The Islamic Republic Day marks the day that the results of the March 1979 Iranian Islamic Republic referendum were announced where an overwhelming 98.2% of the nation voted for the establishment of an Islamic Republic in the state. During the Islamic Revolution struggle, a lot of people doubted if the movement led by Imam Khomeini (R) would be victorious. But our magnanimous Imam placed his trust in Allah – the Exalted – and persevered, and made the movement victorious along with the help of the nation. The 23rd Juz covers the last 55 verses of Surah Yaseen, Surah As-Saffat, Surah Saad and first 31 verses of Surah- Az-Zumar. This Juz reflects on the beauty, depth and sheer awe the Quran presents to a point that staunch enemies of Islam secretly listening were enamored by it. Over the span of two decades, verse by verse the people reflected and built a relationship with each sound of the Holy Quran. To become a Quranic society, we must question the role and status we give the Book of Truth on a daily basis. Leveling up our experience with the Quran is an essential tool to increase our mindfulness of Allah(swt). The Quran was sent down as a warning to never lose sight of our purpose. In what ways can we reflect on it everyday?

The 20th Juz consists of Surat an-Naml (last 37 verses, The Ant), Surat al-Qasas (88 verses, The Stories) and Surat al-Ankabut (first 45 verses The Spider). The discussion in these suras explore the barriers/veils that prevent one from allowing the Quranic guidance to permeate their hearts. God clearly states that only those who believe in God’s signs, are open-hearted and have submitted, even partially, to the truth will be able to perceive the guidance offered by the Quran. Those who insist on rejecting the truth, and are arrogant, will be like the ‘deaf or dead who can’t hear’ because they lack intellectual humility and intentionally don’t want to listen to the message of God. Suratul Qasas relates the story of Prophet Musa, and includes the story of Qarun, who despite his knowledge and wealth, lacked humility, believing he ‘deserved’ God’s blessings. Pharoah and Haman are also mentioned in the same vein, and their arrogance led them to punishment and destruction. The reference to the spider’s web, giving Sura Ankabut its name, describes how such people’s base is like the frailest of homes, that of a spider, while the hold of God is the strongest. The Juz ends with God’s promise that those who strive in God’s way, will attain guidance.

The 19th Juz consists of Surat al-Furqan (last 56 verses, The Criterion), Surat al-Shu’ara (227 verses, The poets) and Surat an-Naml (first 55 verses, The Ants) – all Meccan. The first two suras discuss the Quraish’s rejection of the Qur\'an, and their displeasure with the prophet. The root meaning of ‘Furqan’ is to split or fracture, and the Qur\'an is referred to as such because it differentiates/splits between good and evil. It provides the light in the darkness of our confusion, helping us to recognize the truth. Surat al Shu’ara further describes the incredible role the prophet has played in bringing to us this guidance, and how the people have still abandoned it. The Qur\'an is complete in its divinity, its greatness the very proof of truth, and as revealed in the next Surat an-Naml, the Qur\'an is from God, the all-wise, and is the most tangible thing we have from Him. Approaching the nights of Qadr, we should ask ourselves if we truly embrace the Qur\'an as our criterion and pray for the ability to build our relationship with it so we don’t get counted amongst those who abandoned it.

Maybe we couldn’t have said this eight months ago. We couldn’t have said it last year. But now, with the events that we are witnessing in the world in recent months and in the period that we are in, everyone agrees that we are at a turn in history, an expression used by the dear Leader of the Islamic Revolution. The last century can be called the century of the rise and fall of Western civilization. When I was a teenager, about fifty years ago, people used to say that we are at the end of the world. But this statement was retracted by the world\\\'s most prominent thinkers some time ago. Fukuyama said, “I was wrong when I said the end of history is liberal democracy. We don’t know where the end of history is because liberal democracy hasn’t been successful.” What do you predict for this coming century? What do you suggest for its name? I have a suggestion for the name of this century. The coming century is bringing a civilization that will replace Western civilization. It will be an alternative civilization to Western civilization, according to many thinkers. Of course, they say this quietly and don’t announce it frequently on TV. The alternative civilization will be the \\\"new Islamic civilization.\\\" The future civilization will be a \\\"Mahdavi [Imam Mahdi] civilization.\\\" Why am I saying this? Because no one in the world has any plans for the future! There is no thinker in the world to say that the future will be determined by socialism, or by liberal democracy, or to say the future will be determined by a certain lifestyle. Yes, in terms of technology, they say technology will advance a lot! Yes, it is said that the world’s governments will be saved from dictatorial rulers. Yes, everyone is saying that a new chaos is being created in the world. Everyone says these things. But can the United Nations ensure order in the world? No. The previous century was the century of the rise and fall of Western civilization. The next century is the century of the new Islamic civilization. It has been narrated from Imam Muhammad Baqir (as), “Our government will be the last government. Because after our government has been established, has succeeded and that great civilization ‘has been raised by God above all religions’ [Qur’an 61:9], no one will say, ‘If I had been in charge, I would have done that too.’” According to Imam Baqir (as), when that government is established no one will have anything else to say. A theoretical vacuum will have existed. There is no voice in the universe talking about the future of the world for us to evaluate it to see if it is right or wrong! No one in the world says that in the future everyone will go toward Marxism, or that everyone will go toward a certain religion. Except for us. We are the only ones talking about the future! For forty years, we have been answering in religious forums. We have answered doubts. We have answered false claims. There is no longer a false claim in the world for us to answer! No one even has a claim for the future. Only these minarets and mosques of yours talk about the future. Only you have hope for the future! This is a big celebration itself. And our community must be the one to explain the Mahdavi civilization. Every mosque, gathering, class or book that does not talk about the Mahdavi future of the world, has reduced its own value to nearly zero. Tell me about the future! 1- Feel the resemblance between the “Night of Destiny” and the “Resurrection Day.” 2- Be optimistic and pray for forgiveness, our wishes, and particularly for getting close to Him. 3- Be restless to achieve closeness to God. 4- The faithful should resemble the sinful in showing empty hands to God. The sinful must pray like the faithful with hearts filled with certainty as to God’s Kindness and Generosity. 5- Attract God\'s Compassion by being kind to others (by forgiving and praying for them). 6- Be generous by praying for others. 7- Help those in need, and be kind to relatives. 8- Show kindness to our parents, pray for our spiritual leaders. 9- Ask for a good livelihood and the destruction of those who bring about poverty. 10- Join the prayer gatherings with other people, at least for a part of the night. 11- Recite supplications, which are appropriate with our mood. 12- Read some of the Qur\'an. 13- Reflect and evaluate ourselves. 14- Think about the moment when we leave this life and review our will. 15- Don’t neglect remembering and thinking about Imam Ali (‘a). 16- Continually feel the presence of the living Imam, al-Mahdi (‘aj). 17- Plan for our future and changes to be made in our behaviour. 18- The third “Night of Destiny” is the night to pray for the coming of Imam Mahdi (‘aj). 19- Pray for a good destiny and martyrdom in the way of God (if one wants). 20- Make a pilgrimage to Imam Husayn’s (‘a) shrine, or send your greetings to him from far.
