This is a ‘meccan’ surah. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (saw) that a person who recites this surah will never face bad times. The person who recites it in the Isha or Tahajjud prayers always remains pure of heart and even dies while he/she is in a pure state. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) said that a person who recites this surah properly will get a chance to meet the Holy Prophet (saw) and if he/she prays for a specific wish he/she will get InshALLAH. Reciting surah al-Muzammil a hundred times on Thursday night leads to the forgiving of a hundred major sins and procures a hundred rewards. Holy Prophet (saw) has said that angels send salutations and pray for the forgiveness of the one who recites this surah. If he/she dies on that day then he/she will have died as a martyr. Drinking water in which this surah has been dissolved also acts as a cure for some ailments.

This is a “meccan” surah. This surah mentions details of the Day of Judgement when everyone will be questioned about their deeds in this world. The Holy Prophet (saw) has said that the one who recites this surah will not get his/her book of deeds from his back on the Day of Reckoning. If written and worn by a pregnant woman, the delivery of the baby becomes easy. However, it is important that after delivery, this surah should be kept away from her. Allegations of harassment and legal loopholes were raised at the controversial trial of Malaysia's Shia leader Kamil Zuhairi Abdul Aziz. Kamil is yet to be charged although the religious authorities in the country arrested him last December for what they called deviant teaching. The religious authorities told the court that they are yet to wrap up their investigations on Kamil. The government has once again come under spot light following the arrest of 120 Shias who had gathered to mark the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson in December (2010). The sweeping arrest has sparked fear among the Shia followers and is seen as a specific crackdown against them.
