[13 June 2012] West seeks to sabotage P5+1 Iran talks Jeff Steinberg - English
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton says the group of six major world powers (P5+1) is ready to hold talks on Tehran's 5-point proposal in the forthcoming negotiations with Iran in Moscow. In a phone conversation with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili on Monday, Ashton said the P5+1 - comprising of Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany - is ready to discuss Tehran's proposal. Stressing the necessity of achieving success in the upcoming talks in the Russian capital, Ashton expressed hope that both sides could find common grounds based on Iran's proposal and the P5+1 package.

[06 June 2012] 'P5+1 unwilling to resolve Iran N-issue' - English
While Iran and the P5+1 are getting ready to meet again in Moscow later this month, the Western side is ignoring Iran's request for preparatory talks to set the agenda ahead of the meeting.
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili has written a letter to the EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton about the issue. Jalili has warned that the P5+1's foot-dragging on holding a preparatory meeting raises doubts about its determination to have successful talks in Moscow.
The preparatory meeting was agreed in previous negotiations to set the agenda of the main meeting. Jalili's Deputy Ali Bagheri sent two letters to Ashton's deputy Helga Schmid in May and June regarding the preparatory meeting. Bagheri says the response he received fails to address the agenda-setting talks.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Mohammad Marandi, professor of University of Tehran, to further explore the issue.

[19 June 2012] P5 Plus 1 must stop taking orders from Israel - English
Iran says it will seek a three-step strategy in the ongoing round of talks with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (P5+1) in Moscow.
A member of the Iranian negotiating delegation, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Monday that during the first phase of the Moscow talks, the Iranian delegation will criticize the other party for squandering chances after the negotiations in Baghdad and refusing to hold deputy-level talks. He said the P5+1 has thus dealt a blow to the talks in Moscow.
The Iranian diplomat said Tehran will also give clear and well-documented responses based on the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Ahmadinejad urges fair nuclear talks
After the EU announced the date for a new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the talks should be based on justice.
President Ahmadinejad in an address to the people of the northwestern Iranian province of Ardebil on Sunday said the Islamic Republic had previously expressed readiness to hold talks over its nuclear energy program.
"Holding talks with Iran is the best choice for you. You have no other option. All the other ways are closed. You know the fact very well," he added.
The Iranian chief executive, however, stressed that the talks should be held based on justice and respect.
"They thought they can weaken the Iranian nation through imposing sanctions and posing threats, but Iranians have showed integrity, convergence and strength," he emphasized.
"The Iranian nation will not give up an iota of its international rights," he went on to say.
President Ahmadinejad's remarks came after European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton announced that the new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group will take place from November 15 to 18.
Ashton's spokesman, Darren Ennis, said on Saturday that the talks will most probably take place in the Austrian capital, Vienna.

The Israeli prime minister expresses concern over the progress of nuclear talks between Iran the P5+1 countries.
Benjamin Netanyahu also said at a cabinet meeting that Iran was getting everything, while virtually giving nothing in the talks. Netanyahu once again accused Tehran of trying to develop nuclear weapons and inter-continental missiles. The Israeli premier is expected to raise the issue in his meeting with visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The accusations come as Israel is widely believed to be the sole possessor of nukes in the Middle East, with as many as 4-hundred nuclear warheads.
