The israeli authorities have seized all shelter and humanitarian aid provided to Palestinian residents who had their homes demolished by the Israeli army in the Jordan Valley. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territories (OHCHR) had provided the humanitarian assistance when the Israeli authorities bulldozed an entire Palestinian village in the Jiftlik area of the Jordan Valley. The Israeli army have now declared the area a closed military zone and do not allow human rights groups and media entering the area. Last week the Israeli army bulldozed 13 homes and animal outhouses belonging to 3 bedouin families, leading to the displacement of 26 people and 15 children. At the time the army claimd that they were living in a military training zone. Israeli has clarified its position over the Jordan Valley stating that they aim to annex it onto their land. Tel Aviv has refused a deal brokered by the US, to remove all military presence from the Jordan Valley. This is the second time that the Israeli army demolish Palestinian homes in the village of Jiftlik -- leaving them in a cold winter without home or shelter. Rights groups say childrens and elderly are the ones who have suffered the most as a result and if this trend continues it could lead to a serious humanitarian crisis in the village.

Jordan\'s main opposition party is asking the government to scrap a 1994 peace treaty with Israel. The Islamic Action Front has urged the government to freeze and eventually cancel the peace deal, according to the demands of the people. Meanwhile, the Islamic Action Front says the Israeli Knesset\'s planned debate on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound proves that Jordan\'s policies in dealing with the enemy have failed. The opposition party has also previously called on Jordan\'s government to close the Israeli embassy in the kingdom.

Israeli forces have accelerated housing demolition in the Jordan Valley in order to expand settlements. In the most recent case, forces raided a small village near Jericho at dawn, demolishing two houses and animal sheds. The United States has launched a multinational military drill involving Patriot missiles and fighter jets in Jordan despite condemnation from Russia. Over 4,500 US troops, around 3,000 Jordanians, and 500 soldiers from Britain, Saudi Arabia and other countries are participating in the Eager Lion exercise, which started on Sunday, military officials said.
