I will be leading an aid convoy from London to Gaza leaving on 14 February and travelling through France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and through Rafah and into Gaza. It will bring material aid and raise the banner of Palestine in all the countries that we visit. The convoy will be led by a British fire engine, ambulances, and many trucks full of practical aid given by the various communities in Britain. It is quite an undertaking, which I anticipate will have a high public profile throughout its journey and on its arrival in Gaza, god willing, some 30 days later. The convoy is already supported by the Stop the War Coalition – which organised the largest demonstrations in British history – as well as the Anglo-Arab Organisation, several British trade unions and a large number of Muslim organisations. The Hijab Martyr Marwa al-Sherbini, has inspired a group of multinational women to call the OIC (Organisation of the Islamic Conference) to declare July 1 the International Day of Hijab. Hijab is an expression of Muslim Women's freedom; and is a choice for them. Democracy is allegedly a pioneer of freedom and as a result should support the right of women to wear the Hijab. Instead Marwa al-Sherbini was murdered in cold blood by Alexander W (full name has never been released by German Authorities) in a German Courtroom with Judge, Jury and Lawyers present by the racist who had initially abused her and sparked the event which led to them being in court in the first place. Her husband was also shot by a police officer when he went to assist his wife; and their child looked on in horror as his mother was murdered and father was wounded. The western media has attempted to cover up this issue; and the exact condition of Marwa's husband is not known since Press TV has been denied access to him by the German authorities. The police officer who shot Marwa's husband has yet to be charged with his crimes and offences by the German authorities.

Israel is continuing to build illegal settlements on Palestinian land, despite a 10-month suspension of new construction announced by the government. Peace Now, an Israeli non-governmental organisation, says work is taking place at more than 30 settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Every day, a thousand jobs are lost in France. 3.2 million French are looking for jobs, that\'s a record since the 1990s. According to the International Labour Organisation, western countries like France are focusing too much on austerity and too little on creating jobs. The worst affected are those who have been out of the job market for more than six months. At state run job centers, the wait for jobs offers is getting longer. But a study shows, the centers are unable to handle fresh waves of job seekers. The study shows employment offices like the one right behind me are have such complicated administrations that they will need over three dozen reforms in order to serve the French and help them find jobs that are badly needed. The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Co-operation of the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (COMCEC) was established in Mecca in 1981. The OIC is an organization of 57 Muslim countries that make up 22% of the world\'s population but only 11% of the world\'s GDP. The Organization of Islamic Co-operation has been working for four decades to contribute to the economic development of its members. Today the organisation has four trillion dollar economies, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, who together are responsible for nearly half of all the intra-OIC trade and foreign direct investment. This session of COMCEC covered topics ranging from the expansion of intra-OIC trade, financial co-operation, and better infrastructure to sustainable tourism and poverty eradication. Over 500 delegates from more than 50 countries and a dozen international organizations have met here today in Istanbul at the 29th international COMCEC conference. The main message of the conference is the need for greater co-operation and co-ordination between the member states of the OIC to increase trade which will be beneficial to all their economies.
