Iran\'s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has called the West\'s sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program QUOTE totally illegal and illegitimate. In an address to Iranian lawmakers, Zarif also touched on the recent nuclear deal signed between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in Geneva. He noted that the content of the deal does NOT mean that Iran recognized the sanctions. After Zarif\'s address, several parliament members took the podium and talked about the details of the deal. The MPs defended the deal in general but some criticized it, expressing concerns about the West\'s sincerity to resolve the disputes over Iran\'s nuclear program.

French auto giants Renault-Nissan and Peugeot-Citro-en are planning to return to Iran\'s market in light of the easing of anti-Iran sanctions.
Reports say Renault and Peugeot are gearing to reclaim their share of the huge Iranian market they lost after the implementation of anti-Iran sanctions in 20-11. Both companies are sending representatives to a crucial auto conference in Tehran that opens within hours. Their participation in the conference has been interpreted by the media as a sign to mark their early return to the Iranian market before other competitors. Renault and Peugeot have been production partners of Iran\'s domestic majors - Iran Khodro and SAIPA. Official data show the sanctions against Iran led to the unemployment of 100,000 workers and undermined the output of the two French giants.

On the 8th of December 2013 Iran\'s president Hassan Rouhani, submitted the budget draft for next Iranian fiscal year to parliament, a draft that reflects the new government\'s stance on the economy.
Hassan Rouhani has been Iran\'s president for a little more than five months. Back in June 2013 when presidential campaigning was going on, Iran\'s television network made it possible for candidates to offer the analysis of the country\'s current situation and make their case for fixing what needs fixing in other\'s presence.
And it was Hassan Rouhani who managed to win the people\'s votes with his staunch criticism of the previous administration\'s economic and foreign policies and his promise to make his government based on trust and wisdom and one that will cultivate hope.
He also vowed to turn the economy around, something he seems to have done in his first five months in office. The team he put together to make good on his economic policies, all seasoned economists and budget planners, has shown the nation that as well as talking the talk, Rouhani can also walk the walk.
Members of parliament have given the president\'s economic cabinet members the vote of confidence, even though the new administration must adhere to the economic policies of the previous one until March 2014 when Iran\'s fiscal year ends.
In this addition of the show we focus on the budget draft submitted to parliament, and what\'s been going on since it was drawn up.

Iran\'s Foreign Ministry has summoned the Swiss ambassador to Tehran in protest of the latest US sanctions.
The Swiss Embassy in Tehran officially represents US interests in the country. Iran\'s deputy foreign minister told the Swiss envoy that Washington\'s measure is not in the spirit of the Joint Plan of Action. That\'s the official name of a recent nuclear deal between Iran and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. Tehran\'s complaint comes after the US added a number of individuals and companies to its anti-Iran sanctions list. The Iranian official added that claims by the US Treasury\'s under-secretary about Iran\'s links with terrorism show the confusion of American authorities. He also described Iran as one of the world\'s main victims of terrorism.

Iran to unveil new submarines, frigates
Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Ataollah Salehi says the country will soon unveil new generations of destroyers, frigates and submarines.
Iran will soon unveil and launch the second generation of Jamaran destroyers, Sina class frigates as well as a new generation of submarines, Salehi said Wednesday.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony commemorating the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran.
Salehi warned against any act of aggression on the country's territory and said Iran could repel any attack due to its deterrent powers.
"The enemy should beware that if our country is attacked we will not allow them to leave the region safely," the Iranian commander added.
Jamaran -- a multi-purpose warship that blends anti-submarine capabilities with defense systems against surface and air attacks -- became operational earlier this year.
Iran has so far launched different classes of advanced submarines including Qaem, Nahang and Ghadir.

Iran may be working on a secret nuclear weapons program, some western countries claim. We are making peaceful use of nuclear energy as a committed member of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran insists. Since 20 years ago, Israel and the US have been talking about an imminent Iranian nuclear weapon. This, while the US National Intelligence Estimates since 2007 do not give credence to the allegations American leaders are making against Tehran.

[03 June 2012] Iran hosts international confab on Imam Khomeini - English
Thinkers and scholars from 60 world countries have taken part in the conference. Iran has hosted an international conference to discuss ethics and politics from the viewpoint of the late Imam Khomeini. The conference comes as Iran is preparing to mark the 23rd anniversary of the demise of late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini on June 3. Thinkers and scholars from different world countries have already arrived in Tehran to commemorate the occasion. Thinkers believe that the teachings of Imam Khomeini will continue to inspire Muslims around the world in the years to come. Imam Khomeini, who overthrew the Shah regime back in 1979 and established the Islamic Republic believed that the keys to the victory of the Islamic revolution were the faith in God, reliance on the people and unity in words and action. Imam Khomeini died on June 3, 1989.

[06 June 2012] 'P5+1 unwilling to resolve Iran N-issue' - English
While Iran and the P5+1 are getting ready to meet again in Moscow later this month, the Western side is ignoring Iran's request for preparatory talks to set the agenda ahead of the meeting.
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili has written a letter to the EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton about the issue. Jalili has warned that the P5+1's foot-dragging on holding a preparatory meeting raises doubts about its determination to have successful talks in Moscow.
The preparatory meeting was agreed in previous negotiations to set the agenda of the main meeting. Jalili's Deputy Ali Bagheri sent two letters to Ashton's deputy Helga Schmid in May and June regarding the preparatory meeting. Bagheri says the response he received fails to address the agenda-setting talks.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Mohammad Marandi, professor of University of Tehran, to further explore the issue.
