The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran says Tehran has built a new generation of centrifuges for uranium enrichment.
Ali Akbar Salehi says Iran has built two kinds of second generation centrifuges with capacity twice as the ones before. He says the second-generation centrifuges have been installed but under the Geneva deal, Iran will not inject gas into them for six months. He also says if Iran needs 20 percent enriched uranium for its nuclear facilities, the country has the right to enrich it. Salehi confirmed that Tehran has negotiated the construction of four new nuclear facilities with Moscow. Under an interim nuclear deal reached in Geneva in November, Iran has agreed not to bring new centrifuges into operation for six months. But the deal does not stop it from developing centrifuges.

Iran says the West must avoid adventurism over its nuclear energy program.
Ali Akbar Salehi, the director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, has stated that the West\'s efforts to undermine the nuclear deal reached in Geneva last November would be self-defeating. Salehi has criticized US officials\' recent remarks about Iran\'s nuclear program. He says such remarks violate the terms of the Geneva deal signed by Iran and the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany. Salehi added that any adventurism targeting Iran would only boomerang on the West and Iran would lose nothing.

Iran wants IAEA to inspect Israel
Iran's nuclear point man says Tehran expects the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to "follow up" on a resolution to inspect Israel's nuclear facilities.
Last year, the General Conference agreed on a resolution requiring Israel to open up for IAEA inspection.
"This year we hope... that they would follow up on this, that the Zionist regime [of Israel] will open its nuclear sites to inspection by the IAEA and ... that the IAEA will also pursue this issue very firmly," Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi told Press TV.
Salehi said that Western countries were mounting pressure to prevent the IAEA from taking action. He expressed hope that the agency would carry out its obligation without taking sides.
Given that Israel is the sole possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, putting pressure on Tel Aviv is the least the IAEA can do, the AEOI head added.
Salehi's remarks comes as Arab member states of the IAEA plan to present a resolution to the body in the annual General Conference next week, urging Israel to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Western countries, spearhead by the US, are urging the Arab members of the IAEA to drop the request.
US State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said Wednesday that the IAEA was not the place to discuss Israel's membership in the NPT.
"Israel has fully cooperated with the IAEA," and "we believe there is really no basis for a debate at the IAEA," Philip Crowley said.

Iran to unveil new submarines, frigates
Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Ataollah Salehi says the country will soon unveil new generations of destroyers, frigates and submarines.
Iran will soon unveil and launch the second generation of Jamaran destroyers, Sina class frigates as well as a new generation of submarines, Salehi said Wednesday.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony commemorating the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran.
Salehi warned against any act of aggression on the country's territory and said Iran could repel any attack due to its deterrent powers.
"The enemy should beware that if our country is attacked we will not allow them to leave the region safely," the Iranian commander added.
Jamaran -- a multi-purpose warship that blends anti-submarine capabilities with defense systems against surface and air attacks -- became operational earlier this year.
Iran has so far launched different classes of advanced submarines including Qaem, Nahang and Ghadir.

[08 Aug 2012] Kidnapping Iranian pilgrims crime against humanity - English
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has called on the United Nations to act immediately to secure the release of the Iranian nationals abducted in Syria and Libya.
"The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for the immediate release of its abducted nationals and is of the view that using the hostages as human shields violates... international law and (the) human rights of these innocent civilians," Salehi said in a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday.
"I would like to seek the cooperation and the good offices of Your Excellency for securing the release of these hostages," he added.
A UN spokesman confirmed that the letter had been received but did not offer an immediate response.
On August 4, 48 Iranians, who were traveling on a bus from Damascus International Airport to the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (AS) on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, were abducted by insurgents. Three of the abductees have reportedly been killed. Insurgents from the self-proclaimed Free Syrian Army have threatened to kill the other abductees.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Mohsen Saleh, professor at the Lebanese University, to further discuss the issue.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has rejected as baseless any report on the slowdown of some parts of the country\'s nuclear program.
Ali Akbar Salehi noted that Iran\'s nuclear program is going on at full throttle. He went on to say that despite western media claims, the recent deal between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Councils is not aimed at stopping Iran\'s enrichment program. Salehi said Tehran is conducting researches on different generations of centrifuges with the full knowledge of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He also warned the P5+1 group against misinterpreting Tehran\'s good will in the nuclear talks.
