Egypt\'s security forces have killed a journalist in the city of Port Said who was a supporter of ousted president Mohammad Morsi.

From presstv - A political analyst says the Syrian government has the legal right to target the US military and intelligence drones operating over Syria, Press TV reports. “Syria has the right to use military capability to disturb this mission and even to attack those aircraft,” said Hisham Jaber, the director of Center for Middle East Studies in an interview with Press TV on Saturday. He made the comment after NBC News claimed earlier that the US military has dispatched a “good number” of unmanned drones for operations in Syrian airspace to monitor “the Syrian military attacks against opposition forces and civilians.” “They [the Syrian government] can sue them [the US] before the international court,” Jaber added. Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Hundreds of people, including many Syrian security forces, have been killed in the course of the turmoil. Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad. Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin earlier said any proposals including an arms embargo or a demand for Assads resignation would be vetoed. Following his meeting with the U-S secretary of state, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said a deal with Iran would be QUOTE a very bad deal. Without mentioning any names, the Israeli prime minister said some regional countries have the same view as Israel about the Geneva nuclear talks. In response to Netanyahu, a White House spokesman said it is premature to criticize a deal since no agreement with Iran has been made yet. U-S President Barack Obama telephoned Netanyahu to discuss the Geneva talks on Iran\'s nuclear program. The White House says the president gave the Israeli prime minister an update on the nuclear negotiations.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has said that the bomb blasts targeting the Iranian Embassy in Beirut were carried out by militants linked to al-Qaeda. Nabih Berri offered his condolences to the Iranian nation and noted that all Lebanese groups have condemned the terror attack. In regard to Iran\'s nuclear deal with the P-five-plus-one, Berri said that Tehran achieved a nuclear victory through prudence. He made the remarks in a joint press conference with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in Tehran. Larijani said he had discussed bilateral ties and sensitive regional developments with his Lebanese counterpart. He also stressed that Iran can establish strong relations in the region.

Khan Sa\'id has been chosen as the new leader of pro-Taliban militants in Pakistan. The militants\' number-two commander was promoted to the group\'s leader after former chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, was killed in a US drone strike on Friday. Security officials say Sa\'id was chosen as the new commander at a meeting of the supreme ruling council. However, some commanders are reportedly unhappy with the decision and want more talks. In Syria, at least 25 people have died in air raids in Aleppo. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says 14 children are among the dead. The Britain-based observatory group said the aerial attack using explosives-laden barrels occurred over the Sakhur, Ard al-Hamra and Heydariyeh districts in eastern Aleppo. The Syrian government has not commented on the incident yet.

An Egyptian opposition coalition-- led by the Muslim Brotherhood-- has said in a statement that it will boycott an upcoming referendum on the new constitution. The so-called National Alliance Supporting Legitimacy cited political and legal reasons to boycott the referendum scheduled for January 2014. The coalition also says it will use peaceful methods to persuade Egyptians to join the boycott. The new constitution was amended by the military-backed interim government which came to power after former president Mohamed Morsi was ousted by the army. The interim authorities have launched a massive crackdown on Morsi\'s supporters. The former president has called for demonstrations during the referendum.

Terrorist attacks continue to kill people in Syria. The International Committee of the Red Cross has said in a report that the conflict has left half a million people wounded. The recent defeats suffered by foreign-backed insurgents have apparently prompted their western supporters to try and end the deadlock in syria through diplomacy. The United States is said to be backing away from a December 31 deadline for signing the controversial security deal with Afghanistan. American and Afghan officials say the Obama administration is going to wait in order to strike the deal that will allow it to keep its troops in Afghanistan beyond the 2014 withdrawal deadline. The decision, however, is being viewed as an embarrassing turn following weeks of threats by US officials that a complete withdrawal is possible if President Hamid Karzai refuses to sign the pact. The Afghan president came under additional pressure after NATO chief urged him to sign the deal with the US or there will be no agreement with the military alliance either. Karzai has warned that he will not allow continued foreign presence if it means more bombs and civilian killings.
