian scholars and students deprived of their academic freedom. The ASA cites the documented impact of the Israeli occupation on Palestinian scholars and students for the boycott. The organization also says Israeli institutions of higher education are a party to Tel Aviv\'s policies that violate human rights in occupied Palestinian lands.

Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr was born in al-Kazimiya, Iraq to the prominent Sadr family, which originated from Jabal Amel in Lebanon. He was a child prodigy who, at the age of 10, was delivering lectures on Islamic history. At the age of eleven, he was a student of logic. He wrote a book refuting materialistic philosophy when he was 24. Shaheed Sadr completed his religious studies at religious seminaries under Ayatollah al-Khoei and Muhsin al-Hakim, and began teaching at the age of 25. Shaheed Sadr and his sister, Amina Sadr bint al-Huda, were in the end imprisoned and tortured to death by the American dog Saddam and the Ba\'ath party in Iraq. The accusation was that they were working towards an Islamic Revolution in Iraq. The Leader of the Muslim Ummah, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei commemorates their martyrdom in Arabic language and asks some serious questions, such as, why did the so-called human-rights organizations not raise any voice in support of this Shia scholar? Perhaps it was because of their grudge towards the Islamic Revolution, whether it was to be in Iran or in Iraq.

Whenever he or she comes home from school or the father enters the house, the parents ask about the child’s studies and immediately tell him/her to study. They immediately blame him/her, “Why didn’t you study? Why aren’t you studying now? Why are you playing now?” They immediately ask about the children’s grades and blame them if their grades are low. They immediately compare them with others. If parents do these things, it’s because of their compassion. But in doing this, they make their children hate studying. Plus, the children will start hating themselves too. If immediately after returning home from school every day, or immediately after the father comes home every day, a child is questioned, preached to and punished, this isn’t useful. Why do you do this? It will get worse. A child will become fed up. Why? Because some ideas will become formed in his mind. [He’ll think,] “Father means punishment if you don’t study.” Having this idea about his father is not good, and the child will become distanced from him. And yet, the reason behind these behaviors is that the parents are worried about their children and love them. They don’t care about other people’s studies and don’t direct others like this. They don’t care if others become wretched or become prosperous. The parents are worried about you, their child. This is the reason for their behavior, but this reason isn’t seen. What is seen? The bitterness of ordering, preaching, blaming, and checking up on them. Dear parents, even when your child returns home after an exam, exams that are held occasionally, don’t ask them about it immediately. Say, “How was the weather? Did you play after your test?” Wait one or two hours, then ask, “By the way, how was your test?” so that they won’t feel stressed. Why am I saying this? Your child shouldn’t think you are just judging, checking, blaming and punishing him. So when parents want to train their child, they must be careful of the bitter feelings that may be created. Training needs an introduction, should be occasional and must be done using different ways so as not to create negative feelings. If parents are constantly preaching, checking, blaming and asking about the child’s studies, he will start hating his parents and also hate his studies. He will also think negatively about the home, and the home environment will be irritating for him.

Soharwardy was born in a very highly respected religious family in Karachi, Pakistan. His father and Murshad (spiritual guide), Allama Syed Muhammad Riazuddin Soharwardy (May Allah shower His blessings upon him) was a great Islamic scholar and the Imam of a famous mosque in Karachi, Jamia Bughdadi Masjid, Martin Road, Karachi, where he established Dar-ul-Aloom Soharwardia. Syed B. Soharwardy's grandfather, Allama Syed Muhammad Jalaluddin Chishty (May Allah shower His blessings upon him) was the Grand Mufti of Kashmir (Baramula). Allama Jalaluddin Chishty later migrated to Amritser (India) where he served as the head of Dar-ul-Aloom Nizamiah Sirajiah and Imam of the Mosque. Imam Soharwardy received his early Islamic education from his father in the traditional Islamic Madrasah at Bughdadi Masjid. Later, he graduated from Dar-ul-Aloom Soharwardia, Karachi. Mr. Soharwardy also earned Bachelor of Arts degree in Islamic Studies from University of Karachi. Beside his Islamic education, Mr. Soharwardy earned Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from N.E.D. University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, Master of Science in Management Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ, USA and Master of Engineering in Project Management from University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada. He is a certified Project Manager from Project Management Institute, USA Syed Soharwardy was appointed as a teacher at Dar-ul-Aloom Soharwardia where he taught various subjects of Islamic studies. Later, he also served as an assistant Imam and Kahteeb at Jamia Bughdadi Masjid, Martin Road (1971- 1979). Syed Soharwardy has lectured in Pakistan, USA and Saudi Arabia at various universities and institutes for over 12 years. Prof. Soharwardy is the founder of Muslims Against Terrorism. He founded this organization in January 1999. He is also the founder and the national president of Islamic Supreme Council of Canada. He has authored several papers on Technology issues, Information Technology Management, Islamic beliefs, Challenges for Muslims in western world, conflicts within the Muslim community, Intra and Inter religion conflicts. Mr. Soharwardy has addressed hundreds of gatherings in Pakistan, USA, UK and Canada on various topics of Islamic faith. He is the head of the first ever Dar-ul-Aloom in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he teaches Islamic studies. Prof. Soharwardy lectures in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Mississauga, Brampton, Richmond Hill, Markham, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver on monthly basis. Mr. Soharwardy is a strong advocate of Islamic Tasawuf and believes that the world will be a better place for everyone, if we follow what Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (Peace be upon him) has said, " You will not have faith unless you like for others what you like for yourself."
