That effort, dubbed the freedom flotilla, with seven ships in total, was attacked in international waters by the Israeli military. Pakistanis have held a fresh protest rally in the port city of Karachi against the U-S assassination drone strikes in the country.

Armed men have bombed a major oil pipeline in northern Iraq. Officials say the blasts caused a fire and stopped the oil pumping from Salaheddin province to the Turkish port of Jeyhan. They also say that the fire is contained and repairing is underway. Pipelines in Iraq frequently come under attack by militants. The Arab country is heavily dependent on oil export and it aims to increase its production capacity.

Nearly a dozen people have been killed and many more injured in a fresh attack in Pakistan\'s port city of Karachi. Officials say an explosive-laden car hit a police bus transporting over 50 personnel. All of the victims are policemen. No group has claimed responsibility for the early morning attack. Pakistan has been hit by a wave of bombings and shootings in recent months. And Karachi has been one of the major targets with insurgent groups often trying to create ethnic violence in the city. Just days ago, several people were killed after a group of gunmen threw grenades and opened fire at a religious gathering there.

To defy Israel's four-year blockade of the impoverished Palestinian enclave, a Libyan aid ship departs for the Egyptian port of El-Arish en route to Gaza. The cargo ship Amalthea, which left the Greek port of Lavrio, southeast of Athens, late Saturday, is carrying 2,000 tons of food and medical supplies, including sacks of rice, sugar, corn oil and olive paste, intended for suffering Gazans. "We hope that the Israeli authorities would not ban the ship from entering the port of Gaza," said Youssef Sawani, Executive Director of the Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation. The foundation is chaired by the son of Libyan Leader, Muammar Gaddafi. "I think the Israelis need to understand that we are not provoking any kind of action, we are not in military action, we are a peaceful organization, a humanitarian organization," he said. Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas said he has discussed the ship's planned trip with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Friday. The ship has nine crew members — six Libyans, a Moroccan, a Nigerian and an Algerian. This latest attempt comes after Israeli commandos attacked the Freedom Flotilla aid convoy on May 31 in international waters, killing 9 Turkish activists. The Israeli assault sparked a worldwide condemnation and a row between Ankara and Tel Aviv. Turkey's Prime Minister demanded that Israel apologize for the deadly attack on the Turkish-owned ship Mavi Marmara, offer compensation to the victims, agree to an international investigation and end the blockade of Gaza. It also recalled its ambassador from Tel Aviv and cancelled military exercises with Israel. It has also twice denied Israel the use of its airspace. Israel has refused to apologize, claiming its commandos only used force to defend themselves after being ambushed.

Fishermen in Gaza have been constantly suffering under the Israeli blockade of Gaza and have paid a huge price for that . Fishermen along with representatives from fishing and human rights organizations, and Palestinian and international supporters organized a sit-in in tents under the name of \"Free Gaza Sea\" in the Gaza Sea Port to stand in solidarity with fishermen and call for their basic rights the Israeli occupation has taken away. The Ministry of Transport and Communications in Gaza has estimated that the losses of Gaza port stood at $300,000 in the last disastrous cold front. It had previously warned of the inefficient breakwater due to the Israeli prevention of entering cement to strengthen it Human rights organizations have repeatedly condemned Israel\'s massive violations against Palestinian fishermen.Fishermen in Gaza are urging human rights groups and international organizations to support them in their bid to free Gaza waters. This will let the fishermen enjoy their fundamental right to sail freely.

he month of May 2004 saw two suicide attacks on Shia mosques in the southern port city of Karachi in which more than 50 worshipers were killed. The first attack happened on May 7 at Haidery Mosque in Sindh Madaressa-tul-Islam in which 30 people lost their lives. The community was still in shock when three weeks later another suicide bomber hit Imam Ali Reza mosque. The death toll from this attack reached 26, including seven children under the age of 15

US intelligence agencies have been aware of a potential attack 'from the sea against hotels and business centers' in Indian port city of Mumbai. One US intelligence official said India had been told of an apparent plot to launch an attack from the sea, the AP agency reports. The official added specific locations, including the Taj hotel, were listed in the US warning. The reports came as India's navy chief said there had been 'systemic failures' in the country's security and intelligence services. Three days before militants landed in Mumbai to launch deadly attacks, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had warned the country's police chiefs that India could not afford another attack. Just the day before that, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who has since resigned, warned that India's coastline needed to be guarded better. But the attacks last week caught the Indian security services off-guard. The 10 gunmen who attacked a handful of prominent targets in Mumbai killed about 180 people.
