Meeting in the Turkish seaside resort of Bodrum under the auspices of the UJN the scholars, who represent all of Pakistan\\\'s major Islamic sects and tendencies, agreed to come together to tackle religious intolerance in the interests of Muslim unity. The signatories include Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza of the Sunni Ittehad Council, Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza of Jamiat Ahle Hadith and Allama Syed Niaz Hussain Shah of Hoza Ilmia Jamia Al Muntazar. The 11-point UJN Pakistan Unity Declaration commits the signatories and the UJN to sign statements in the upcoming Islamic month of Muharram denouncing the killing of fellow human beings on the basis of colour, creed, ethnicity or religion as haram. The statements will also declare excommunication or takfir against fellow Muslims and abusing the Prophet Muhammad\\\'s family and companions as against the Shariah. Also party to the accord were Allama Mohammad Sadiq Qureshi (Minhaj ul Quran International), Maulana Syed Ali Murtaza Zaidi (Jamay Imamia), Liaqat Baloch, MP (Jamaat-e-Islami) and Muhammad Sarwat Ejaz Qadri (Pakistan Sunni Tahreek). The accord is based on Charter 3:103, initiated by the Islamic Human Rights Commission in 1997 and now a UJN core project, and since adopted by scores of Muslim organisations, which calls for Muslims to be united in accordance with the 103rd verse of the third chapter of the Holy Quran. It also addresses the challenging problem of madrasas in Pakistan, believed to be a breeding ground of intolerance, recommending that syllabuses and curriculums under the signatories\\\' respective spheres of influence address the need for respect, harmony and peace between all members of Pakistani society. Chair of IHRC, and UJN co-ordinator, Massoud Shadjareh said: \\\"The signing of the declaration is a detrmined step out of the quagmire of murder and fear that has come to characterise the landscape in Pakistan. 26 Palestinian prisoners who were imprisoned prior to the signing of the so-called Oslo Peace accord were released late Tuesday night.Only five of them are from the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of people mainly family members waited to welcome them as they were making their way through the Israeli controlled Erez crossing in northern Gaza.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai says he\'s willing to delay the signing of a deal with the US, known as the Bilateral Security Agreement, or BSA. Karzai told Afghanistan\'s assembly of elders, called Loya Jirga, that the deal will not be signed by the president until after next year\'s presidential election. This, as the Jirga has met today to discuss the BSA. Under the pact, American troops would be allowed to remain in Afghanistan beyond a 2014 deadline. Kabul has agreed to US military operations under special circumstances and American troops\' immunity from prosecution in Afghanistan. But, ordinary Afghans are angry over raids by American and other foreign troops. And they have held protests against the security deal with the US.

The United States is said to be backing away from a December 31 deadline for signing the controversial security deal with Afghanistan. American and Afghan officials say the Obama administration is going to wait in order to strike the deal that will allow it to keep its troops in Afghanistan beyond the 2014 withdrawal deadline. The decision, however, is being viewed as an embarrassing turn following weeks of threats by US officials that a complete withdrawal is possible if President Hamid Karzai refuses to sign the pact. The Afghan president came under additional pressure after NATO chief urged him to sign the deal with the US or there will be no agreement with the military alliance either. Qatar and Israel have common viewpoints regarding Iran's nuclear program. Doha has repeatedly supported Tel Aviv against Iran. Qatar would also be able to assist Israel in the event of a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities. In May 2012, Obama and Karzai signed a security pact that authorized the presence of US troops for a period of 10 years after 2014, which was the original date agreed earlier for the departure of all foreign combat troops from Afghanistan. Washington is also after signing a security deal with Kabul that will give foreign forces in Afghanistan immunity from prosecution among other terms. Meanwhile, on May 9 this year, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said Washington had demanded to keep several military bases across Afghanistan. The pretext of the US and its allies for their presence in Afghanistan is to establish security in the region. But now after more than a decade of US invasion, Afghans still say the foreign presence has led to more insecurity in the region.

Hundreds of Afghan people including students, have held demonstrations in the eastern province of Nangarhar against a possible security pact with the US. The protesters chanted anti-US slogans and blocked a key road between Kabul and the city of Jalalabad. They warned the Afghan elders and politicians against signing the deal, saying they do not represent the Afghan people. Afghanistan\'s grand assembly or Loya Jirga is slated to hold discussions on the controversial deal on Thursday. Meanwhile, scores of people gathered for a meeting in Kabul to voice their opposition to any deal that will prolong the US military presence in their country.

Heated talks continue between Iran and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany over Tehran\\\'s nuclear program. Iran\\\'s Foreign Minister Mohammad Havad Zarif, who\\\'s heading the Iranian delegation, has met with EU\\\'s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on the second day of a new round of negotiations in Geneva. Ashton represents the so-called P5+1 group. Her spokesman Michael Mann says the latest talks were \\\"very substantial and detailed\\\". Zarif has echoed the same remarks, saying discussions have already delved into content and details. However, he added that differences remain between the two sides. Both sides are working to finalize a draft agreement to resolve the standoff over Tehran\\\'s nuclear program. This, as an Iranian deputy foreign minister says any agreement on the horizon is bound to respect Iran\\\'s right to enrichment.
