Political turmoil in Egypt. The country\'s constituent assembly has approved a new draft constitution. The Muslim Brotherhood has already rejected the charter.
The Brotherhood has slammed interim authorities, saying they\'re distorting Egypt\'s legitimate constitution which was adopted during Mohammed Morsi\'s presidency. The final draft was approved by a 50-member constituent assembly and will now be handed to the military-backed interim president. Adly Mansour is expected to set a date for a referendum on the charter. The draft calls for elections, parliamentary or presidential, within 90 days after the adoption of the constitution. If approved, the new constitution will strengthen the army\'s hand. It will also forbid the formation of parties based on religious grounds.

A panel resumes voting on the final draft of a new constitution for Egypt.
The current panel includes representatives from civil society, political parties, the army, police, and the Coptic church. The new constitution is expected to spark controversy, as it will strengthen the army\'s hand. It will also forbid the formation of parties based on religious grounds. Egypt\'s interim authorities suspended the previous constitution written during Mohamed Morsi\'s presidency after his removal on July 3.

An Egyptian panel tasked with drawing up the new draft constitution has approved an article that forbids the formation of religious parties.
The document says any political party founded on a quote religious basis will be prohibited. The ban was in place during long-time dictator Hosni Mubarak\'s rule. The panel says 138 articles of the total 247 articles have been approved. If adopted in full, the charter will be put to a popular referendum early next year. Rights groups say the new charter strengthens the military. Muslim Brotherhood supporters accuse the military-backed government of having anti-democratic tendencies. They say the proposed amendments are contrary to the goals of the 2011 revolution that ended decades of dictatorship.

In Egypt, officials say voters have overwhelmingly approved a constitution which was drafted by the military-installed government and boycotted by the opposition.
The Interior Ministry says based on preliminary results 95-percent of participants approved the draft. The government says the turnout may exceed fifty-five percent. The result could pave the way for the army chief to announce his candidacy for president. The two-day referendum which ended on Wednesday evening was marred by violent clashes between security forces and protesters. At least eleven people were killed. Nearly 450 people, mostly Muslim Brotherhood supporters were also arrested in the past two days.

A brief overview of a lesser-known chapter of Islamic history where Yazid I lay siege to the Holy City of Medina and also razed the Holy Kabah to the ground. There are some who attempt to justify Yazid’s actions, many of whom are Saudi-affiliated ideologues that perpetuate the Takfiri Wahhabi doctrine. But it is clear that Yazid was an enemy of Islam and Muslims. After the tragic events of Karbala, where Yazid massacred the family of the Holy Prophet (S), the tyrannical king went on to invade Medina and Mecca according to historical evidence. It is difficult to deny that the true motivations of Yazid, the Son of Muawiyyah, were to annihilate Islam and the Ahlulbayt (A) of the Holy Prophet (S).

An incredibly eye-opening clip and timely reminder from Sayyid Asad Jafri. In Karbala, the forces of good met with the forces of evil. As history repeats itself, where will you be? Are you of the people of Medina? Or are you of the people of Kufa?
It was the youth that helped drive this religion forward from the very start. It was the youth that helped revive and restore the truth. And yet, we may make the mistake sometimes of condemning the youth for the questions they ask. Sometimes we fail to see what Islam is. We must truly reflect: when the time of Imam Mahdi\\\'s arrival comes, will we be like the people of Kufa, who abandoned the Imam of their time? Or will we be of the people of Medina, who welcomed the Prophet (S)? And while you think about this, remember: Imam Husayn (A) didn’t only teach us how to die - but how to live.
